For some reason, I have a gut feeling that one of those new characters will be Boom-Boom.

They're already cross-promoting Super Mario 3D Land with the Tanooki tail item, so why not throw Boom-Boom in there as well?

Professor E. Gadd is another possibility.

What the hell...

I lold hard at the lucky 7 thing...

IMO it should be maybe 3 items at MOST, and it should be REALLY rare...

I mean, how it is going to work? I am pretty sure there should be some kind of rule...

Hm... dunno how I feel about the Lucky 7. It's an intriguing concept (given the random probability involved in what you could receive), but what if it gave you something like 7 Bullet Bills or 7 Lightnings or 7 Blue Shells?

I doubt any of the items generated by the Lucky 7 can be the same. That would bring up so many horrible game breakers. But yeah, the randomness involved certainly can make this item into a powerful one. Yeah, I'm kind of concerned now.

You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!

[up][up] Well, I dont think it is going to be like that...

But IMO this item should be excluded from the rule of "The worse place you are, the better items you will get" (as in, it could give 7 stars just like you said), otherwise it has the potential to be broken as hell. It also should be something that shows up VERY rarely, like, once or maybe twice a race and only for the very last place.

It may seem a bit way too much, but think about it. lucky 7´s for the last racers, even if only occasionaly would be friking disaster...

As I just said, it should be something SO rare than it may not show up in a whole race at all. After all, it *IS* the "LUCKY 7"

On another topic, I wonder whether we can set up a TV Tropes Mario Kart 7 community?

I wouldn't mind a TV Tropes community, but someone other than me has to set it up as my preorder will arrive late.

The only problem is where the code should be posted.

They actually buffed it, so it screws over everyone, not just the last player. Making it possible to actually pull of comebacks with it.

[up]Which could mean... 8th to 1st if it's really tight, huh? Woe befalls everyone when it's 10 seconds until finish line...

This could be interesting.

[up][up][up][up] It's better than the aerial version by far, though remember that only the one in first place will be subject to the explosion. It's not only punishing to the player in first anymore, making a comeback possible while still requiring skill of the players.

The fact that it's only 8 racers a race again also helps in it's favor.

EDIT: Here's how many Retro Tracks (currently known) that were picked from each cup:

  • Mushroom Cup: 7
  • Flower Cup: 2
  • Star Cup: 4
  • Special Cup: 1

Wait, only 8 racers?

Why downgrade something for the next part of the series?...

Probably because it's easier to handle on a portable (I dunno, that's just my guess). Besides, I'm not quite sure everyone liked 12-man races in Wii. Sometimes, you have to take a step back to take a step forward, you know?

Personally I'm glad it's back to 8 racers. For one thing, 12 racers managed to cause a lot of chaos with all the items. Not to mention that the tracks were giant, making them annoying to play on in local multiplayer.

As for the buffed Blue Shell, I gotta say, it feels like an actual item that can help you out now, instead of a screw you to one racer.

And for the record, the items that the Lucky 7 can produce are random.

Is there a limit to the amount of people can join a community? cause this community feature is a step in the right direction for the game & nintendo.

[up] as it has been said before the only limit at the moment is the amount of players in one game, For all we know it could have a limit but a probably a large one.

Grounded based Blue Shell? YYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS!!!!! Baby! Now we're talkin'

That was a problem in DS and Double Dash and especially Wii.

As for the coins,I love it simply because this could mean throwback to the days when Mario Kart was truly a racing game with items, and not the other way around as everything after Super Circuit has shown.

I hope Ribbon Road and Riverside Park are contenders from the GBA version,Mario Circuit 2 from SNES,and along with Kalimari Desert,Toad's Turnpike from 64.

It took 15 damn years, but finally,...a game that could actually outdo 64. I mean what can beat Metal Mario? He'll probably serve as my alternate character when I'm not playing the Luigi standard or Yoshi standard.

Oh well, I guess moving onto other games for now.
