Corrin and the Empress could be an interesting matchup, and have a water vs. fire dynamic going for them.

The Empress only having a single sprite-based game with limited animations and next to no backstory to go off of isn't doing her any favours, however, given she's only capable of a three-hit sword combo in-game. The short anime trailers show she's technically capable of more and is crazy-strong, though, so... [shrugs]

It's worth noting Empress' flame attacks are hot enough to work underwater.

Preview got shown on the cast.

So far the fight has divided into X vs Original Megaman, and .EXE vs Geo. Volnutt gets knocked away from the fight early on and when he gets back his attacks are No Sold by X. So things don't look good for Volnutt.

Shame it was so choppy though. I guess the fight just starts with them just pointing their busters at each other?

[up][up][up] eh, personally, I wouldnt put much stock in it. The animated fights more follow dramatic effect than the actual results, up until the end. The only important blow is the last one.

Was there any fight where one fighter completely dominated another for the entire match, never even getting hit, and then went on to win the fight?

Raven is about as close as you can get. Twilight only manages to land a single spell on her, and it doesn’t really matter much in the end anyway.

God the preview looks so much better now that they fixed it in the archive. I can tell what's going on now.

And yeah, Volnutt is doomed. He gets knocked off the building basically right away, and will probably only serve to distract X from doing the killing blow on Original long enough for him to transform.

You know in hindsight

Per DB Cast, only Classic and X are getting previews.

...this says a lot about this fight, doesn't it.

I mean:

Kind of weird that Legends is in the same timeline as the Classic and X series.

Wait, what.

How?

Why are they even distinguished as "Classic" and "Volnutt" then? At what point in the timeline does Legends happen?

IIRC the vague implication is the Legends series' Carbons are the distant end result of ZX's crapsack setting, where humans are required to have robotic implements and reploids have mandatory expiration dates as an effort to keep them equal in society. The two eventually merge into one race, rendering both extinct in the process.

Didn't they base most of the Sigma and Ultron fight off of X just being objectively superior to Megaman in every way? How do you rationalise that with qhat people think will happen with classic winning?

Thebrawlbro Since: Aug, 2013
#39267: Feb 20th 2019 at 2:18:14 PM

I don't think anybody expects the original to win. The series makes it clear that X is Megaman but better multiple times, and the feats back that up.

Soble Since: Dec, 2013
#39268: Feb 20th 2019 at 2:29:51 PM

I have no idea honestly. More powers/feats from Megaman 11, I guess?

Like the whole point of X was being an upgrade to Megaman. And the franchise never goes out of its way to insist that Rock has advantages that X didn't other than being less choked up about fighting. But since this is Death Battle that won't matter anyway. And why are we spoiler-tagging this the previews are up.

It's quite literally:

  • X: Anything you can do, I can do better! I can do anything better than you!
  • Rock: uses Mega Buster No you can't!
  • X: charges X Buster Yes I can!
  • Rock: summons Rush armor No you can't!
  • X: summons Falcon armor Yes I can!
  • Rock: stops time No you can't!
  • X: stops time harder Yes I can! Yes I caaaan!

I remembered Sonic and Mega Man had a crossover in the Archie comics. They might do The Blue Blur vs. The Blue Bomber one day. We had Eggman vs. Wily.

Yeah, Classic and Volnutt are pretty much out of the running on basic logic alone.

But EXE and Star Force are harder to peg. While Geo is technologically more advanced than EXE and has beaten more dangerous foes, EXE also did beat Geo in a crossover. Granted, I believe it was stated that Geo was weakened due to going to a less technologically advanced time period...And who knows how canon the crossover is anyways.

The problem thereafter comes down to whoever wins between them and X. The thing is, if EXE wins then X wins because X can travel to cyberspace. But if Geo wins, then he probably beats X because X wouldn't be able to reach him on the EM Waves.

So my money's on Geo winning out, but that's not to say its a guarantee. Just that there's a lot of factors to consider.

Huh.

You know it's a long shot, but, Rock fought Sonic in the Archie comics crossover. That's something X never did. Yes he's supposed to be a superior design, but the only thing said about his speed in the preview was that was he was able to dodge "lightspeed lasers." Lasers that appear to have quite a delay before they actually fire.

Meh, not like they'd use Archie Comics anyway.

[up][up]while every fight that has had an official crossover fight has gone the same way in a Death Battle so far, they've said a bunch of times that the results for those follow story conventions, and don't mean anything in their calculations. EXE beating Geo won't be a factor that decides anything if theres evidence he ordinarily couldn't.

[up][up]They should, Archie Mega Man was more of an Adaptation Expansion than Archie Sonic's vastly different storyline.
