I get the feeling that Batamonda isn't going to pull a face-turn like Kabaton did; if they reveal that he's a murderer (on top of a coma-inducer and hero-vanisher), then that'd almost certainly seal his fate.
Kabaton would at least warn "side characters" to get out of the way; Battamonda clearly doesn't care about civilian casualties at best and actively aims for them at worst. Beryberie would've been dogmeat if the Cures didn't rush in to save her.
Battamonda being more adult-coded than Kabaton's wacky children's villain is probably intended to mirror Ageha becoming Butterfly.
x4 Oh darn, sorry, I didn't actually follow up on that thread, so I won't be able to find a screenshot.
Where there's life, there's hope.17. The best way to get someone to do physical activity they hate, peer pressure. Sora still does not comprehend that she sets an impossibly high standard others struggle to even partially meet. Now I know the writers hate Mashiro. Beyond her weak transformation she's the one that tripped on the relay while Sora hard carried (suck it Nao), and she even had to give her attack to Sora to hit the monster. I like how their pairing has worked to really highlight Mashiro's inferiority complex. Even Battamonda wanting to destroy the sports festival since it highlights how much better the strong are over the weak helped with this, since you can imagine a past Mashiro sympathizing with that goal. Another good character growth episode.
I love that Mashiro has been written to address something I think Heartcatch failed at and is at a Cure that feels weak and frail becoming strong. Tsubomi by halfway point turned into a Hinata clone which by midseries was outclassed by Naruto...ERRRRRRRRRRRRR... Cure Moonlight.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.I think the point with Tsubomi was that she wasn't really the best option to be a cure to begin with, but her strong will enabled her to inspire those around her despite her reservations. Her grandmother had to save her in the beginning because she was utterly terrible at it after all (at first that is). LOL
There were far other better options like Moonlight or Sunshine who both had fighting experience, but Tsubomi's strong will is what allows those characters to come through.
Now that I think about it, this week's episode kind of parallels that (and with Smile's sport episode as well) with Mashiro. Mashiro clearly has a lot of insecurities when comparing herself to the literal super soldier, but she still wants to do her best to support Sora. It's rather sweet.
With Butterfly coming in next week, I do wonder how her debut is going to go.
I really hate the subtle implication this post makes. "Oh Tsubomi was never a strong character anyway". I know I am putting words in your mouth since I DID put this the wrong way and I am putting a meaning you never intended, but got out of your post because it made me sad. I didnt mean strong as in Battle competent or that she's not as strong as Moonlight but I meant more as a character in general. It's extremely sad and dissapointing to see a weak character cant really become strong enough with determination, no. Good Little Tsubomi needs to face the music. She's a Hinata Clone and Hinata is just not strong at all.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.I don't really see how Tsubomi is a Hinata clone?
Plus, by the end, her appearance is the basis for the Mugen Silhouette, so I don't really find it to be that big a deal that Tsubomi isn't quite the confident MC like most others in the series.
Watch SymphogearI wanted to comment on that too but felt I was going not going to need it but it turns out I did.The Infinity Silhoutte may have her voice and design but she's not Tsubomi. She's a fusion of the 4 cures. That's not Tsubomi. I wish they had done something to show Tsubomi's growth. Like having a badass solo fight like literally everyone else. But Sasorina was purified way too early so she gets nothing.
I heard the manga did her justice in that it truly is her that fights alone with Dune as the Infinity Silhoutte with her other friends powering her up but not fusing. I wish the anime had done the same. I know people are going to cry "But that's the main character doing everything" but to that I would say that's having the main character do SOMETHING on her own.
Miyuki was lowkey trying to strike gold with a weak and shy Cure but at least she got her badass fights on her own (She didnt get one on the mid season but she did by the finale.)
EDIT: Also I didnt mean I dont like shy and meek characters being the hero. I meant I wanted her to pull her weight and overcome obstacles on her own like literally everyone else did.

Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Okay so whoever guessed one of the new male cures would be "Cure Break" was right but...
... But...
The lead is named "Cure Top" and I'm sure that won't lead to any jokes at all.
Tsubomi had already disproved the idea of her being weak a few episodes into Heartcatch.
That's the thing Tsubomi was never weak, she just lacked confidence, once she started believing in herself (which happens fairly early on) she kicked tons of ass.
Also if I can give my own minority opinion. I think Ellen/Beat is a better character than Setsuna/Passion.
Precisely, she started out EXTREMELY promising but faltered by the end.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here. Now obviously ranking the strength of the Precure is a fool's game because their power is dependent on the strength of their feelings, but just going from my own perspective I'd say the weakest Precure are the start-of-series Smile Precure. Seeing the way their strength grew over the course of the series was very satisfying considering where they started.
I dont mean the power level I meant the strength of her character. I apologize if that wasnt meant as a response to me.

Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.I wonder if we'll ever get a Dinosaur themed Precure series.
The Leader would obviously be a T Rex.
Watch SymphogearOh gotcha. I misunderstood.
Smile team was weak. Except for Reika, who started out a badass and only got stronger from there.
Oh and Miyuki and Yayoi were epic. Weak but showed they had guts and could get tough when the going gets tough.

Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Did Tsubomi really need to do more to show she was strong?
I mean she almost never lost after her first battle.
She consistently got the better of the generals (even countering Kumojaki's technique he had spent all episode perfecting, on her first try, by coming up with her own version on the spot.)
The generals needed upgrades to keep up with her, at a point were she had received no upgrades herself.
Her few losses mostly to Dark Precure, who was a pretty consistent team wrecker throughout the show.
I dunno. Maybe she really doesnt and I am just being a jerk. But Moonlight, Marine and Sunshine all got badass one on one final fights and Blossom didnt. I guess the writers thought the Infinity Silhoutte would count but it doesnt to me. To be fair in Choujin Sentai Jetman, only Black Condor got a badass final one on one fight with a villain.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.I do because it shares her body type and even her voice actress. Just scaled up to the size of Earth.
Watch Symphogear18. Yuri wasted. Yukari in shambles. Akira defeated. Asumi doesn't count. The impossible has happened, and we finally have an adult Cure on the main team. I like how that boy bragged about nearly getting killed yesterday. Then it turns out Cures are bad role models since they solve their problems with violence. Nice to finally see Ageha in her own environment. Was excitement always her thing? She certainly brought that here. Butterfly's transformation isn't Prism bad, but it definitely feels awkward in several places. Sick finisher though. Battamonda may have called her an outsider, but she's been part of the team for long enough that her transformation feels more like a formality than anything else. Of course the pink Cure just has to be the completely ordinary human. Some traditions never change. Knew she'd move in at this point. Good episode overall, but weaker than Tsubasa's intro episodes with all that gravitas.
So when Ageha does her finisher, the explosion briefly takes on the shape of her car foe a frame.Lol
Going back to the teardrop thing, I don't seriously think they'll reveal Battamonda is an actual murderer (though that's something to keep in mind for the fanfics), but it does go well with his "fake sympathy" thing. "I'm crying, but not really."
Prison tattoo meaning.
