If you can find one, great. If not, 7 is probably the one to go with, if only because it's probably the most familiar to English-speaking audiences. For what it's worth, The Other Wiki uses that exact picture on its page for the entire series.
That's a good enough argument for me to say keep it. Does the series as a whole have a logo that could be used?
... There are about 10 Fire Emblem Games, on 8 platforms. There is no image to represent the whole series.
Plus, there's no confusing subtitle on the American release of FE 7.

Unfortunately, there isn't really an overarching "logo" to the series. Each one uses the "Fire Emblem" font in a different way, so even if we just used a "Fire Emblem" title card, it'd specifically be from one game.
And the seventh game is the only one that's just titled "Fire Emblem" here in the states.
Concerning the logo, Super Smash Bros Brawl employs the logo of FE7 (sans weapons backing it) to represent the franchise as a whole, for what it's worth*. Would that count for something here?
Failing that, perhaps we could arrange something of a collage of the various lead protagonists of the series together, using their official artwork? Just a thought.
*though then again it does use Earth Bound's logo to represent MOTHER 3 so...

That sounds like a pretty good idea. It will have to be updated with every new universe in the series, but I think that will work best.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.several minutes of photoshoppery later◊
Test run. It kind of looks like ass at this point, but at least a fair portion of the artwork was already available with transparency. I can't find any better pictures of Celice, and it's really annoying me, his comparative lack of size more than anything. There's no particular order to this, aside from putting Marth, Ike and Roy in the forefront because, well, Smash Bros. Perhaps we could slap a FE logo down the bottom, if only to do something about that unsightly tangle of feet at the bottom?

How will that look at wiki size, though?
eh
I'd still just prefer an actual logo than something we came up with. In a case like this, a game logo should work fine.
In its current state, if my tests in reducing it in Photoshop are anything to go by, it'd be pretty damn ugly. If someone with a better idea of what they're doing wants to work on this, be my guest.
We could always use this◊.
I like that.
For the record, directly clicking on that place's links always takes me straight to their homepage; I have to paste the URL to get it to work.
What about a gameplay screencap or two, since this is basically the Trope Maker for Strategy RPGs (unless I am mistaken)?
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. Here's that logo at 300 px.
Egh, no thanks. The wildly different art styles clash way too much.
I think it looks fine.
Reaction Image RepositoryYeah, I like that one.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Ooh, I like it!
Alt account of Angeldog 2437.It's pretty, but there's two big strikes. One, it's a Deviant Art pic so we'd need to get permission. Two, at wiki size the people's features are obscured to the point that it's pretty much pointless to have them. The static title works fine for me.
Oh.
Alt account of Angeldog 2437.I gotta agree with His Holiness on that pic, the different art styles clash a tad badly. On the other hand, while the title is fine, it looks quite plain... Maybe this one◊ feels a little more lively?
"We are not a stuffy encyclopedic wiki. We're a buttload more informal".The Trademark stands out way too much. Plus that's too obviously the logo for 7.
That Fire Emblem 7 image has to go. The main page is supposed to cover the whole series, not just one of the timelines. I hope there exists an image representative of the whole series.
