Rename WreckFic to match other Deconstruction titles: Wreck Fic

The trope as described is a Deconstruction Fanfic.

Pretty much every trope in the Deconstruction list has the word Deconstruction in it. But not Wreck Fic.

I'd suggest the title isn't quite clear at first glance. I think it would be better named Deconstruction Fanfic. That would basically make it completely concise, simple and in line with the rest of the Deconstruction pages.

It wouldn't be hard to change all the examples, so if people accepted the switch I'll volunteer to change them in the articles.

Deconstruction Fic is good, fits with the existing ****** Fic snowclones.

If it's a standard term (a term-of-art. as lawyers say) well-established outside the wiki, I'd recommend sticking with the current name, and adding a redirect for search. If it's not a term-of-art, then it's just odd. I'm not familiar enough with the subject matter (fanfic) to venture a guess either way, though.

I did a quick Google search and it doesn't appear to be a pre-existing term.

I'd never heard of it before here.

I just googled it, and most results seem to come from "Plane Wreck Fic" as in literally a plane crashes and it's a fic about that.

Btw:

Wreck Fic found in: 23 articles, excluding discussions.

This title has brought 43 people to the wiki from non-search engine links since 20th FEB '09.

Not great, but not terrible.

I came up with Wreck Fic under my old Eddie Current handle. I don't object to a rename; I will note I used "Wreck Fic" as a play off of Fix Fic. So, that's how it got its current name.

Deconstruction Fic sounds good, although I've been noticing that "deconstructed" is the new "subverted", so I'm just a little iffy about that. We don't really need to keep the current name, though.

Pretty much all the examples fit fine, so any issue with subversion vs deconstruction is a wider wiki issue than one specific to the trope.

I think a rename could improve the amount of entries, as there aren't too many for a 'genre' of fic which seems pretty widespread in my experience.

Deconstruction Fic. Deconstructor Fic. Deconstructive Fic.

Some variant there in. And mack, now that you mention it, changing the name may get more examples. Merci for mentioning that.

I'm going to assume the vote will pass (I don't know how long we wait though), and talk about the names.

The "Fanfic" part of the trope gets named just "Fic" like all the other x Fic articles. I assume no-one has any issue with that. Now for the other half of the name I prefer a rename to Deconstruction Fic.

Any other thoughts? Can we do another crowner with the other proposed names?

Alright, it's been about three days and the polls 9 people in favour, and 0 opposing. I think we can call it done now.

No-one has any objections to Deconstruction Fic?

I'm not 100% on if this is the correct process (correct me if I'm wrong), but I'll give it another 24 hours then do the rename if there aren't any objections to the name.

Unless anyone has any suggestions that set all nine of us who voted on fire, or someone objects?

Deconstruction Fic. Thanks for cleaning up the Wreck Fic redirect, Maniac. I'm tired and missed that. If y'all wanna start fixing links while I sleep and make sure I didn't miss any references to Wreck Fic in the new article page... that's cool.

Wreck Fic renamed to Deconstruction Fic in all existing examples.

Except https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/tales_archived.php?t=DarkFic

Because it's an archive. Is it possible to rename it there or should we just not bother?

The rename is now complete (as far as I can tell), all examples on the Deconstruction Fic page are now reflected in the work pages, and a discussion page has been added to the trope.

I think we can lock this now, future improvements to the page can be talked about in the discussion page.
