"Jump in without thought, only to perish in the flames..."

-...Uh... That means she agrees with you that it's a ridiculous idea that they didn't test it.-

-...The narrator thinks.-

-Oh! She's in the race!-

-Aichi smiles a bit more brightly. She seems like a nice girl, so he's rather pleased to know that she's participating too.-

-Although they may be against each other... But what's competition without some friendly rivalries, right? He's had to fight a bunch of his friends in tournaments in the past!-

-He remembers the way to the census office, too!-

"Oh, it's over—"

-However, the yelling sort of cuts him off and makes him get a bit sheepish again.-

"...It's over this way. I can show you, if you'd like."

-He turns in the direction of the census office, but waits for Tsuruno to follow him (if she chooses, of course).-

"You're entering, too? I've never been in a race like this before... I'm a little nervous...!"

Ehe! I'm excited for this one, it sounds like it's gonna be a real test! Or, at least it looks that way!

-Onward! Although the narrator is not certain of whether or not she should leave their arrival up to the GM or what...-

-Aichi would have been a bit more overwhelmed by Tsuruno's cheer a year or two ago, but nowadays he definitely doesn't mind it. It's nice meeting someone with a good air of cheer about them!-

-Especially with all of the rough things that have been going on as of late. With luck, this entire thing will be lighthearted and fun!-

"Ehehe, I'm excited, too. I've participated in some competitions before, but nothing like a race. It'll be a new experience, and with a bunch of us participating, I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun!"

-Aichi can be rather chipper himself!-

-Man, imagine how much power could be generated from friendship! Ah, that's a beautiful dream...!-

"Ehehehe, did Tails work on it?"

-He hasn't seen Tails in a long time either... Ah, they got along really well!-

-...Oh? How he's been?-

-Aichi's smile weakens a bit, growing a fair amount more somber... but still nowhere near as bad as it would have been before.-

-And besides, he can't imagine Sagi wanting Aichi to be depressed every time Aichi thinks of him...-

"...A friend of ours... You remember Sagi, right? He.."

-He sort of averts his eyes, although the smile kind of remains.-

"...He died... We were in a fight, and he sacrificed himself to save us..."

-He probably shouldn't bring up the brainwashing or anything...-

"We're still mourning at different paces. It's hard, but I... I can keep going. I still have my memories of him, and..."

I was so busy fanning myself, I really didn't pay attention to what my companions had to say.

"Please don't worry. Like I said, we're all moving forward at our own paces and... I'm sure Sagi wouldn't want us to be sad when we think of him..."

-It's hard, but Aichi wants to be happy when he thinks of Sagi.-

-He can't be held back anymore...-

"...I want to smile when I think of him."

“Good mindset to have...barely met the guy but he seemed like a cool dude. Sally vouched for him, at least. Rote, too, and he’s a good judge of character.”

"Yeah... We didn't get to talk very much, but he was very kind, and he was the one that led me to the crossroads."

-Yeah... Sagi was the one that told him about that place...-

"When I was lost in another world with no way home, Sagi told me about the building there... and then he and everyone else were supporting me. I'm very thankful for the time I spent with him."

-Ah, but... he supposes they probably shouldn't linger on the subject...-

"How are the other Freedom Fighters?"

-He knows that things have been going well, but it'd be nice to hear a bit more about how everyone is doing.-

-Sally, Tails, Rotor, Amy, Bunnie, Antoine, and everyone else... Man, it's been a long time since he's seen them.-

-He's actually feeling a little nostalgic...!-

“Same old, same old. Sally’s tracking down some weird signal she thinks is the Phantom Ruby but that thing got smashed to pieces. Rotor and Tails are workin’ on some new airship and Antoine’s an ambassador now. Guy was born for it - and Bunnie’s his bodyguard.”

-Wait, Sally's looking into something that might be the Phantom Ruby?!-

"Even if it's shattered, it can still have effects... We ran into some trouble with some of the shards..."

-So it's not good to dismiss it just because it was smashed...-

"I hope it's nothing serious..."

-Rotor and Tails working on an airship... That's something Aichi can definitely imagine very clearly.-

"I'm sure the finished airship will be great!"

-And Antoine's an ambassador?! Bunnie is his bodyguard?!-

"Ah, I'm really happy for them! I'm sure they're both doing great!"

"Nothin' I can't handle. C'mon man, you know me!"

-Last time you met him he was captured and brainwashed...-

-...But from everything Aichi heard, Sonic is an amazing guy and that time was an outlier.-

-So Aichi just smiles again.-

"Yeah. I'm sure you and the others will be able to handle anything that comes your way!"
