Also, what's the ETA for the notice board? Or am I up and totally dropped the ball?

When in doubt, you can always check the order of the previous set of posts and see who hasn't gone yet.


Oh, and quick thing I forgot to mention about my last post is that the second half occurs chronologically during the few seconds that Joseph's eyes are closed right at the end of the first half.

According to my notes, I've drafted Soryn reacting to everyone except Mael. I think it's Masterofchaos's turn at the bulletin board.

Question. I never said the barrel of the gun was destroyed. As far as I know (it's the wilderness), there were no other barrels (e.g. barrels of wine) around for Arnaya to use as target practice, hence why she aimed at the ground. Did I unknowingly have Arnaya do something that would destroy a gun barrel, without me knowing that's the consequence for X?

Also, did Amy just accidentally smear Arnaya's blood on herself during the hug? That scent mark sends the wrong message to other vampires who notice.

Well, I assumed the barrel was destroyed considering that pieces of it kind of flew over and injured Aranya during her demonstration, but I'll edit it. Also, I figured that Amy would have some blood stains on her shirt since she hugged Aranya.

That's not what I said at all. Arnaya set up the gun to shoot through her own gliding membrane, as a Deliberate Injury Gambit to shock Nasur, thus cementing a Gun Safety rule into his head.

I rephrased part of Arnaya's telepathic exposition to John, thusly: "Adam was reluctant, too, citing claustrophobia. That's a typical trick of Sarquoql, he likes to afflict his mind-control victims with claustrophobia in an attempt to guilt us into letting them out of the medical pods against protocol. I wouldn't be surprised if Mael does the same thing."

By the way, masterofchaos, you misspelled Sarquoql's name again.

Nyorla and Zing are the only two of that group who are still in town, they've moved off to the parking lot. Nyorla swapped Blackthorn for Plasma, Murquoql left for the rainforest, and Zip was sent away with another character of mine. Be advised that Nyorla has set up the means to make a Teleport Interdiction field around the parking lot but she has not yet activated it.

Ok since it just appears to be the three of us Miss, I do have another WOF question: do they really assume someone being sad and wanting to be alone or someone having claustrophobia a sign of mind control?

It really depends on the circumstances. Sadness? Not usually. Wanting to be alone? Depends heavily on the location, e.g. nobody would have batted an eye if Adam had isolated himself in a dormitory room or an obscure corridor of the spaceship, but they would definitely have sounded the alarm if he'd isolated himself in the cockpit or Engineering or a maintenance access cubbyhole. Claustrophobia? Yes — almost all of their experiences with it have involved mind-control victims protesting being put in a medical pod, and guess what happened when they used the hologram-equipped medical room originally built for Swanwhite instead of the medical pods? The victims complained of agoraphobia!

I haven't yet gotten a chance to show the kinds of guilt-trips Sarquoql implants in his mind-control victims for them to try to use against the Web of Friendship, but you'll see what I mean if the Web has reason to capture the archaeologist, or if Sarquoql abducts and mind-controls a member of the Web of Friendship.

By the way, is Morag based on a particular feline species? If she's based on a cougar, then as soon as Rosalind gets a better smell of that, Rosalind will instinctively try to apply bits and pieces of her previous experiences with cougars to the situation.

Morag's animal traits are based on those of a Kellas cat, a large black hybrid of wildcat and domestic cats.

She gets mistaken for being a cat sith, a fairy cat and/or witch, because most people haven't actually seen one. She is not a fae creature, though. She's just your average Highland Cat Girl.

Additional notes: The potion Claire is holding works on undead, and should work on Aynara, despite her being a vampire. It's also cherry-flavored. These potions are the results of years of alchemic research, not divine miracles made liquid.

Fun fact: the reason the potion is red is that the original color is silvery, and can be mistaken for the element mercury.

Good news, I found a way to edit my drafts and notes for this thread. Bad news, positioning the cursor with a touchscreen instead of a mouse is an enormous pain in the rear. Between that and no text wrap on the notepad program I'm using on this tablet, writing upcoming story posts is slow frustrating work. Worse news, I can't copypaste. Assuming I somehow manage to write anything, I won't be able to post it until I get home. I wouldn't be surprised if I end up posting a megapost a day or two after I get home.
