Taipan follows everyone else's lead as close as she can. She prepares a few smoke grenades the moment she found out about the security cameras. She kept them ready in case she'll need to use them. Unresponsive doesn't always mean nonfunctional, after all.

Shutter and Tommy were riding home on Jeff's minivan. Shutter is sitting in shotgun while Tommy sits behind, riding with Jeff's furfrou Norville.

Shutter: Thank you for the ride, Sgt. Sanchez.

Jeff: Call me Jeff. Any friend of Tommy-boy here is cool by my book. Where did you say you lived again?

Shutter: Down the street from Studio Castelia.

Jeff: The arts district? Kinda pricey there, isn't it?

Shutter: Indeed, and that's with rent control. Rotten hipsters driving up the property values. I really appreciate you guys keeping my grandpa company a few months back. This place is really not elder-friendly.

Halis reactively uses Defense Curl on the spot, getting hit a few times and almost getting knocked out of the curl.

Halis: <I d-didn't mean to do that, but...>

They fire off an Ice Ball barrage in retaliation, smaller and weaker than usual but far more annoying, like getting pelted with marbles.

Shutter waves goodbye to Tommy and Jeff from his 6th Floor window in the coverted loft he currently lives in.

Jeff: Hop on.

Tommy: So, that thing you were going to tell me.

Jeff: The chief gave me this e-mail the other day. It was from PEFE and it involves that little stunt you did 5 years ago. Know anyone from there?

Tommy: Not personally, but we have interviewed a few people associated with them. Why would they bring this up?

Jeff: Well. Apparently one of their employees intercepted this e-mail about some scumbag trying to hire a bigshot poacher to recapture a group of spinarak. We're assuming they're referring to Tobi and his friends from that shady chemical factory that was quote-unquote "only partly owned" by Best Berry. You know, the one you busted.

Tommy: He he. Yeah.

Jeff: The chief didn't know who this Delta dude was so he had Jenny and I ask around.

Tommy: You did undercover cop stuff? Cool.

Jeff: Hell, yeah, it was cool! Anyway, he's what we found out. When we say "bigshot poacher," we mean bigshot poacher. I mean, he doesn't play around. The creep wasn't kidding when he said he could lend DNA samples to look for Tobi and company. I mean, how are we gonna top that? Don't get me wrong, this wouldn't be the first time I handled a case where I had to protect witnesses from hitmen hired by corporations.

Tommy: I'm pretty sure we were most of your cases of having to protect witnesses from corporate hitmen. It was like, <impeccable imitation of Jeff's voice> "Do I have to babysit this handsome hero kid and his family, chief? I should be out busting poachers and bringing down drug lords? You know, action hero stuff." </voice> And then a few days later you and my cousin were smooching like wild pokémon in our front porch.

Tommy: You're making me sick.

Jeff: That was my love story, man. Don't hate. As I was saying, yeah. High-tech poacher. We don't exactly know how to deal with that yet since we'd be spread out too thin and don't even know how to handle his sort of tech. Chief's already warned the other rescued spinarak owners, and he did tell me that he'd come up with something. And Arceus knows there's only so much I can do at home.
