Some of the responses to that tweet really prove Robbery's point about who these rumors are appealing to.

I really hope some of those responses are being sarcastic, but I doubt it.

Is there any actual shock about those kind of tweets appearing? It is per usual now for idiots to jump at every opportunity to be horrible for the most trivial of news (no matter be it real or fake, since trolls and dumb people rarely check them out).

What’s annoying is that everyone immediately believes the naysayers reporting on a rumor and then when Smith says that’s wrong, he’s the liar, it’s totally going to be about Teela and her non-existent girlfriend.

I genuinely don’t think these people will be happy unless Catra’s severed head shows up in Snake Mountain and there’s a bunch of Take That! lines to demonstrate SPOP isn’t canon.

Griffin Newman (who was Arthur on Amazon’s sadly short lived version of The Tick) who is Orko on Revelation has joined Smith in broadcasting a similar sentiment.

That sentiment is “We love MOTU, the producer is an MOTU super fan who has a huge collection of figures, and if it was going to be like She-Ra, none of us would have agreed”.

[up]The people yelling at Smith were citing She-Ra as why they didn’t trust him. Not like that makes sense, but that seems to be the messaging to counter the fears it will be like SPOP.

[up] That's not what I got from it at all. Saying that it'll be faithful to the original is one thing, but he's deliberately ignoring the She-Ra comparison to avoid talking negatively about it. So that assumption that he's saying "It won't be like She-Ra or I wouldn't have done it" is kind of big.

Sounds like reaching. And trying to imitate other shows generally tends to end badly. Better to do things the way they want it, anyway, no matter how they feel about other versions.

Wake me up at your own risk.

@ Beatman 1, I see no evidence he was bad mouthing the recent She-Ra series.

Really I heard that Kevin Smith respected Stevenson's vision with her She-Ra show, but wants to do his own thing with this He-Man series, which is fine.

The only people are alt right You Tube channels like Clownfish TV and they complain about everything, they do not deserve credence.

[up]It’s that they’re forced to response to this hysteria which is annoying. It’s not enough to promise a show will be cool, the second a rumor from an anonymous insider hits, the insider is telling the truth, and the people behind the show are liars. It’s frustrating since it’s clear there’s passion for the project, but people are so annoyed that the slightest rumor,of a similarity to SPOP is taken as fact when they’ve said that will not be the case.

90% of people, who hate the recent She-Ra, are the same idiotic Anti-SJW crowd, who complain about everything they deem as feminist or "political". I would not really cite their opinions as something worthwhile to listen to.

Kevin Smith discusses Revelation at the 8 minute mark. He’s promising a panel at the SDCC online show in July.

Some more comments from Kevin Smith. He mentions watching animatics for episodes 4 and 5, and he gives out a Working Title that Netflix thought was too spoilery.

Regardless, this is an interesting speculation article from Screen Rant, dealing with how this show could handle Skeletor.

https://screenrant.com/masters-universe-revelation-fix-skeletor-comedy

This article suggests Skeletor will likely be darker here than in the Filmation show.

This article says that this new series is aimed at mostly at fans of the old show, though clearly its going to be more serious than the old show was:

https://comicbook.com/anime/news/masters-of-the-universe-target-audience-revealed-netflix

A lot of the comics from the 80s and recently involving the Masters of the Universe were more serious than the Filmation cartoon, with the mini-comics version of Skeletor being quite ruthless and the 1982 DC comics Skeletor being a would-be mass murderer or the recent DC comics Skeletor who tried to destroy the multiverse and rebuild it to where he would rule it as an evil god.

Also, Henry Rollins talked about playing Tri-Klops:

https://collider.com/henry-rollins-interview-dreamland-netflix-masters-of-the-universe/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

This article talked about why this show is named Revelation (some minor spoilers in there):

https://comicbook.com/anime/news/masters-of-the-universe-revelation-kevin-smith-explains-title-reasoning/

There some revelations that this series could go with:

That Skeletor is secretly Keldor, He-Man's uncle, and that Teela is the Sorceress' daughter.

[up] That second revelation was already canon to the old Filmation series.

Also, both those were also made explicit in the 2002 He-Man series.

[up] With Teela, yes, but 2002 Keldor was never said to be related to He-Man in anyway.

[up][up] Was that ever said explicitly in the Filmation cartoon?

Keldor thing was from 2002 cartoon. While the brother to Randor and Uncle to He-Man thing was hinted upon in Mattel minicomics (specifically in issue, where Randor tried to find his long lost brother and Skeletor panicked upon hearing it, saying that Randor must never know the truth and stopped this, which hinted that Skeletor was Randor's brother). While in Mattel mini-comics Randor brother's race was never stated, 2002 cartoon made the Skeletor a former Gar (blue skinned humanoid).

[up] I do not remember them ever saying 2002 Keldor and Randor were brothers.

VeryVileVillian (Apprentice)
#74: Jun 22nd 2020 at 9:53:08 PM

And i never said so, 2002 give him a name - Keldor and made him a former Gar, while Mattel minicomics started this trend "Skeletor is Randor's brother" by hinting that, the future media simply combined these elements (like 2012 DC Comics about He-Man) to make the origin story "complete".

Yep, fairly early on too. Episode 6 "Teela's Quest"
