Honestly, I think "serious examples" are best suited for Cosmic Plaything. The one problem I have though is Butt-Monkey overlaps a lot with The Chew Toy.

Right now the examples of Butt-Monkey are almost all comedy (there are only 4 serious examples in the anime section and the eva entry says its a deconstruction because its serious) and Specifically Iron Butt Monkey is for comedy examples only with Iron Woobie as for serious examples.
The Woobie was being used for serious examples of it but now is wholly YMMV.
