Character Development Thread--Discussion

Should have some more time to write tonight and tomorrow. The rest of this week shouldn't be as busy as last.

Pyxo, if I finish my section for David before you've responded with Nasur, do you mind if I go ahead and advance the group into the room? That was my original intention actually, but then I ran out of time. It's not the biggest of deals either way.

edit: Ah, well that's that settled then. Still working on this next post. Been a bit of a drag... the sort of thing I should have written in one go when the feeling for it was strongest, as it doesn't bear repeat visits well. But time hasn't been generous. I'll try to push through and finish today or tomorrow, since the weekend will be busy. We'll see how it turns out.

Dealing with writer's block in that regard. Trying to work through it.

If it'd help, I could alter Aseyu's response, up to and including retconning her into declining. (This wouldn't require an out-of-character moment; it'd just represent a different at-the-moment weighing of Aseyu's interests and traits.)

There we go. Should be the longest post I do for a while. I hope it's not too miserable of a read because it kind of sucked to write, but I wanted to keep exploring dream stuff and I had the idea for David rattling around a little while. Edited it more than usual, but less than I think I probably should have.

Anyway, the relevant present-time interaction is at the end, duly marked (Present).

I've got two or three drawings I'll try to scan and share tomorrow.

I uh...don't know what to write. Ryuhza and Pyxo can skip me for this one lol.

Changed my mind about the drawings. I'll get them out sometime this week, but I think I just need a break right about now. Too many deadlines as of late.

Kay, here's two:

Henry◊, wearing yesterday's clothes.
David◊, shortly after waking. After calming down, sort of. Up on down on whether or not I regret drawing this.

Should have a Connie or two later on if I can tidy up some more drawings, plus a David as he appears at the end of last post. Not today though.


Edit: If I can clarify anything in my last post to help with responses, please ask. I intentionally kept a lot of it vague, but thinking back, there's probably a few interpretations that paint David's personal character in an extremely negative light. Without giving the the whole story away, let me just say that it's a perception of events distorted by time, guilt, and... y'know, being a dream. I wrote about the theater event back near the end of Frontier, and that remains a generally more accurate portrayal of events from an objective standpoint. The dream has a lot of David's intervening emotions and unrelated events mixed in. Kind of a personal reinterpretation, trying to make sense out of senselessness.

Struggling to think of something interesting to do for Mort, Koyel and Gyaltsen, unfortunately.

Think I'll have some more time to write this week, should the opportunity arise. Not the following week though— exams out the wazoo.

Starting March 1st, I'm going to be very, very, very busy. So posts are gonna be sparse but I will still try my best to post when I can.

I mean right now I don't know what to write and I'm waiting on Samelin BUT POINT STILL STANDS lol.

Reevaluating my time a bit having looked at my next assignment... but I'm still optimistic.


Is there anything I can do to help? Short of a sixth sense, Maria should only be able to react to what she sees before her, right? I know it's not so easy for us as the authors, but sometimes characters just won't have the perfect responses for a situation.

I could write a little further if need be, but I already feel like I'm steering too much of the thread as is. Plus, I'm still waiting to hear from Pyxo.

Actually, yeah, I could use some help. She doesn't really know Davey that well, so I wasn't sure what she would say to him, other than her usual southern "hello darling" or something like that, lol.

Hmmm. Yeah, I'm having difficulty thinking of more to do with the discussion about interdimensional travel. Do you want me to edit my post to have Wolf ask them something about what they do? They come across as people engaged in stuff that would normally be "classified", though, so it's not something he has asked about.

Nothing wrong with a greeting like that if—for all she knows—this is just how Davey is in the morning. Is that to assume that Amy and Maya didn't share too much from their time with him in Frontier?

Okay, lemme post and not hold y'all up!

Less "classified", more "completely illegal". But yes, that is an issue; obviously they're not going to freely confess to all the crimes. That said, Wolf could poke at the legal parts of their past — the organization Mort nominally works for, Gyaltsen's curious artistic talent, or Koyel's farm boy past — without too much trouble, especially since he's dealing with fairly non-technical people.
