Inspired by the "describe anime/manga in one sentance" thread, I decided to make this to get some activity on this subforum. This thread's actually completely different and is basically just our opinions on various V Ns. It can be positive or negative but I'll generally be going with positive. Go ahead and do ones I already did if you want.

Ef A Fairy Tale Of The Two: Beautiful

The plot's pretty good but what really makes this visual novel tick is its beautiful artwork and music. There's so much that went into it compared to any other visual novel that its mind-blowing. The music fits perfectly and especially once it gets into its latter chapters, the interwoven story just becomes a sight to behold. Almost brought a tear to my eye (not quite. Only Clannad).

G Senjou No Maou: Magnificient

The artwork is good but not stunning. What really interested me was the soundtrack. Almost all of the tracks are based off of classical pieces. Listening to something like Gonzou's theme and then tracing back the origin song on youtube and listening to it was a great experience. Now, the story of G-string is nothing short of amazing. For everything other than the main route, the story usually evolves into a standard love story. It's pulled off well but it's nothing amazing. When we get to the MAIN route, oh ho hooo boy. Your mind starts going crazy from what's going on and holy shit, things get great real fast. The epilogue especially is not what you'd expect. All in all, an amazing read.

Ever 17: Brilliant

Man oh man, Ever 17 has a plot that is nothing short of what I just said; Brilliant. The art isn't all that good and neither is the music. It fits the setting, but it could be a lot better imo. But the plot is just..... Yeah, you get what I mean. You start off with a closed island type situation (closed circle?) where you're stuck with no communication to the outside world. It isn't a murder mystery though, so you don't have to worry about any serial killers on the loose or do you?. First four routes deals with some interesting philosophy, physics and other stuff, but the final route is where stuff gets REALLY interesting. You have to see it to know it.

Come up with your own. You could just go to the visual novel's page and do a review there, but I doubt anyone actually goes to read those for recommendations.

Neon Genesis Evangelion Girlfriend of Steel: Surprising

When I think "Visual Novel", my brain usually goes back to playing Ace Attorney, Fate Stay Night, Tsukihime, that sort of a thing. Girlfriend of Steel, in terms of "gameplay", is much less involved than any of those. Really, it's more like a slightly-interactive DVD in text-sound-and-still-image format that occasionally gives you a save option. Emphasis on occasionally, and it comes up less and less the further in you get. So be prepared on that front. But the soundtrack, consisting of stuff borrowed from the anime, is of course pretty good. The plot is kinda... wobbly, I guess... early on, but starts picking up somewhere around Shinji and the newly-introduced Love Interest's date, or a bit after. Girlfriend of Steel doesn't feel like a full-length, erm, thing, like FNS, Tsukihime, or Ace Attorney do. But it feels exactly like how one might expect a mini-arc of the Evangelion anime might go, so I give it points for that. I admit that it's probably not for everyone, but I'd still recommend it to any Evangelion fans, and even people who've never heard of the show could still get a laugh (or a kick in the gut) from certain scenes in it.
