And he does it again! But this time, he also added in the complication that units killed during evolution missions also count towards unit deaths, so he intentionally does the entirety of the game without any evolved strains.

The Zerg is probably the hardest race to do deathless runs because of how fragile their best units are.

Well, he had a hell of a time whenever the game tried to force him to use 'lings, to the point where he used Wild Mutation solely to keep them alive long enough to burrow them.

At least most of LOTV should be easier since the Protoss have tanky basic units and access to Psyonic Storm.

I was thinking that, but the campaign balances that out with the relentless bombardment of Hybrid enemies.

I generally prefer to just blow everything up with banelings, even in ranked MP, so that's impressive.

And here's the Protoss one, Nova Covert Ops version probably won't be far away.

The real interesting part about this mod is how these changes impact gameplay. Due to marines (and infantry in general) being smaller, this makes units with splash damage effects scarily effective at wiping out marine/medic/firebat blobs, but also makes it easier for infantry to focus fire without blocking each other out. Large units with poor range suffer greatly, since they will often end up in range of the enemy before they can actually be effective. This is especially true for colossal starships such as the Protoss Carrier or Mothership (which is STILL far smaller than it should be!) The best example occurs during the mission In Utter Darkness: Artanis's mothership dies almost instantly upon arrival due to being such a massive target and quickly aggro-ing half of the Zerg's anti-air units on the map.

Oh, and the Zerg Leviathan is sadly broken due to being so garguantuan - the poor guy can't even shoot correctly.

If you're interested in trying the mod out yourself, well... it's a bit tricky. The video creator and his friends weren't the first to attempt this: past mods either used scenario maps or outright modded the game files. Said Youtuber's method seems to be the latter, which is why some maps are downright broken or just painful to play on. No mod link is even provided, but if you want to find one of the older game mods, here you go: SCII RS MOD (Real Scale Melee)

In the time waiting for Nova: Covert Ops deathless to come out, GGG did a few other challenge runs such as pacifist Wings of Liberty and beating Wings of Liberty/Heart of the Swarm without production (too any flyers for LOTV),beating the Warcraft III campaigns without any deaths and Mindhawk developed a better campaign launcher for mods

But at any rate, here it is for those who haven't seen it yet, Nova: Covert Ops deathless.

This is more about the first game but do you think that the Terran Firebat's line about "propane or propane accessories" is a referrence to King of the Hill ?

Humankind is like a train. No matter how powerful the locomotive is, it can only travel as fast as its slowest car allows it to.

It's possible. Star Craft 2 did release after King of the Hill came to an end, and the joke lines spoken often tend to reference other media.

I thought that was super-obvious.

[up]Not everybody has seen / knows King of the Hill. I didn't know it exists until recently.

Sorry for straying from the topic.

I don't watch King of the Hill, but that Firebat reference has been around for ages. I suppose you didn't read it on some wiki either, because that's how I found out about it.

The Real Scale Legacy of the Void mod looks absolutely insane, especially the finale. There's been a whole lot of refining of the concept of real scale even compared to the already nice Wings of Liberty mod.
