Nioh had great DLC, and despite the initial release, the Razor's Edge version of Ninja Gaiden was a return to form.

Thanks for making me realize that DOA5 and NG3 are 8 YEARS OLD. Goddammit, who played with the time stream again? ;__;

With that said, I'm not sure I want Ninja Gaiden to return if it's to be submitted to the same kind of DLC bullshit.

If its the same Team Ninja That returned to Form with Nioh, it would be fine.

I had to look up Dead or Alive 6 to see if it was free to play, because I thought that might justify some of the DLC, but it's sixty bucks on Steam.

[up] Which naturally means that Dead or Alive 6 would count as a Fee-To-Pay game with the color change charging bullshittery that Koei Tecmo are pulling.

There's a free version that consists of core fighters, at least on console. Still, free or not to have 1000 plus dollars worth of piecemeal dlc options is beyond rediculous.

And it doesn't even look all that good as a fighter. I swear Do A 2 on the dreamcast looked like it had more impact to it's punches than this limp wristed fighter.

I think only Star Citizen makes you pay that amount of money.

...what's the game with the highest total DLC price by the way? the Sims? some strategy game perhaps?

Paradox likes having pricy DLC for their games, but I don't think they've made it over the thousand bucks barrier with any of them yet. The Sims 3 and 4 definitely feels like contender, though.

Did you know a new Terminator film came out? If you pay attention to the "AAA" videogame market, you'd know. You couldn't help but know.

Terminator: Dark Fate has been placing its product all over the game industry, treating a number of high profile games like stops on a press tour. The result is T-800s everywhere.

Gears 5, Mortal Kombat 11, Ghost Recon Breakpoint, all three have been plagued by little metal skeletons. More importantly, these Dark Fate promotions turn players into billboards, and those players pay for the privilege.

Let's talk about Dark Fate, product placement, and how companies are doubling down on their marketing promotions and expecting people to pay to become living digital commercials.

In which Jim tackles... advertising, actually. He's using the recent infestation of Terminator content in games to talk about advertising in the gaming industry.

The irony here being that Dark Fate bombed at the box office despite the mass advertisement. Jim doing this video long after the movie already came out just feels like insult to injury. [lol]

...I really must be the only person who hasn't seen any Raid advertising as of yet. I keep hearing about all the advertising, but haven't gotten a single youtube ad or youtuber sponsorship thus far.

[up]It's a small channel infestation. If most of your youtube watches are on channels with over 100k subs, than you'll never see it. You'll be bombarded with ads for Audible and Curiositystream instead.

Honestly all this mass advertisement fits a movie that's kinda creatively bankrupt.

Like Dark Fate's not exactly terrible but like most nostalgia based products, it lacks anything particularly new or interesting in favor of retreading what's been done before.

But boy howdy do they want you to know about it through viral marketing as opposed to traditional channels.

Internet Historian gets them and he's got subs in the millions.

Yeah I've seen that bloody mobile game all over channels like Karl Jobst for instance, and even Suzi Sphere Hunter hinted she might shove an ad in her next video like she's been doing as of late.

Kinda makes me wonder what the point of Youtube Premium is. I dunno maybe its my dislike of capitalism talking.

Youtube Premium is great for the preroll and interstitial ads, but it can't do squat about in-video promotions, which is fine, really. Being a Youtuber isn't exactly a high-paying job unless you've got a million subs, so the sponsorships keep the lights on.

I also like Premium because videos I watch get a cut even if they aren't allowed to be monetized because of their content.
