Hotel Grand Lake

"Oh, thank you, trainers!" the hotel staff gasps, before composing himself and softly smiling. "Follow me."

He leads the duo through beautiful gardens and past tall buildings. Finally, he stops outside the garden behind the hotel proper, where several pools of water were, and fountains lined the area. "This was the last place the Pokemon was seen..." his voice drops to a whisper. "Be careful, and good luck." he bows and steps back. Desmond then looks at Atrin and nods. He taps Morgan against Mimir, who receives images of the plan.

A man running in the path of arrows. An black-cloaked assailant leaping around. That same assailant being held down by psychic attacks.

Desmond: I'll try to draw it out. You stay back and ready yourself.

he whispers for Atrin's benefit, and steps out into the garden. He carefully looks around and into the pools and fountains. In the pools, small fish Pokemon like Goldeen and Magikarp swam lethargically, their eyes unfocused.

Desmond: I wonder what happened to them...

he mutters, not noticing the water bullet streaking towards him. Morgan, however, uses Autotomize to swing herself in front of the bullet, cutting it and half and dispersing it.

Desmond: Whoo, thanks Morgan!

Morgan: <Don't mention it, now keep your guard up!>

she yells back. Desmond steps back, two-handing Morgan as their eyes dart around. Another bullet streaks out, and Desmond cuts it away. Almost immediately after, a bullet streaks from behind them, and Desmond ducks out of the way.

Morgan: <They said it was fast, but this is insane!>

Morgan complains. Desmond deflects a few more bullets, and keeps his eyes peeled. Then, he saw a blur, just before it fired another bullet. Morgan lunges to cut it, and it dashes away... straight to Atrin, unknowingly.

Desmond: NOW, ATRIN!

Hotel Grand Lake

Atrin: Mimir! Trick Room!

A giant psionic cube surrounds the water, changing the dimensions...and switching the speeds of all the Pokemon there!

Atrin: Now's your chance, Desmond!

Secluded Beach

Daydre: "I guess that's true. Unless the person who was selling them didn't know what they had, but what're the chances of that?"

"So good to be back!" Roxy cried out as she stepped in, tossing her jacket aside, before flopping down on the couch.

Silas followed behind her, before sitting down on another part of the rather large curved couch section. Shortly before their combined team came up, Muggy darting right into Roxy's arms to give her a hug.

"Aw... you guys missed me?"

~Obviously,~ Hacks said with a smirk.

"Well, don't worry. I'm back, and I'm not dying easily, heck next step is some good old fashioned payback!" Roxy replied.

Silas shook his head with a smile. "It'd also be useful to keep our friends updated on what he's up to and how it may tie to the School."

Roxy nodded. "Yeah, yeah, true... for now..."

She grabbed her scarf and wrapped it around her neck, assuming pokemon form once more. <I need to relax!>

Everyone went silent, Silas staring at her directly, Roxy looked over. <What? Why are you staring at me like I've got two heads or something?>

Bishop was the first to speak. "Commander... we've noticed some... differences from your recovery."

He floated over with a mirror, Roxy looked into it and saw a very purple sylveon staring back at her. <What in the hells?!>

Brooklet Hill

Pisaster: -Faints a Wishiwashi with Thunderbolt-

Chiyo: -Watches as more Wishiwashi start gathering at the bottommost lake- Okay, that should be the Totem Tagg told me about.

Chloe: -Having tagged along- Let's go get it then.

-The water bubbles as Chiyo and Chloe start approaching on Lapras-back in the midst of a surprise rainstorm-

Chloe: -Putting up her hoodie- Crap, why'd it have to rain now?

Chiyo: -Slight smirk as a circular barrier surrounds them- Here I thought you were good at predicting the weather.

Chloe: This isn't a natural rainstorm Chiyo, I'd know.

-As the Wishiwashi start coalescing, something else starts appearing from behind-

Chiyo: -Eyebrow raise- Chloe, are you seeing this?

Chloe: -Eyes widening- Kinda hard not to!

-The Wishiwashi start scattering as a particularly large Araquanid appears and stares right at the created Psychics-

Chloe: I thought you were supposed to be fighting a bunch of fish, not an oversized water spider!

Chiyo: It seems like Tagg was going off of outdated information. April Fools notwithstanding.

-Hand going to her waist-

But it doesn't matter, we've faced worse.

Totem Araquanid: -Lets out what can be best described as some sort of squeal-roar as it starts glowing-

Chiyo: Go Pisaster!

Pisaster: -Appears-

Desmond: Alrighty! Night Slash!

Desmond grins as he and Morgan leap forward as Atrin slows down the fish-like pokemon with big eyes and sharp teeth. It turns, almost in slow motion, and prepares a ball of water in its mouth. However, the Trick Room makes the sword duo faster, and a black slash cuts through the ball and the fish, sending it into a nearby fountain, fainted.

Morgan: <Hm, a bit of a Glass Cannon, eh?>

Morgan muses as Desmond leaps down to grab the fish. Morgan brings out the Rotom phone to scan it.

Rotom: Remoraid, the Jet Pokemon! It forcefully squirts water, and the water jet never misses prey even if the Remoraid is deep in the sea.

Desmond: Huh, sweet catch. Nice one, Atrin! Good one, Morgan.

Desmond and Morgan fist bump, grinning.

"Thank you, you two!" the staff member gasps. "Now we can stop the-" he gets interrupted by a large chef yelling "VERY NICE!" at the top of his lungs as he ran over to Desmond, examining the Remoraid. "What a beautiful specimen! May I have it? It shall taste lovely in my next dish!"

Desmond: ...What?

Atrin says this at the same time as Desmond.

Atrin: ...What? I don't think it's good eating, sir.

Atrin looks at the Remaroid.

Atrin: And more importantly, problem here solved, yeah?

Hotel Grand Lake

"But I must simply have it! It will taste amazing!" The chef eyes the Remoraid hungrily. "I will give you this in exchange!" he pulls out a card. "VIP card! Allows you free access to Hotel Grand Lake! I work here so I don't need it, but you can have it!"

Desmond: Whoa... That...

Morgan: Must cost a lot...

they blink. Desmond shakes his head rapidly however.

Desmond: Sorry, I can't in good conscience sell this Pokemon off to be eaten.

The chef's eyes takes a breath, opening his eyes, bloodshot and bugging out. He grinds his teeth together as he growls, "Against me eh?!" and pulls out three Pokeballs, sending out an Jolteon, a Gurdurr, and a Monferno.

"I will make sure that Remoraid is mine!" he howls.

Atrin: Alright, he went nuts, it seems! Ecto! Let's show what you can do!

Ecto is called out.

Ecto: <Oh yes! I do so ever want to play with the mean man!>

Desmond: Alright, Morgan! Keep Ecto and the Remoraid safe!

Desmond yells, letting go of the Honedge. He lightly tosses the Remoraid behind him in the fountain, where it begins blinking, getting his bearings.

Morgan: <You don't have to tell me twice!>

she roars as she clashes with the Gurdurr, sword against steel beam. Desmond picks up a stick and tries to fend off the Monferno.

Desmond: We gotta keep it safe!

he says before the chef yells, "Use Mach Punch!" and the Monferno lunges towards Desmond, sending him back into the fountain. Morgan looks back at Desmond and roars angrily, using Swords Dance and knocking both Gurdurr and Monferno back a little.

Morgan: <Mimir! We better shut these guys down now!>

she extends her rather limited telepathy towards the Reuniclus so he may share it to Atrin.

Hotel Grand Lake

Mimir links their minds. Atrin speaks to them through this link.

Atrin: Alright, let's surprise them. Ecto, vanish and use Phantom Force!

Ecto just wags his tail before vanishing! A few moments later, and the confused Jolteon is struck by a ghostly attack as Ecto reappears!

Atrin: Who's a good Houndstone?!

Ecto: <Oh boy! I hope it's me!>

Xaster walks brusquely down the street, carrying the giant supply of sandwiches with him. He was all too happy to be hired as an assistant on the shoot of the movie, even if his job mostly boils down to picking up lunch and coffee orders. As long as his name appears in the credits, eh?

He rounds a corner and, due to the pile of sandwiches blocking his view, bumps into a person in front of him. A sandwich drops from the pile, but with the precision of a dancer and performer he manages to catch it before it hits the ground.

"That's a relief," he mutters. "Oh, um, sorry..."

The man says nothing. Xaster looks him up and down, taking in his odd dress. "Sorry, inconspicuous first person shooter protagonist. I have to be going." Maybe he's an extra in the movie or something, he thinks as he walks away.

As he leaves, the strange man watches him impassively.

Brooklet Hill, yesterday

Chiyo: Pisaster, use Power Gem!

Pisaster: -Attacks with a beam of light fired from their core-

Totem Araquanid: -Stumbles before Crunching Pisaster-

Pisaster: -Blasts Araquanid with a crit-strength Power Gem while being Crunched-

Totem Araquanid: -Summons a Dewpider, who immediately hits Pisaster with a Sticky Web-

Pisaster: -Struggles to move-

Chloe: -Reaching for Boll's Ball- Alright, time for me to step in.

Chiyo: -Grabbing Chloe's hand- No, the trial is forfeit if I get help!

Piaster: -Fires another Power Gem at the Dewpider, fainting it, but this leaves them open to getting fainted by Araquanid's follow-up Leech Life-

Hotel Grand Lake

The Jolteon yips in surprise and pain as it gets sent into the bushes. Morgan, on the other hand, leaps backward as she uses Autotomize, giving her the speed to keep up with both the slow but powerful Gurdurr and the less powerful but much faster Monferno. However, she starts wincing in pain the more she blocks attacks from the fiery Monferno.

"YEEEEOOOOOOWOWOW!" The chef howls in anger. "My Jolteon! Monferno! Cook that damn cane with Flame Wheel!" The Monferno switches targets to Ecto, jumping into the air and spinning rapidly, an arc of fire with the Monferno in it heading straight for the Houndstone.

Meanwhile, the chef swings down a knife, mimicking his Gurdurr's next move, a "HAMMER ARM!", as the Gurdurr raises its steel beam before slamming it down onto Morgan, sending her into the ground and causing it to crack and fragment...

...Only for her to be wholly uninjured due to being part Ghost-type. Morgan laughs mockingly at the chef's angry screaming and suddenly dashes forward with an Aerial Ace, causing the Gurdurr to drop to one knee. "Rock Slide, damnit!" curses the chef as the Gurdurr slams his beam onto the ground to push himself into a standing position, summoning spectral rocks from above, which hurtle towards Morgan.

Ecto is hit with the flame wheel, yelping a little!

Ecto: <I don't think you're playing...>

Atrin: Ecto, hit him with Shadow Ball!

Ecto fires off a ball of ghostly energy at the Jolteon!

Hotel Grand Lake

The Jolteon leaps backwards as the chef yells, "Thunder!", and though it gets hit by the Shadow Ball, knocking it out instantly, a nimbus cloud appears above Ecto, which strikes the area of the poor doggo with lightning bolts. The Monferno gets ready to attack the Houndstone as well.

"NOOOOO!" The chef wails as he recalls Jolteon. Meanwhile, Gurdurr's rocks hurtle towards Morgan, who begins cutting them down. However, they begin stacking up, and soon Morgan gets trapped under one large rock, cursing rapidly. "If Fighting does not work on you..." the chef cackles, and the Gurdurr stomps towards the fountain where Desmond and the Remoraid were. "It will work on them. SUPERPOWER!" The Gurdurr reaches into the ground and, after a little strain, flips the entire fountain into the air.

Morgan: DESMOND!

she yells, slashing through the rock finally, but it's too late. Desmond flies through the air, still unconscious.

Atrin: Mimir! Hurry! Let him down gently with Psychic!

Mimir uses psychic to try to gently let Desmond down.

Ecto: <You hurt my friend! This is bad! I shall punish you in his memory!>

Ghostly energy wells up around Ecto, showing the silhouette of a single gravestone.

Atrin: What are you-?

Ecto: <You are a bad Pokemon!>

Ecto attacks Monferno with Last Respects, doing more damage than normal due to Desmond being down!

Hotel Grand Lake

Ecto's revenge move slams into the Monferno with enough force to send it flying, landing on the roof of the hotel, dazed and fainted. "AAAAAAAAAAAH!" the chef screams as only his Gurdurr is left. Mimir's Psychic manages to catch Desmond, but the chef screams, "ROCK SLIDE, AGAIN! HIT HIM, EVERYONE, I DON'T CARE!" The Gurdurr slams his steel beam into the ground again and causes a deluge of rocks to appear, about to crash into everything in sight. Suddenly, Morgan and Mimir hear a Pokemon speak.

???: <A mighty fine pickle y'all are in. Focus on the rocks, I'll keep chunky here distracted.>

As the Gurdurr sends rocks flying in every direction, Morgan nods and begins slashing as many as she can, firing Sacred Sword after Sacred Sword to prevent as much damage as possible, especially against Desmond. She then sees from the fountain, a tiny blue blur dash towards the other fountains, firing bullet after bullet of water, each striking the Gurdurr's head, eyes, ears and other sensitive parts. Growling in anger, the Gurdurr tries to slam the Remoraid, but each time it moves to swing, the Remoraid fires another blast, each staggering the Gurdurr.

Mimir nods, and keeps the rocks up with Psychic energy!

Remoraid: <Ya know, that's not a bad idea! Take the fury and hatred of those you tasted! Psybeam!>

The Remoraid, satisfied the Gurdurr was angry enough at him, blasted him straight in the eye with a spiral pink wave, sending the Gurdurr backwards, eyes unfocused as confusion took hold. "No, NO, NO!" the chef panicked. "SNAP OUT OF IT, NOW!" he yelled as the Gurdurr didn't respond.

Remoraid: <Thank y'all kindly for helpin'. Though I'd say the kid and I are even.>

the Remoraid lands in front of the Gurdurr, Morgan beside him.

Morgan: No idea what you're talking about, it can wait! Atrin, Mimir, Ecto, let's finish this dude!

Morgan begins charging a Sacred Sword while the Remoraid uses Lock-on, a mental target appearing on the confused Gurdurr, who swings his beam feebly at the air, and a white ball appears in front of his mouth.

Ecto runs up to the Gurdurr and bites him hard with dark energy!

Chiyo: -Sends out Ceres-

Ceres: -Appears-

Chiyo: Use Thunderbolt!

Ceres: -Fires off a bolt at Araquanid-

Araquanid: -Noms a Wacan Berry, sizzing from the resulting shock, before summoning a Masquerain-

Chloe: Really?

Masquerain: -Whips up a Tailwind-

Ceres: -Is buffeted by wind while also continuing to be stuck in Spider Web- <Ugh, I hate this...>

Chiyo: Hang in there and use Thunderbolt again!

Ceres: -Fires off another bolt, fainting Masquerain-

Totem Araquanid: -Cloaks its front limbs in water before slamming into Ceres-

Ceres: -Takes a lot of damage between the rain and Water Bubble- <Ack!>

Chiyo: We need to end this battle quickly, before it tries summoning any more mons.

-To Ceres-

Use Fake Tears!

Ceres: -Starts spontaneously tearing up-

Totem Araquanid: -Tries going for a Poison Jab-

Chiyo: Ceres, dodge and Use that new move we practiced!

Ceres: -Ducks and weaves as she starts glowing and bringing up stones from the lakebed-

Totem Araquanid: -Lunges with Liquidation-

Chiyo: Meteor Beam!

Ceres: -Jumps on Araquanid's back and waves her fingers before blasting them with earth energy released from the stones-

Totem Araquanid: -Is blasted full-on and knocked down into the lakebed before floating back to the surface belly-up, fainted-

Morgan: <This dude nearly killed Desmond. Believe me, overkill feels nice right now.>

Morgan growls as Ecto bites down onto the Gurdurr, keeping him trapped with the dark Crunch.

Remoraid: <Target locked. Be seein' ya... hopefully never.>

tsks the Remoraid as he fires off an Ice Beam, a straight shot compared to most, freezing the Gurdurr solid and forcing Ecto to let go for his safety. Morgan's eye narrows as she swings her Sacred Sword, the black-and-red beam of light slamming straight into the Gurdurr and sending him straight into the chef, who screams as they get blown into the wall, sending chunks of debris everywhere.

Panting, Morgan lowers herself and sinks to the ground, exhausted.

Morgan: <Good job as always... everyone...>

It was then that Desmond managed to blink and awaken, still in Mimir's psychic grasp.

Desmond: Oh, Arceus... Wait why am I floating?! AM I DEAD?!

he yelps, beginning to struggle before recognizing Mimir's psychic power. He scans the destroyed courtyard, noting the fainted Gurdurr and chef, plus the Monferno unconscious on the rooftop.

Desmond: Oh hey, seems like you guys did it! Great job... Wait you did it without me...

Desmond sighs at having missed out on the battle. The staff member, who was cowering in fear behind a pillar the entire time, peeks out. "I-is it over?" he asks.

Atrin: Yeah, it's over. Where did you guys find Chef Murder anyway?

Atrin pats Ecto.

Ecto: <That was fun playtime!>

Brooklet Hill

Ceres: -Daintily lands on the water as Totem Araquanid shrinks into invisibility-

Chiyo: -Twirling the Clefairy around in her arms the moment they reach shore- You did great out there my little Ceres.>

Ceres: -Being twirled- <Yay!>

Chloe: Yeah, nice work out there you two. Now let's get out of here before they feel like doing Round 2.

Dream World

Muddy: <...I still can't believe we both had kids we knew nothing about.>

<It's really something, let me tell you, though the stakes are a bit higher than the ones with you and Cam.>

Muddy: <We're getting ready to head to Paldea, but Corvus has been... apprehensive, I don't really get it, something about some story his mom told him about Paldea when he was a chick, but he won't explain properly.>

<I mean, that is where you can find a certain line of metal-hunting fairies with a penchant for mischief...>

Iridium: -Playing some sort of ball game with Ammit and Del Lurra-

Lydia: -On a phone call- Is that so? Got it, I'll keep you posted.

So many Paldean safehouses taken out... Well, that makes this a lot easier if I don't need to worry about any... interruptions.

Iridium: -Passing the ball- Okay.
