Sega could still use her as like a tutorial thing. Shame they didn't.

Yeah, she's dead, but I'm pretty sure she, and Chaos for that matter, left for heaven at the end of Sonic Adventure. Well, I say heaven. I'm not sure if there is a canonical heaven in the Sonic franchise. Apparently some people didn't get the memo, because Chaos has appeared in games set after Adventure.

I've tried the demo, and I'd have to say this sudden release is a 10/10 game!

What Sonic character do you think would be Mordred in the Storybook series, had he appeared? I imagine Eggman would be Merlin, but Mordred I can't tell

Team Sonic Racing Team-Up trailer:

I wonder if this one has a plot. The last Sonic specific racing game had one (Free Riders), but the Sega All Stars series (which this one takes most of its cues from) very much did not.

There's been some tie-in material that hints at a larger story, plus the game has an original character that's obviously going to end up being the bad guy.

Probably won't be anything too complex, I'm guessing something similar to Crash Team Racing where a kart racing tournament will determine the fate of the world, and luckily every single major character is an expert driver.

I take it that's essentially the version of Sonic 3 and Knuckles Taxman and Stealth would've made if the original wasn't swamped with red tape over who owns what music from that game?

(This is literally the first time I heard of any 16:9 take on 3 and K.)

Essentially yes, with achievements and what appears to be a few elements from Sonic 3 Complete.

I'm late to the party, but just recently got Sonic Mania Plus for Switch. I found it extremely fun and definitely a throwback to the past of the old 2D Sonic games. The only thing I'm really not feeling is the Chaos Emerald special stages. Like who seriously thought those were a good idea? They're terrible and I can barely win on any of them. Outside of that gaff, it was definitely a great, classic Sonic game and I enjoyed my time through it - even if Mechanical Madness was a bit unfair with invincible enemies. Had fun almost all the way through.

You being bad at something =/= that something being bad.

So, I had some thoughts today about my assessment a while ago about how the series should've let Eggman take a break as a villain in favor of others after Adventure 2, and expanded on it a bit, with a bit of 'what if Shadow and 06 were coherently written' thrown in.

First and foremost, Heroes could obviously remain unchanged; Eggman himself was a bit player who's worst act was trying to skimp on paying the Chaotix, which while kind of rude isn't very bad in terms of villainy. What comes after... Hoo boy, why did I do this to myself?

Shadow the Hedgehog, assuming it's not a spinoff that's noncanon, would be rewritten to be more coherent. Cut the possible morality paths down to two, and have Eggman ally with Sonic and co when his efforts to turn over a new leaf and be not evil are stymied by the evil alien invaders. Maybe the end of the Evil path is a boss fight against Sonic and Eggman at the same time, that could be cool.

06, finally, would require a drastic rewrite, replacing Eggman with Neo Metal Sonic because, of course, that entire game is a trainwreck. But whatever, just say that Mephiles returned Metal Sonic to his Neo form, and that Eggman is somewhere else doing... Something not evil. And then at the end, with the timeline reset, just handwave the reset as undoing Eggman's turn away from evil. Because that entire game is insane, and this at least would have Sonic's story tie a little bit into the other two stories, because 06 is a mess.

You know, come to think of it, Neo Metal Sonic was the perfect replacement for Eggman.

This game has a great soundtrack from what's heard so far.

Hedgehog For Hire Ep. 2: Now that Sonic Mania has been destroyed, Sonic and Tails come up with a new plan to make their own game. Also, Eggman, Earthworm Jim, and surprise guest Morty from Morty Kombat are back.

Nah, I'll still say it's bad. About on the level of the halfpipes in Sonic 2, but at least those were doable. :P
