-I walk into the hotel and see a couple huddled in a corner, looking distressed. Lauren nods towards them and I walk over-

Hello? Mr. and Mrs. Kalin?

-they glances up and the man clears his throat-

Mr. Kalin: Yes? What is it?

I found your son.

-the two exchange wide-eyed glances-

Mrs. Kalin: Where is he? Where's Hunter?

He's in the hospital right now. He has a broken leg. His Staraptor's with him, but I have his Pokemon right here. I'm afraid they're Pokeballs are lost.

Mr. Kalin: That's perfectly all right. Thank you so much, uh...

My name's Crewe.

Mr. Kalin: Well, thank you, Crewe. -he stands up and helps his wife to her feet-

I'll see you around, I guess. C'mon Kirby, let's go get Meddler.

-turns and walks away, leaving Hunter's team with his parents-

-gives Mezzo a more detailed explanation of the Green Hill Zone, up until getting knocked out with Surf-

Felis: <This sounds just like that one game you play with the blue Sandslash. You know, the one with the terrible voice work.>

-Chord, who has crawled onto my back so that Every doesn't see him, glances briefly over my shoulder, then hides again.-

Chord: <Huh...Didn't expect Fade to do something nice for once.>

"So, are you alright, Every? You took a really nasty hit there."

Lake: <Sorry I didn't try to help. It was pretty hectic there.>

(To Mezzo) ...Yeah, I guess it sort of does.

(To Luke and Lake) It's fine, I'm pretty sure I'm ow!-kay.

(To Felis) I'm sure it's not nearly that bad.

Meanwhile, in a nearby alleyway

???: -seeing the trainers near the hospital-

<Ooh, a big party. Wonder if they've got anything worth taking.> -begins quietly creeping closer-

-Me and Lake give each other concerned looks, but decide to give Every the benefit of the doubt.-

"Okay, Every. If you say so."

Pleo: -Hops over to Lake.- <Um, Lake? This place smells funny. Where are we?>

Lake: <Oh, this is a hospital. It's where humans are taken if they're sick or hurt so that doctors can try to make them feel better.>

Pleo: <Oh, I see...> -Looks around.- <...Do they treat Pokémon here, too?>

Lake: <No, there's these special places called Pokémon Centers where Pokémon like us are treated.>

Pleo: <What are they like?>

Chord: <They're nicer than human hospitals, oddly enough.>

(To Luke and Lake) Seriously. I'm fine. Just a little bruised.

Meanwhile

???: -sprints out of the alleyway at high speed, ignoring a couple bystanders who are tripped up by him and slips through the door into the hospital, quickly hiding under a bench before anyone can notice him-

<Almost there...>

So why did you guys leave me behind, anyway?

Felis: <They don't like you.>

Shut up, Felis.

-Guardé briefly gets the feeling that there's something nearby. He tries to sense what it is exactly, but can't feel anything.-

Guardé: <Hmm. It's probably nothing.>

"Oh. We're sorry about that Mezzo. We didn't mean too."

Lake: <We just got caught up in this whole thing, and we forgot about you. We're really sorry.>

(To Mezzo) Well, I tried to wake you up, but you were completely asleep. I think I left a note.

Breeze: <Oh, Slam ate it. You shouldn't write on green paper.>

...-facepalm-

???: -waits until everyone has passed him, then zips out from under the bench, making a couple flying leaps and finally diving into Every's (slightly open) backpack-

<Let's see what we've got...>

Wha-? -stumbles from the sudden extra weight-

???: <Eep!> -curls up and tries to look like a bag of berries. Unfortunately, he's got four rather distinctive red feathers, and this disguise is not altogether successful-

Harriet: <So, what do we do now? I don't really want to spend the rest of the day in this gloomy old hospital. Besides, I think I might frighten the patients if I hang around here.>

"Well, I suppose we could go out and do something. I've heard there's quite a few interesting things to see on Ascorb- Wait a minute, what's that Every's bag?"

Woolly: <Huh?>

Chord: <Let's have a look...>

-All of us peer into Every's bag, finding a distinctive black Pokémon with red feathers sticking out of his head.-

Lake: <Oh!>

Stratus: <SNEASEL! EEP!>

-Stratus hides behind Lake.-

Sneasel? Where?

Sneasel: <Aw, my cover's blown!> -grabs the bag of Pecha berries and leaps out of Every's back, landing on the floor of the hospital- <Ah well. See ya, suckers!>

-unfortunately for the Sneasel, Every was not particularly neat about what pocket which stuff went in. As such, the Sneasel's leap also dislodged an Ultra Ball, which is now flying toward the Sneasel-

Sneasel: <Aw—> -sucked into the ball-

...

Ultra Ball: Do-do. Do-do. Do-do.

Click!

...That is the strangest catch I have ever made.

You caught a Sneasel? Lucky! I have always wanted one of those.

-Shivering, Stratus peaks his head out from behind Lake's back.-

Stratus: <...Is he gone?>

Lake: <Yeah, he's gone.>

Chord: <Aww, a Sneasel? They're not musical! Now you're theme's broken, Every.>

Harriet: <I doubt that's the most pressing concern on his mind right now, Chord.>
