just started playing bro-hood due to steam sale. i'm trying and failing at remembering all the minutiae of the previous titles.

and I forgot how clunky the PC controls are at first.

Addendum: I forgot that Bioware has a monopoly on good character writing, too. booooo archetypes.

On the subject of controversy; has this series actually managed to avoid any uproar regarding its treatment of religion or history?

I mean it is sorta like a Dan Brown novel; only less offensive and more entertaining. And it makes slightly more sense.

I wonder what those alien dudes are up to. Assasin's Creed Brotherhood's ending was as big a cliffhanger as Halo 2's.

[up]Not really, mostly because it doesn't deal with religion and stays away from major historical events.

There are Templars who turn up at the end of AC 1? Say what now?

After the final Animus sequence and Desmond is pulled out, yeah. They're talking to you from the conference room about the information gained from Altair's memories. I'm guessing they're some of the heads of Abstergo.

I'm kinda ticked because when they were there I didn't realise you could change which camera you're watching from and get a view of them. It was only after they left that I realised.

[up]ebecca was pretty much the only person not to come across as a jerk in that conversation. The character dynamics between Shawn/Desmond/Lucy seem so fucked and OOC in Brotherhood. Shaun is at the very least Flanderised. It's my biggest complaint of the game.

Does anyone else think that the script in AC 2 is excellent? At least in the first few sequences, it felt inspired. As of sequence 8, it seems like its dragging on, though.

Yeah I vaguely remember the story surprising me in 2. Brohood just doesn't feel right. Too much flirting with Desmond/Lucy maybe. Desmond does not have an Italian accent so it just doesn't feel right.

AC 2 was well written IMO. At first I thought it was going to be a standard revenge story, but then they threw in more on the apple of eden and the aliens.

Brotherhood more or less was about explaining how the Assasin's guild actually worked.

Too much flirting with Desmond/Lucy maybe.
I hated that so much.

Oh no! Desmond killed Lucy! Meh. Maybe he'll get a better love interest.

Loved Rebecca and Shaun, though. Shaun's gone from a Jerkass who hates that they need Desmond to a Jerk with a Heart of Gold that loves talking about history.*

Also loved me that little Shaun/Rebecca tease.

Do you have a PS 3 or 360 console, Choobeh? If you do, then try looking up Motion In Joy. It's a website that allows you to configure your console controllers for use on PC games. Hell, even the vibration and motion detection works on some games! You just need to download their drivers, carefully follow the installation instructions, and then set up your own control scheme.

yeah I've got MotionInJoy for my Super Meat Boy pleasure. Wait, that came out wrong.

Anyway, I'll see if a gamepad plays better.

[up][up]I've got my PS 3 controller set up to play brotehrhood on the PC. It's not hard to configure.

I kept on having Prince Of Persia flashbacks during the Desmond/Lucy flirting. Parkour, team acrobatics, Lucy crawling into tight spaces while we pushed buttons. Except shitty writing let Brotherhood down. I like Brotherhood's mean storyline a lot more, so far. A lot of the minor characters are more memorable — though I find its treatment of Machiavelli riddiculous. He's so much smarter than they way they portray him. I'm glad he's got more screentme though — in 2 he was barely even there.

And Hey! Kristen Bell's a fantastic actor. (...at least i think so :P) Is Lucy actually dead, you think? I was kinda hoping they'd end up tag-teaming in teh Animus, for some reason.

Well she may or may not be dead, it's left ambiguous.

In other news, how fucking good is the song in the Revelations trailer?

Very! Though I think they should've had Altair do a Leap Of Faith at the part with the gallows for extra cool points.

The Revelations trailer is unbelievably awesome.

I love that video games are putting out trailers as good as movie ones. The Dead Space 2 trailer was similarly brilliant.

Also, I think I've already said it on this very page, but I don't give a shit that Lucy is dead. She was really starting to grate on me and I found her "flirty" dialogue with Desmond to be awful.

Besides, ever turn on Eagle Vision in Monterriggggioni? There's a trail of Red (enemy) footsteps leading to the villa, and the footsteps terminate around the same place where they stopped the van.

Conclusion should be obvious.

It's not over. Not yet.
