Do you want kids?

My understanding is that ease of adoption really depends on whether you insist on a healthy baby or not. I've read that there are many older children, or children with special needs who are in need of parents. I'm not an expert though.

Most of the time I want my kids, but they can be exasperating now and again. If you don't want kids, don't have them; you need to love and want them to not run screaming sometimes. Pregnancy and childbirth are not trivial risks to take even if you plan to give up the child; and if you plan to raise a child because someone else wants you to, well, please don't. It isn't fair to the kid or to you.

I don't think that autism or mental illness automatically means someone can't be a good parent; not wanting a child is a perfectly good reason on its own, it doesn't need justification.

No, I don't ever want kids. I will someday be the cool uncle for my nephews and nieces that my brother and sister have with their respective partners, but I will never have any of my own.

I dislike kids, they frustrate me and I can't connect with them due to a lack of paternal instincts and sheer disinterest. Also, you have no idea how happy I am that other people feel this way, almost everyone I know wants kids or has them.

I take it a lot of troper feel a cultural expectation to have children then.

I won't mind having kids, but in this economy when employment rates are bad, I don't think IO can afford to have one, and BTW, I don't wanna go through the labor pains of delivering one. So, it's zig-zagged for me.

Someday, but only after I've gotten my degree and done at least some traveling. Seeing the world ain't too feasible with kids.

I would LOVE to have children. Two maximum, but I would love me some progeny~

I'd be cool with twins or triplets, I guess.

But I don't want lots of children running everywhere.

conjugated twins maybe? they'll all be in one place then.

I still definitely don't want kids. I doubt that's going to change, since I don't really like kids and they piss me off way too much to want to have that 24/7 for 20+ years. Plus I'd be a lousy dad, I have next to no paternal instincts and if I can't handle babysitting kids for a few hours, I definitely wouldn't be a good dad.

I'm going to try and be there for my sister's kids when they come along though, but I don't know how that'll go.

No change since the last time,...except that I am no longer single. I'm still in no position,but one day for sure,and yeah I can imagine it with my girlfriend. I just hope that doesn't become the breaker.

I like the idea of two,maybe three. But no more than that.

If you wanted to know if it could be a deal breaker, you could have asked.

And no, it wouldn't. Though three is a big maybe for me.

Sorry. I was lurking this thread way before we started dating. Thought I'd put my opinion somewhere in here before this, but apparently not.

Sometimes, you don't get much choice. My aunt wanted two: step one worked and she got her little boy. Then she got twin girls as step 2... plus.

...It depends over the situation, and who I'm having it with. I could see myself having it, the idea excites me, but it's something that isn't required anyway.

It just happens, if it does? Even when I do like children and could handle them well. Something about their smile makes me all fuzzy and warm...

I had decided long ago, after seeing several people take care of their own kids, that I would not, under any condition, have kids. They're simply too noisy and fussy to take care of, and I'm lazy. If I did have kids, they're likely to be taken away to be taken care of better, knowing my track record with life under my care.

I'd much rather be the awesome uncle anyway.

The closest I want to having more children is maybe hosting foreign exchange students or something like that. I'm not eligible to be a foster parent or adopt so that'll be the closest I get to more munckins.

Well you have a kid . Which means your streets ahead compared to the rest of us.
