I'm glad that this is getting a rename. The old name always made me think of tofu that tastes like people. I like Future Food Is Artificial best.

Okay, so this is a Snow Clone of the term "Soylent Green" that refers to artificial food. Whoever named this trope was apparently unaware that this is precisely what Soylent Green means, and even that the "soy" part of the name already refers to soy (the "lent" part being lentils). It's funny that Soylent Green is now mostly known for its plot twist ingredient (Soylent Green Is People), but that doesn't make "Soylent Soy" a good name for a trope about artificial food. It's meaningless if you don't know the movie, and incorrect if you do.
Indeed, it is not a healthy trope, excuse the pun. "Soylent Soy" gets 70 wicks, 66 inbounds, and less than a thousand google hits. In other words, almost nobody, ever, uses the term.
Time for a rename?
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!
