Killing misuse of a trope is a free action. I just deleted the reference to Fetish Fuel.
I do think this is a legit trope though, or at least as legit as Fanservice or Ms. Fanservice. When you have a children's show with a lingering shot on the bikini clad adult with the "Isn't she sexy" style music playing, you know they aren't aiming for the 8 year olds in the audience, but their older folks.
I know but a majority of the examples on this page are "this character is hot". If it really is about fanservice or Mr. Fanservice / Ms. Fanservice in children show then the description should be clear on that.

I agree that this comes off as a list of attractive characters in family oriented works. That simply is not worth troping. The trope should concentrate on the fanservice aspect.
"Killing misuse of a trope is a free action. I just deleted the reference to Fetish Fuel."
Well I put another line stating the actual difference (that proper examples would be intentional and thus distinct from that trope).
But I agree a lot of examples are not parent service, but just Fetish Fuel. Those should be cut.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Do we even need a line about Fetish Fuel? Fanservice in family oriented show doesn't seem like something that should be confused with Fetish Fuel.
Actually, if some examples fall under FF (like the Ferngully one), we do need a line stating that this is not FF.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Ok
Should this page include underage characters?
Um... if a show does this to attract parents... it would... actually... count. It would be wrong as hell, but the point is using this trope.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. Why would a show use fanservice of underage characters to attract parents to a show?
Then again, it really depends on the country the work originates from. But still.

"Why would a show use fanservice of underage characters to attract parents to a show?"
Some might. But as that would require knowing author intent, and I don't think we want to know that, we can just purge those examples.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. Not to mention factoring in author intent would require Word of God.
Depends what you mean by underage. If you mean teenager played by someone in their twenties then I say it counts as Parent Service. If you mean someone who is underage even Out of Universe, then yes, yank it.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI'm talking animation.
Ah, animation if they're underage just cut it. I just wanted to point out the difference. Sometimes Dawson Casting is used for Parent Service in Live Action works.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickAnd voice actors don't change that.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. So what is this the objective criteria for the trope. I doubt that sentence at the bottom gonna help defferiate this from Fetish Fuel.
1. I fixed that sentence to make it more clear. 2. I say the definition is throwing in sexy character(s) to appeal to the grownups.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Gotta be more specific, sexy character just means "any character I find attractive" to most people.
Wait, should this trope just be fanservice in an family oriented show?
Yeah, that is what I should have written before.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I think most of the examples here should be cut, as this is another one of those pages where tropers list every guy/girl on screen they consider hot.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Agreed, it shouldn't even be about characters. It should be about family oriented works using fanservice tropes.
That's a good redefinition. Jessica Rabbit would still fit under this though. Sure that film is loaded with other parental bonuses, but that just makes it fit even more.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Bump. So are we changing the definition?
Most of the examples on this page are just pointing out character's in family work they find attractive, and the definition of Fetish Fuel is which "is about young people finding things sexy for the first time" is completely wrong. Why this trope would need to distinguish itself from fetish has me suspect about it's tropability?
