Episode Numero Quattro
Uh oh. The person from the start of the last episode (who's male) is gone. Sayaka has a sad.
Sayaka's thinking about wishing him healthy again.
Epic voiceover time! Sayaka tells us all that miracles and the price you pay for them are too big for us to understand. ...Still not convinced that being a Puella is overly horrible.
Madoka is also having a sad, which I can understand.

Sayaka's hiding her sads, though. And Monura's looking like QUALITY as she linefaces at the teacher's crud.
Madoka and Sayaka talk about if they still want to be Puella, and Madoka doesn't want to be a Puella anymore, after Mam—

Apparently, there's going to be another Puella in the hood pretty soon, and they can be kinda bitchy. Understandable.
Oh, and Kyubey reckons it's time to bugger off and find a replacement for Mami, since they won't step up and become Puella.
Madoka's in her room and is crying, and dammit I feel like she needs a hug.
Homura rocks up. She says, in a very roundabout way, 'stop blaming yourself'. I'm liking her more already. Then she goes on to say that even if Madoka had become a Puella before, Mami still would have copped it. And that dying alone in battle is the way for a Puella to go.
This understandably disturbs Madoka.
Homura's got some issues. She acts all mysterious and jealous of Mami 'cause Madoka says she'll always remember her, but doesn't like it when Madoka says the same for her.
And after the break, Sayaka's making two sides of a conversation work. Kyosuke spazzes out because he can never play an instrument ever again.
Then he says something about magic not existing. And cue Kyubey turning up on the windowsill.

Hitomi is under control of a Witch. Fffffuggle.
Madoka is freaked out something nasty, and tries to call Homura because there's a frakking suicide cult on the grounds. She manages to dump the poison, but escapes into a freaky-ass room where a Witch captures her. Come on, Homura! Any second now! Aaaany second now.
Oh shit. Flashbacks are showing. Ones of Mami living and being at Madoka's side and Madoka is hating this shit, as am I.
Holy crap. Sayaka shows up and kicks some serious ass.
Wait, that's Sayaka?
Oh... kay.
Okay, she used her wish to heal her brother. Cousin? Whatever. That fool better be grateful.
Then we get introduced to the new character, called Kyoko. She hates the fact that there's someone who took this 'perfect area' out from under her nose, and declares that she's going to defeat Sayaka (who has a bitchin' sword as her weapon, by the way).
With a horribly rape-y smile. Yeeeeeah.

This episode was a lot less nasty than last week's, actually. There's some horrible feeling-killing bits with Madoka but that comes more under 'expected' than 'HOLYSHITTHATGIRLJUSTGOTEATEN'.
Ahem. I'm starting to supect that Sayaka's going to die by episode 10. This sounds horrible and nasty and I hope I'm wrong with every fibre of my being, but I think it may be that kind of series.
Please don't kill Sayaka. She's almost as cool as Mami was, and only on the up. I could kinda guess that she was going to turn into a Puella as soon as she had that guilt trip moment and then Kyubey showed up.

I'm getting a distinct Foil feeling from Kyko — she's the assholish person who shows that just be cause they're the humans here doesn't mean they have to be nice about it. On the other hand, Homura is the scarred, bitter veteran who's seen that level of despair and destruction before and just watches from the sidelines, occasionally chipping in to own the nastier beasts.

Ahem. I'm still pushing Sayaka/Madoka, because they're positively adorable together. Also I've finally come to terms with Mami dying. Sorta.
Oh, and I found out that Sayaka's and Madoka's friend is called Hitomi. You learn something every day.
