Basically, there's an extremely old YKTTW that I found, called Brandishment Bluff, which is about pretending that some random object is a weapon, or pretending that you do have a weapon. There was a comment about how putting a finger in your pocket and pretending it's a pistol is covered by Finger Gun. Now, my understanding of Finger Gun is that it only covers the actual gesture (much like Flipping the Bird, Red Eye, etc.) and that the act of trying to convince someone that the finger in the pocket would not count, and instead be covered by the bluff trope.

So, the question is, "Does Finger Gun cover cases when someone tries to convince someone else that a concealed finger is a gun?" My thought is that it does not, but I just wanted to check with you all just in case.

It appears to be just about the gesture.

  • Looks at the age of that trope* *Looks at the age of some of my YKTT Ws I still haven't finished.* *Feels ancient.*

I rarely visit the forums to avoid the cynicism ooze.
