Holy frick ._. Where did he hide that katana? xD

Also, he is uber racist, but that was... Did he even need to go undercover? xD

Oh god he is holding a wine glass now

Edit: Wait, was that katana daedric weapon summon? THESE REAL HIDDEN FRAMES? O_o

I also love how the high elf mage got one shotted and Briadbird complains about how "lesser races waste ammo" :P

Wait, I just noticed that the argonians in the cage (except the "architect") are digitigrade... was the slaver right when he said they regressed to an animal state over generations ?

Lore wise there are multiple variants of them in Black Marsh you know tongue Technically lore wise thats also reason why Khajits look human like in first two games

No need to get racist about it xD

They were intelligent enough to point out the architect and remove his restraints.

EDIT: According to the Elder Scrolls wiki Argonians are apparently descended from TREES so who the fuck knows.

Lore-wise, argonians are actually a pretty neat mess. Basically, there's a race of sentient trees that chemically augments creatures that eat its sap. The lizards in Black Marsh are their preferred target, and the sap makes them into Argonians.

In addition to changing their bodies, Hist sap also gives the lizards an understanding of argonian facial expressions and social cues - things most "natural" species would have gotten brought evolution. Without this knowledge, they are basically autistic in argonian culture.

The Elder Scrolls world is a weird, cool place that somehow manages to be really boring in the actual games. You're doing a good job bringing out all those weird little details Kazerad.

Khajiit are pretty weird, yeah. Going from fully cat to fully human (but with a tail), with multiple steps in-between (such as having digitigrade feet that prevent them from wearing shoes, as in Morrowind).

Although they only generally bother showing one variant of Khajiit across an entire province at once. I suppose if they did a game in Elseweyr, Bethesda would be forced to confront this discrepancy head-on... but I have my doubts they'd manage it terribly well. One thing to write about 16 variants of Khajiit based on moon cycles; another to have each variant convincingly modeled and populated around the world. It's incentive to not set a game in there, I suppose?

They probably could've done it. Limit players to a handful of most humanoid types.

Speaking of interesting lore, Cyrodil was originally supposed to be half roman half mezoamerican ish asianish culture if I remember right? With jungle too. Generic mediaval fantasy being reserved for... Whatever country Daggerfall was located in

Anyway, yeah, Bethesda has a problem were they make too cool lore, but don't actually put effort into showing it, outside of perhaps the Morrowind <_<

I don't think it's Bethesda not making efforts. I think it's Kirkbride being like "here's awesome stuff" and the dev team being like "no way we're putting that in the games".

Eh, I'd still say that Oblivion isn't putting in effort since base concept of the Cyrodil wasn't THAT complicated(jungle and country with two non generic european aesthetic, whats hard with that? xD) :P Meanwhile Morrowind is weird as hell

Fun fact I read in the comments of the Porcupine Dodger comic - the "go to the bottom of the page" button reacts differently if you click on Katia in certain spots. Namely: the open palms (high five!) or her nose (boop).

@Spooky Mask: you're not thinking like a ye-olde developer from the ancient times of 2006! A jungle would've been very taxing in an 3D game back then. An open-world game especially, since you couldn't use any of the traditional shortcuts used to make jungles less taxing (like having trees beyond a certain distance just be a still image).

One of the things morrowind did very well that people often overlook was that it meshed it's aesthetic with the current technology level. The constant ash storms and haunting, foggy atmosphere served a dual purpose of setting the scene and making the scene less taxing to render. A jungle, by contrast, would have a ton of trees and leaves and underbrush that would need to render before it even began to fade out. Unless this was some kind of London jungle. A lungle.

That "Scale" poster I'm selling, while not picturing a jungle, is actually based off early abandoned concepts for the Imperial City (from the architecture to the clothing). I uploaded a better photo of it.

Eh, okay, gotta admit the technical limitations. Still, they could have set the game in the part of Tamriel that is supposed to be medieval fantasy in aesthetic <_< Though I suppose that doesn't have gravitas of "Oh shit, demons in centre of the empire" thing... Then again with that logic, all games should take place in Cyrodil if that was the only place that is "impressive" when it comes to global crisis.

The in-world description of people born under the Shadow (basically, everyone born in May) is that they have the ability to "hide in the shadows". I'm assuming the magnitude of this varies from person-to-person.
