Mortimer wrote a note in his diary, making sure the diary was out of everyone's line of sight. It read "Be wary of the Paladin. And always stay out of reach of his Smite Evil ability. I read the Evil Today Magazine, and there was a page in the Health section about the constant health risk of traveling with a Paladin. There have been cases of Evil co-workers who would go off adventuring, only to never come back because they got struck by Smite Evil. Not good for the business."

"My tribe went to serve a lich. I didn't particularly wish to join the Lich's Mooks, so I went freelance. Been mercing ever since.", she said.

"Aha! Backstory revelation! My favorite! Well, I come from the Winterstar family who are servants to the Summercloud noble family. I, personally, was not interested in wasting my dashing talents and striking good looks on serving Ne'er-do-well nobility so I left just as soon as I could and have been travelling the lands ever since." Seigmund said, eleganlty lying through his teeth.

"So, ahem, I hate to kill the mood but I forget, what exactly is at the end of this trail we find ourselves walking upon? I notice that these bandits have a bit of a slant about the eyes, are we near The Azure City? I don't suppose anybody has any ranks in Knowledge Geography, hmm?"

"If believe so. I think we are a day away by horse, but I didn't get that high of a roll so I can't be sure. If my geography is correct then there should be a town a few miles away from here.", Pathor said to his teammates.

"Oh good," exclaimed Mortimer, "we've been along this goddamn track for almost a week now, and I can't wait to put my feet up in a tavern. Are we really that close to Azure City? It's been ages since I've been there. The last time I visited Azure City, I was a teenager in my twenties. Heh. Good times, good times."

"Ahhh, Azure City," Ricen said with a little smile on his head. "The city solely based around my favorite colour: Blue. Amazing place. Albeit fucking insane sometimes."

"Yes, Azure city is a nice place to visit. The paladins should be pleasant as long as they don't find out I'm a liberal paladin. Generally other paladins consider the liberal paladin an insult and a mockery of all that paladins stand for. As long as I don't say anything they won't know. The city is big enough that there should be plenty of sidequests. I could really use the experience. ", Pathor said in response to Azure city.

"Those goddamn conservative Paladins. They're racist! if you're Evil, you have to die! Evil-killing fascists who go around smiting people just because they are of a certain alignment" said Mortimer. "I was born Evil. I can't help but be Evil!"

"Yes, that was an unbelievably intelligent thing to shout at the top of your lungs near the paladin capital of the known world."

Seigmund, did however agree with him. What these boy-scouts didn't understand is that a little chaos never hurt anybody. The Azure City was sure to be a very real bore.

"I'm Chaotic Neutral! Paladins gotta leave me alone.", she said.

Mortimer then realised how near he was to the Paladin capital of the world. The look on his face was priceless. "Shit!" he exclaimed.

"Don't worry I don't think anyone heard you. Even if the Paladins are boring we can still get some quests from the guilds in town."

"Good idea," said Mortimer "It sure is reassuring not to travel with a Lawful Stupid Paladin."

"Every little bit helps!" Ricen laughed. "Besides, we should count our blessings not all Paladins are as bad as this Miko character I keep hearing about."

"Miko? Is she some sort of famous Paladin or something?"

"Miko, is the reason most people hate paladins. She is one of the most annoying paladins around. Even her own order tries to get rid of her.", Pathor said with distaste at Miko's name.

"Aye, from what I heard she takes her job to a very disturbingly obsessive job. She thinks everything evil should simply die, and that her actions justify the means if she prays to the 12 Gods." he said, swippng his hand through the sky. "So, yeah, she'd have a load of fun with Mortimer here."

Mortimer's face turned a shade of green at the thought of encountering Miko. "Just remember; whenever we stay at hotels in Azure City, don't sleep in a bed that's missing a tag" he said.

"It would also probably help if you didn't commit any crimes that would bring attention to us." Ricen said with a small shrug. "But knowing this group, that's gonna happen..." he gave a soft sigh and a shake of his head. "It ALWAYS happens."

"That business with the inn several days back was NOT my fault! How exactly was I to know she was married... to the magistrate... of the entire county... And yes I know he's sworn vengeance on all things Winterstar, and bounty hunters out to serve my loins to him on a silver platter are bound to become a recurring plot point, but I must repeat, TWAS NOT MY FAULT!"

"Sometimes I question whether this group intends to sabotage us at times...' he said, shaking his head again and sighing. Of course, this was..."What, the sixth bounty on someone in this group? But either way, people, we're wasting daylight expositioning in the middle of the road! We've got ground to cover!"

"Yeah, I'd hate to be ambushed in a night. I don't have low light vision.", Pathor sheaved his sword after realizing he hadn't put it away yet.

Hope this helps get things back up and moving, if only by prompting people to post.

Meanwhile, Unbeknownst to the "heroes", but knownst to anyone who paid attention to the golden letters drifting across the sky, Grantorn, a trogolodyte cleric of Tiamat, was also making his way to the Azure city.

"I'm getting tired of taking all these turns to get to Azure city. Can we just speed up time and kill and random encounters we would normally encounter?"
