There's no reason it should have worked though. Yomi and Mukuro were both in positions to just wipe Raizen's faction out.

Had Mukuro made it to the final round she probably wouldn't have been as battle-thirsty.

I suspect both of them saw benefit in an opportunity to take the throne without too much bloodshed.

I mean, winning would be undisputed right? And not only that, but it would mean less loss of military power.

I'm just guessing though. Maybe they just thoughts tournaments were fun.

I suppose.

On a different note, Sensui is a fascinating character.

Overall I liked the anime over the manga, but the manga did doe a few things better like flesh out Yusuke's mom Atsuko better making much more obvious and clear that she was mob affiliated and havnig her be part of the crew at the Dark Tournament(most of her moments got folded into Kuwabara's sister Shizuru) and Keiko being MUCH more tomboyish and not afraid to fight people if she had to and bieng much more hotblooded.

Anybody else excited about the new OV As coming? Yeah, it's only two episodes but I'm happy about it.

I didn't know it was going to be only 2 episodes, but more Yu Yu Hakusho is always a good thing. It's such a forgotten series. I mean, J-Stars sure, but that's not getting localized anytime soon.

I didn'ylt even know there was going to be new stuff coming out.

What can they do?

There was that last arc in the manga with the spirit world rebels trying to oust Koenma, but beyond that...

Romantic Comedy starring Kuwabara.

It's going to be an adaption of that last little adventure in the comic and Two-Shots.

I know about the break-in at Spirit World but it seems odd to adapt that after all of this time. This seemed like a Yo! Son Goku and his Friends Return type deal.

I would love something more substantial like a reboot but I'll take what I can get.

Ya know, one thing I never really appreciated before, was the fact there are only like four songs on teh OST and they use them all over and over and over again.

God knows I like them but I'm realizing upon my re-watch that not only my most favorite, remembered moments have songs like this playing

so do a bunch of others, too.

I'm only at he Rescue Yukina stuff and I've heard the same songs over and over and over again and I def remember hearing them all a lot more in future.

Smile Bomb is still one of my favorite anime openings. I love that the ending songs are all dubbed in english too.

I have this memory of Yu Yu Hakusho being in the Sensui arc late at night and hearing "an unbalanced kiss" during the credits, while simultaneously flicking over to AMC which was in the middle of a Halloween movie marathon. And I was terrified of Halloween 4-5 when I was little, so I would sit in my room in the dark huddled up watching Michael Myers stalk his niece then flick back to Yu Yu Hakusho where I felt "safe."

It was actually because of that I remembered Yu Yu Hakusho and discovered that Toonami hadn't aired the whole series. Imagine my surprise when I find out that not only was there something after the Dark Tournament, but a whole story arc after that. I mean, not much of one but still. That was one and a half seasons I'd missed out on.

Ah, good times.

It's interesting to hear Yusuke throw around "retarded." You won't hear that in a dub from Funi these days.

I'm not fussy about these kinda things like some people. I just know they are not really a good thing to say anymore.

Kinda like some of the gay jokes from Fushigi Yuugi.

You know what's interesting?

Until I read about it on this site, I didn't know Kurama was supposed to be a man. Because the non-English dub I watched in my youth had him be voiced by a woman. A deep-voiced one, yes, but definitely a woman.

Eh, Linda Young (Genkai) had me convinced Frieza was female.

Just caught the first of the two OVA's which re-tells the story of how Kurama and Hiei first met.

Hard to believe just one year later Hiei would be so different. It's never confirmed in-universe that the sword was messing with his mind (since from a meta standpoint he was only meant to be a starter villain), but considering how different his is before and after that incident, I'd say it's more or less likely to be true.

Nothing much to say about these two stories. It was cool to see the whole group together and all, but beyond that, it's really just a bit of Fanservice, filling in some gaps, or in the case of the second one, giving that full ending.

Original "cackling asshole" Hiei is such a great example of Early-Installment Weirdness. You can really tell he wasn't initially supposed to be a recurring character.

No, these were just released this year (this month in fact) as part of a Blu-ray rerelease or something like that.

They were mentioned earlier in the thread.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, my absolute favorite thing about Hiei is that he never mellowed out, he never got "better", he never had an "Oh, I'm the baddy" moment and discovered the sanctity of life. He debuted as an asshole, and when the series ended, he was an asshole.

Well he did get Mukuro that torture chair plant with her childhood tormentor strapped into it.
