Before I start on the topic, I need to describe one form of Life Energy in my Fictional World.

Flux: A form of spiritual energy which can be replenished whenever the person who naturally produces this is exposed to chi. Flux can be controlled outside the body (at the expense of the energy produced by consuming food). You can do three things with Flux:

  • Consume - Sacrificing some amount of flux to use your powers. The amount of flux determines the strength of the attack.
  • Release - Sacrificing some amount of flux to release pure kinetic energy (this release does not follow the third law of motion ie releasing said energy on another object doesn't throw you back) which can be used as an attack or as a support move (as i'm about to). This becomes exponentially harder to do the farther away it is from the user. Releasing Flux gives off more energy the longer the unreleased Flux is allowed to absorb chi, which can only happen outside the body.
  • Seal - Coating the body (or specific parts of it) or released flux with the right amount of raw flux. Has the effect that released flux upon making contact with a body only increases the kinetic energy of the body instead of damaging it directly (example: Releasing some flux onto your ribs could break them and throw you back, while sealing the released flux will only induce the latter effect).

Now for the Flash Step:

  • The user sends Flux out of his body from both the ventral and dorsal sides. He Seals both sides with some flux. Then he releases some flux on his dorsal side, accelerating him to a velocity way above what is required to become invisible.
  • At the same time, he starts releasing flux on his ventral side in two directions:
    • The first in the forward direction, to push away any particulate matter and to thin out the air in front of him, reducing friction.
    • The second on his body, to gradually reduce his speed, making him visible at the end of the Flash Step.

In my universe, the Flash Step is only used for quickly changing one's location. Mid-step slashing would only break your hand. Also, since you're moving obscenely fast, You need to memorize your surroundings to make sure you don't smash into trees, or even your opponent.

So, what do you think? Other than the effects of the rapid change in velocity on your body, i think i took care of the other problems. Are there any problems with this version of the Flash Step?

If I knew how I know everything I know, I'd only be able to know half as much because my brain would be clogged up with where I know it from
