Soul Calibur/Soul Series

I'm watching Mitsurugi's story now. Maybe it's just because of how recently I watched Zas's story, but I'm thinking I might need to rewatch it to confirm that there are no suggestions that Edge Master is King Arthur.

Either way, the "once and future" part does make it possible.

The one really weird part about that story mode is Seong Mi-na. Every character has the same guy narrating their story, except Mi-na. She narrates her own story. For some reason.

Oh, wait, I forgot, there is one person whose story is weirder than Mi-na's. Zasalamel.

I mean.

It's very in-character for Mina to kick the narrator off and do things herself, if she is given the opportunity.

Hoping for an open blazer jacket for the girls in the next parts pack... one of my OCs needs one for her look to be complete and the cropped jacket just isn't the same tbh. I mean I could use the closed one but then I wouldn't be able to use the shirt with the vest over it. Smh. I love this game to bits but... gah.

Watched Siggy's story. It, and his face, voice, and artwork, are so hilariously angsty.

And I've also seen Xianghua's. And Astaroth's some time ago. Lingyu, Ker... all these minor characters are really fun! I will of course plan on making them all in CAS.

So Voldo's story. Wow... this game's dev team has a true love for the series and its lore, and it shows. With that short story mode, they have made me care more about Voldo than every other game in the series.

Also, can we talk about how badass young Voldo must have been? To have Vercci's full trust (and love) to barter with Cervantes... to travel the world years later as a blind and mute man... and so keenly body attuned that I can now believe how he would live to his old age. He's like a pre-Heihachi Heihachi.

And the Enrico part. FEELS.

To think Voldo was the most anine of them all...

Interestingly enough, i had the same reaction to Astaroth. I never thought of him as a thinker or planner ir even cunning, just a person who loved a slaughter. But the amount of time he pauses and discusses with ker, and his own realization he may run his usefulness if he completes hjs mission, gives me way more respect now more than ever.

I recall how Astaroth in Soul Calibur II had a very limited vocabulary, but he spoke longer sentences in III and then again in IV. I like the idea that he starts off pretty dumb, cause, you know, he just got made, but as time goes by he grows to be quite smart.

Also, Voldo apparently had 4 brothers who all died in a war at some point.

Hell, this game also did a ton for Vercci.

I forget when the last time I brought it up was, but the wiki (which, on my recent read, is in dire need of editing, proofing, and fact checking) has a page on cut characters. It's readily visible that several of the cut characters' weapons and backgrounds were reworked far later into the series. The eighth image shows one character who seems to have been split into Chester from SC 3 and Groh from SC 6.
I'm surprised they still haven't implemented a khopesh character. I guess that'll be in the next game?

I keep forgetting Geralt is in this game.
This is both a good thing and a bad thing. There was a time when it seemed people only cared about this series for the guest characters. Now it seems some people only care about the game as a character customizing engine. I'm still happy with the game's own characters.

Yeah vercci got a lot of fleshing out this game. I found it pretty cool that he had a role in Cervantes' story and not just voldo's.

I've watched through all of them, finishing just a few days ago.

And while some of them are duds (with Kilik's being the only justifiable one, since his story is pretty much already covered through the main story mode), most of them were actually pretty good, providing some information on the characters and making sure they all have some new understanding given in their stories.

Voldo being a particularly surprising example.

The frame data comment is...interesting, considering tekken guides come with frame daya for every attack for the entire roster. I guess SC is the more casual of the 2?

So its been really queit here lately, so I just remembered that Amy's story is a thing.

So Lord Dumas was a supporter of Azwel and his goons, and Azwel himself is responsible for Amy losing some ofher memories...Not only that, but Azwel helped Raphael with knowledge of Soul Edge, edging him towards a dark future.After fighting off Azwel and learning of Raphael's mad scheme, She goes on a journey to find him and bring him home.

Damn, Azwel is showing up a lot in these stories. He's a whackjob but i hope he returns in the future. Also if it wasnt more obvious by now, Dance of the Oracle plays when you fight Azwel.

The game is currently $20 on Steam (for PC) and at Best Buy (for consoles).

Even though my Laptop can't play it, and I have a long backlog of games to finish, I thought about getting it.

Not bad for a fighting game that came out last year and still has a thriving base. Id say grab it and wait for a computer upgrade to dive in

After the final DLC character I wonder if they're going to announce a 2nd season or a sequel.

I like to think Soul Calibur still got some life.

Season 2 is also, for the first time ever, giving new moves and mechanics and changes on the same title. Guard impacting unblockables, a revamp of reversal edges, and more!

Very fitting for Haohmaru to appear in Soul Calibur.

It will be awkward for him and Mitsurugi due to both being based on the same person, though...
