@Vertigo's post
You see the way that Feng player hardly juggles at all? Some characters are more juggle happy than others, and the game has enough moves and viable combos that if you don't like juggling, you don't have to to be competitive.
Urgh, I forgot how obnoxious Tekken AI is.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Actually, if you know the game decently, the AI is pretty easy up until the hardest setting.
this place needs me hereI suppose I'm just saying that because getting knocked down is such a hassle compared to 2D fighters.
Or maybe Its because I'm playing pre Tekken 3 Tekken :P
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Oh, that second one could be it.
The fact that every character takes a nap after being knocked down in the earlier games keeps me from enjoying them.
this place needs me hereHere I am, trying to play these earlier games for the story (and because I love the fuck out of the soundtrack for 2), and man, it's so slow for what it is. I can't stand games where you spend a majority of the time in hitstun than any actual fighting.
I'll just play Tekken Tag Tournament 1. The story became bollocks anyway.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.The speed thing is precisely why I enjoy the newer Tekken games. Also because I like the expanded movelists; playing where many inputs do absolutely nothing is a strange experience. AND also because you don't jump like a kangaroo on the moon anymore.
this place needs me hereNow I'm afraid to touch Soul Blade. I used to love it so much.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.You know, like Death by Degrees for Nina, Yoshimitsu should get his own spinoff, a la Ninja Gaiden, where he robs greedy Third World dictators and gives out their ill-gotten gains to the poor, while also fighting supernatural stuff and the sort. Who's with me?

My moneys. Take it, take ALL OF MY MONEYS!
Cortex should take a 12-step plan off a 10-step pierWhy were Lars and Alisa hated at first around the time Tekken 6 came out?
Lars was hated because it was "ANOTHER FUCKING MISHIMA!?"
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987Plus, for those who were interested in the current story with Jin and Kazuya and whatnot, Lars kind of showed up out of nowhere and hijacked the whole damn thing, leaving Jin & Kazuya in the background until the very end. You also don't learn anything you don't already know until the very end.
this place needs me hereAlisa is also extremely stereotypically "anime" compared to much of the cast - not unlike Xiayou or, to a lesser extent, Lili, and some (myself included) just don't care for her inclusion.
Thanks, and also, anyone know which nationality is G-Corporation?
G-Corporation transcends nationality.
And proper explanation, for that matter.

this place needs me hereI don't hate Lars or Alisa.
I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting AgencyYeah, but if I recall, Mishima Zaibatsu is obviously Japanese, so which country would G-Corporation's headquarters be in? Also, how does it transcend proper explanation.

Probably Japan.
Well G-Corp just kind of showed up out of the blue in Tekken 4, and now its... THERE, but we know next to nothing about it. It's never been explained very well just what G-Corp is.

this place needs me hereHas it ever actually been established what the Mishima Zaibatsu is? What the companies do seems secondary to the fact that they exist, and are rivals.
The Zaibatsu is a conglomeration of multiple franchises and businesses. Zaibatsu in real life are essentially mega-corporations with considerable financial and political influence, so the vagueness of the Mishima Zaibatsu actually isn't even that bad.
I believe they dealt in military weaponry and technology more heavily than anything else (The Tekken Force, The Jacks before G-Corp stole their thunder, and, once Kaz took over and really started corrupting the place, the bioengineering of Alex, Roger, and eventually crazy shit like those weird bosses in that Tekken 5 minigame.)
Plus the high school it operates. Because why not.
The Tekken games have had some damn good soundtracks...
I've just been listening to old tracks from the games I haven't played in a long time, and it's bringing in some nostalgia. Tekken Tag 2's soundtrack is solid almost all across the board, but it doesn't have that unique late 90's early 2000's techno that something like Tag 1 has. Going to mix around some things in Tekken Tunes pretty soon.
Have you guys got any favorite songs or soundtracks from the series?

I was thinking of picking up Tekken 6 used, but I'm wondering if I should wait for Tekken Tag 2 instead.
I'm also planning on getting SFXT once it goes down in price and the DLC characters are released, but I don't know when that will be. If the DLC characters come out around the same time TTT 2 does on consoles, should I just get TTT 2 instead? I realize that both games play very differently, but I'd like to just get one fighting game at a time.
