Actually, does the game allow for custom teams or not really?

Gameplay wise, yes. You can even have Knuckles & Knuckles & Knuckles on the same team. However, the design principle they’re following seems to be to bring in characters in sets. Even though they probably won’t worry about consistency with the story mode (where teams don’t mix-and-match) for post-launch, they’d probably want to keep a visually even character select screen.

Though, if the other Chaotix do get in, the character they’d need to pull from elsewhere would probably be someone associated with the power-class within the series. I think Mighty could work, if Sega’s going to approve of the Mania bunch making a modern appearance.

I think they stated somewhere that they're not going to add DLC to the game.

I'd buy TSR if there were other Sega franchises as DLC. Like you could have a Genesis pack with Vectorman, Ristar and Dynamite Heady.

What they said was that they didn’t want to do paid dlc and micro transactions, so they tried to have as much game as possible at launch. They didn’t discount the possibility of DLC, as much as they expressed that they didn’t want to exploit the consumer.

It’s only been out for a week, and the game isn’t levying for a season pass.

Sorry I honestly hope there’s DLC, especially because of the stages with paint packs that don’t have tracks, Music Plant and Studiopolis tracks in particular would be AWESOME. ^^ if we get DLC I feel like a classic team of Classic Sonic, Mighty, and Ray and/or a Babylon Rogues team are the most likely to me, although I wouldn’t mind Espio, Charmy and Cream as a team I feel like they will at least get in a sequel though if not this game.

Why wasn't Cream with Blaze and Silver instead of Vector anyway? Cream and Blaze have a history!

Maybe it'd be free add=on content like with Splatoon's stages/weapons.

ngl I wouldn’t mind Amy, Cream, and Blaze being a team. I know Big is the established Power member of the group but I like Blaze there to round out team Rose as a sort of Distaff counterpart to Team Sonic, plus Blaze and Cream have history. I don’t necessarily want Big or the Chao to get cut but Team Rose is weird to me without at least Cream with Amy.

That's not what they're suppose to be though.

Team Tango is Blazey Cat with them.

Didn't know that team up had a name sorry (looked it up and I don't know much about the archie comics so excuse my lack of knowledge on that lol). Still I know it's not what it normally is just saying I've always liked the idea.

Vector hanging with Blaze and Silver is such a random thing for me.

As for DLC news, E3's right around the corner. Big announcements and small tend to get gobbled up by it.

It's random for everyone, including them...in-universe.

I always thought Blaze could easily fit the power category more. Yes I know she is just as fast as Sonic but her flames definitely would hurt a hell lot more

She's not as fast as Sonic.

I’ve been wondering if Sonic Team considers Vector a more important/core character than he generally appears to be. He’s barely in the main series, but he’s practically obligatory in side-games and adaptations. This isn’t the first time a spin-off has included him by way of putting in a group he’s not normally associated with: Free Riders put him on Team Rose.

He even shows up in the Sonic Boom tv series (which, admittedly, is not made by Sonic Team specifically, but they had to sign off on stuff), and nobody but the main cast and Shadow showed up in that.

Every series needs The Big Guy and the guy actually called Big has a hatedom and is usually too busy fishing anyway.

(Yes I realize Knuckles usually fills the niche, but normally not in Stature)

Espio's probably more popular than him when it comes to the Chaotix but Vector probably likes flaunting his boss cred.

Blaze being Power felt wrong when I found out Runners did that, and hearing it still feels wrong.

She was introduced as a rival to Sonic, a close mirror to his capabilities, complete with a focus on speed and elegance, her flames used more like that of a rocket engine to propel herself forwards. She's less fitting for Power than even Sonic is, and Sonic's the poster boy for the Speed category!

Vector teaming up with Silver isn't actually that strange. Silver's already had a connection to the Chaotix via teaming up with Espio in Rivals 2, and Vector was Espio's contact during that game too.

That's still strange. Hell, Blaze being in his bad future in '06 was also super weird. Silver is basically Future Trunks. Any connections he has with anyone should be pretty weak.

I hate the later writers for making Silver likeable.

I was so ready to dunk on him forever and make him my own personal Hate Sink for debuting in the game that must not be played and for afflicting Blaze, one of my personal faves, with wonky origin story sickness while also displacing her. And for his over-the-top tryhard shonen design.

But dammit, he's adorable.
