@M84 And slavers too. Githyanki keep and sell slaves.
Some versions practice something that is slavery in all but name — namely, they pillage communities but leave said communities relatively intact so that they can build themselves up again for another round of pillaging in the future.
Githyanki are assholes.
The Githyanki are basically the Ur-Quan of Star Control fame, sans the self-awareness.

Disgusted, but not surprisedThe Ur-Quan at least give people the option of opting out, albeit by sealing them in a bubble for all time, or by virtue of believing that by killing you you'll reincarnate as one of them. It's not much, but by comparison, the githyanki are just bastards.

Technically it's only the Kohr-Ah who believe in reincarnation. Hence why they go the Omnicidal Maniac route as opposed to the Kzer-Za.
The thing they have in common is that they will always take the time to explain why they do what they do when confronted. On some level they are aware that they are doing something terrible, but thanks to their Genetic Memory the trauma is too fresh in their minds.

Disgusted, but not surprisedYeah, I did mean for those to come off as mutually exclusive. Could've put it better.
...The Words! "Halt! What you are doing to us is wrong! Why do you do this thing?"

The Illithids meanwhile, are a mere shadow of what they once were, skulking around in the dark. Though they are at least way better off than the Dnyarri, who were reduced to Talking Pets.
Granted, finding a way to dramatically speed up ceremorphosis could put them back on top.

Disgusted, but not surprisedMeanwhile I want aboleth cameos
I hadn't thought of the connection between the githyanki and the Ur-Quan. Granted that I've only played The Ur-Quan Masters, I think, but the comparison is surprisingly close (albeit not identical, of course).
New question: what might that huge, tentacle-y thing glimpsed near the end of the trailer be?
My Games & WritingBrainstealer Dragon? Neothelid? Who knows?
Disgusted, but not surprisedInterviews already stated what it was. It's a very large Nautiloid.
A Mind Flayer Spaceship.

Yeah, that's what I figured it was. Contrary to what they look like, illithids do not worship Cthulhu.

That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Will we get to drive that thing? I'm calling shotgun!

New theme music also a boxA Mind Flayer Spaceship.

Ah, thank you! I didn't know about those! ^_^
Hmm... Well, that does seem to encourage the idea that we might be getting Spelljammer-related stuff. It's also quite a step up from what I've previously seen from the illithid in the games that I've played that included them.
My Games & WritingFor Baldur's Gate 3 I wonder if all the stock races will available upon first release,Humans will be there obviously,Dwarfs, half elves, half Orc..but what about Gnomes? To my knowledge they're limited in illusions in the mage class and classes overall
I could Gnomes being an extra.Halflings too maybe
Also new races are possible, which ones though, certainly no Dragonborn..
New theme music also a boxWhy not Dragonborn?
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.cos Beth would get their knickers in a twist
Or rather, its rather blatant where the idea came from and it's not a good idea in general

New theme music also a boxDragonborn have around since waaaaaay before Skyrim was even a twinkle in Todd Howard's eye. Bethesda wouldn't have a leg to stand on.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.no but I could see them trying, would be interesting to see who comes out on top
New theme music also a boxDnD Dragonborn are absolutely nothing like TES Dragonborn, so any copyright infringement claims would be exceedingly fraudulent. Bethesda would be stupid to try to go to bat over that.
And considering the, cough, publicity that Bethesda and their representatives have had in recent months, they really don’t need to make themselves look worse.

Adventurers: homeless people who steal from tombs and kill things.Well... D&D introduced dragonborn as a player race in 4e, in 2008, and draconic humanoids in D&D go back to at least the original Dragonlance campaign/books. So they're probably about the only people who could still use 'dragonborn' as a name and get away with it.

Personally, I'd like to see non-standard races available for player-characters. It might be neat to play as a githzerai, for one.
However, here my knowledge of D&D somewhat fails me, as I don't know what other races to suggest. ^^;
All that said, as a mainline Baldur's Gate game, I imagine that it's more likely that we'll only have access to standard races with which to build player-characters, with others perhaps appearing as companions.
I mentioned the undead previously; one idea that occurs to me is of having the player character, regardless of race, be rendered undead at the start of the game. (If there are no viable non-evil forms of undead available, then the player-character's state might be handwaved as the result of a magical experiment, perhaps intended to make a hero immune to mindflayer psionics.)
This would obviate the potential issue of dealing with frequent psionic saves, while potentially leading to some interesting choices—especially if it comes with a skill tree providing undeathly powers—but also a risk of changes in alignment or character-perspective.
Another thought is to take it in the other direction: have the player-character be modified to become psionic, opening up a thematically-fitting psionic skill tree. It might also come with its own set of hazards, including reactions from party-members, the temptation to use one's powers on party-members, or coming into contact with the illithid elder brain.
My Games & WritingUndeath or mind reading/mind control powers? Sounds Obsidian-y. I like it.
Zhjaeve, I think? I liked her well enough, but like a lot of the companions in the base campaign, it kind of felt like a lot of the interactions with her were cut out, and that her connection to the main plot drops off steeply with the githyanki out of the running.
