Yeah, I know the overlevel thing is on me. I just can't help myself. Thank God collectibles haven't started showing up yet.
I must lead a charmed life when it comes to video game bugs. I didn't even have many issues with Fallout: New Vegas. I haven't had much of note aside from some slow loading times when I switch to the map screen.
Kinda wish it was a little easier to knock-out-and-recruit mercs, though. I did that with a level 10 and it turned into some bizarre playground-esque show where I would sneak up behind her, clock her over the head, and then run away and hide until I could do it again. Four attacks later, I finally knocked her out.
I know that's what I look for in an employer: persistence.
Only had 2 bugs in my gameplay so far. both have been aknowledged by the Dev
There's the "Freeze on reloading" bug when I die, and one of the Order targets spawning underground.
Sparta Kick the target. Weather them down to a sliver of hp, and then sparta kick them. They'll be uncouncious, not dead.
Unless you kick them off something tall, obviously.

Okay... this bounty hunter is not stuck. He is just persistently tracking me, and running back and forth on the nearest stretch of road trying to get to me. This can't possibly be how the mechanic was intended, can it?
Optimism is a duty. That's how they generally behave when you have a bounty
They'll keep moving to your viscinity, but they don't automatically find you, so they patrol the general area and react to any alerts.
When you don't have a bounty they become stationary.
I liked the Philakitai better, those just drove past without being quite so persistent.
You can reset their location by fast traveling, though, and they'll leave you alone again. I think the tracking only triggers within a certain distance.
Optimism is a duty. So, a little fun fact/trivia. I'm actually half Greek, and my dad was born and raised on Kephallonia, so the fact that the prologue takes place there was actually a pleasant surprise for me.
Oh, thats cool.
Cass just said "Giddyup" to her horse.
Something odd... I completed that quest where you save the Athenian's asshole brother from that camp in the south, but just as I finished it, a wolf attacked. I killed the wolf, but then the Athenian attacked me, so I had to kill him. No penalty, it seems. And the asshole brother seemed fine with it. Odd.
Optimism is a duty.That's correct.
Also boarding your ship resets them, and they may board their own ship.
I prefer those guys since they are unique, and also because if you got no bounty they'll just ignore you.
So what is the best strategy for upgrading and engraving weapons and armour? Do I engrave one weapon and keep upgrading, or just pick new weapons and engrave those?
Optimism is a duty.Kind of jumping back a page so I apologize, but I know how Bioware and a lot of developers do the animations in these scenes. I watched the same Extra Credits video. Canned animations are the easiest way to do things on a larger scale.
But, I think the problem Bioware and AC and a lot of other AAA developers are hitting is that canned animations aren't working very well anymore. The animation in general is getting so much more complex that the shift between canned and hand animated scenes are too jarring. That isn't to say that canned animation CAN'T work these days; Dragon Age: Inquisition got clever with its animations and was still able to have compelling scenes all the while AND still have some pretty good cinematography and make good use of their sets.
That scene I linked was TERRIBLE. Like, if this was an alpha state, sure, I could see it pass. But in a full release? No, this should have gotten a second pass over ages ago. There's no excuse for these scenes to get such terrible animation. And, even then, the animation is only a 1/3 of the problem with that scene; the writing and the voice acting is also equally terrible and none of them are covering for eachother's problems just making a mess of everything. The actors aren't talented enough to work with a bad script and the animations aren't good enough to distract from the bad dialogue and delivery.
I may not have liked Unity due to bad writing, but at least the cinematography, animations, and acting were giving it their all. Unity was gorgeous to look at during cutscenes and the characters were plenty expressive. And at the very least it distracted me from how bad the writing was. The scene introducing Elise at the ball in Versailles is actually very well done, despite some of the game's overall odd graphic choices (There's no camera focus; the game instead switches out low res models to simulate things being out of focus).
And, yes, the character decisions I've seen with the gay options are disappointing and what I've seen of the female options seem a bit more promising, if still with the occasional sleaze (The verility potion woman?). I haven't seen too many of them, but my impression so far is that they expected you to play as a man and romance a woman, so those got more polish while the male options were given lesser priority. This obviously then gives the added 'bonus' that the lesbian romances got the same amount of attention.
But like I said, I've only seen all the gay ones and maybe two of the straight ones.
It feels really wrong to sail on a ship that doesn't have a steering wheel. The first time I saw one docked, I thought it must not be finished yet because the wheel was missing.
Optimism is a duty.I'm late to the party - bought Syndicate a few days ago because I wasn't aware that Odyssey was launching on the 5th, and thought I had a bit more time. I'm liking it so far - I like the Fryes and I love the setting - but it is a bit galling how every single chapter uses the same 'you killed one person, now the entirety of society is falling apart and it's your fault' thing. It's like, yeah, sure, I doubt stabbing Pearl Attaway helped the company, but it's surely no different than if the aforementioned had suffered a heart attack, right? What the heck happened to the rest of the company?
Really, what I'm getting from it isn't that Jacob's too reckless, it's that the Templars are to blame for centralizing everything under themselves and not actually building reliable infrastructure - though I'm sure "Jacob is too reckless" is the point the writers are going for.
Even though the end of Sequence 6 and the collapse of the Bank of England only happened because Aberdine, the idiot, strode into the street, arrested every banker he saw, and declared them "under arrest for stealing from the people of England" in full view of the townspeople instead of, you know, actually doing his job.
I get that the Fryes are basically off the leash here, but come on.
It's been fun.Do what you want and can afford. Engravings early aren't super important because they are rather weak, but you'll unlock more as you play. Similarly, upgrading items will also get more and expensive, especially if you want to upgrade your boat too. Engraving itself isn't super expensive, so you can do it a bit more liberally
So you're gonna have to pick what you upgrade and what you just replace for higher level items.
Yeah, I went for whatever good gear I have right now, and sure enough it turned into Rainbow Pimp Gear.
I'm just going to say it: I don't like this constantly having to upgrade your gear. I liked it much better when you had a limited collection of armour and weapons with fixed stats, that would always stay the same strength no matter what level you are. Now I'm paying through the nose just to make some arbitrary numbers go up, and it just doesn't feel nearly as satisfying as saving up money to buy a shiny new sword with better stats. I feel like I'm playing with statistics, now, instead of with weapons and armour.
And I'm not saying this system is always wrong, but it should be more tied to the actual skill of the player and the character they play, instead of an arbitrary number floating over one's head. Because now you get the ridiculous situation that an enemy is nigh unstoppable just because his number is two more than yours, not because he is actually a better fighter than you.
That isn't roleplaying. That's just fighting with statistics.
Optimism is a duty.Get the feeling the writers and level designers aren't always on the same page.
Herodotos mentions how Andros is famous for the quality of the marble is exports.
Things the island of Andros does not have in game:
- A City
- A Quarry
- A Port
I discovered that your ship CAN'T bombard enemies on shore, their spears and arrows go right through them. You CAN use your ship as a convenient archery platform that your enemies cannot reach. Said enemies will proceed to confusedly line up on shore, where you can pelt them with arrows.
Speaking of arrows, being able to craft your own is great improvement over having to run to the nearest store every time.
Optimism is a duty.I'm annoyed that despite not killing Nikolaos The game acts like I did. Kass even claims she did. X_X
Double post, but someone's gonna have to explain to me how the conquest battle work. I murder 5 captains, 25 soldiers (on a defensive battle, so my side has the advantage) and Athens still finds a way to lose. Like, WTF.
Speed. You don't have time to focus on the regular soldiers, for a long time.
Si Vis Pacem, Para PerkeleWell, I just ran into something particularly annoying. Some loot is labeled as owned, and you can steal it. Now, when you are doing a side quest for someone, it is entirely possible to accidentally steal something after killing someone and trying to loot them, turning the quest giver against you, and failing the quest.
Optimism is a duty.Yeah, you pretty much have to go captain hunting in order to have any luck, and even then it's usually a really near thing. If I'm killing soldiers, it's almost exclusively the light infantry because those I can kill quickly and get back to hunting officers.
It's almost reminiscent of playing Dynasty Warriors.
Syndicate is done, or rather, I'm done with it, aside from the Victoria missions. That was fun! Took a while to get back into the AC swing of things, but I loved Jacob and Evie and their dynamics, even though there wasn't really enough of it for me.
Picking up Odyssey now, though I'll have to wait for the download, of course.
It's been fun.So animal taming: Marginally more useful than ACO as in now animals can take on mook relatively well, though they get overwhelmed easily against large numbers. The pets also heal out of combat, and don't follow you indoors.
The main flaw is that the pets completely annihilates stealth.
I'm so annoyed today. I spent half an hour whittling down this legendary captain's health so I could knock him out and recruit him... and he rolls down a hill, takes slight damage, and DIES on me.
Optimism is a duty.
It is the first one. On the starter island. He was stuck on a small stretch of road, running back and forth.
I also saw a lighting glitch where the moonlight on a rock dissapeared when I turned the camera.
And I fell through the level when I got stuck behind some stupid tree root in a cave.
So that's three bugs in what, four hours?
Another weird animation thing: if you turn Cass around in the inventory screen, her ponytail bounces back and forth as if it was made of rubber.
I found the Wolf of Death who was one level higher than me, I think...
