If you knew that someone was going to go through absolute hell, that they'd survive but it'd just break them almost to the core... If you had the opportunity and you knew how, would you change someone else's fate even if nothing you knew would be substantially impacted whether you did something or not?

Nova keeps up the brisk pace and before long, the party arrives at what is presumably the Gate of the Ancients. A walled stone courtyard leads up to a pair of massive doors made of stone and metal

A Bisharp leading a group of Pawniard, all wearing what appears to be some sort of uniform, seem to be looking for something.

Nova: <It seems our worst fears have been realized - the forces of Runefaust are already here!>

The Bisharp looks up. <Blast, the forces of Guardiana are here!>

<To arms, for the honor of Runefaust!>

The earth shudders in a large quake, opening a massive gash through the courtyard.

Artoria: <That seems ominous.>

Nova: <Nevermind that, the Runefaust soldiers are attacking!>

Indeed, the various Pawniard-line have started advancing towards the group.

While Shun has no pretenses in beating a 9 year old at Chess, Tigre shows no signs in backing down from a challenge.

-she glances off a Pawniard, dealing very little damage and sprawling to the ground-

Brie used Quick Attack!

Pawniard: <...Was that supposed to accomplish anything?>

Brie: <I'd like to say yes.>

Pawniard: <Shame.>

-raising a blade, he prepares to slash at Brie, but she scoops up a handful of dirt and flings it in his face first-

Brie used Sand-Attack!

Pawniard: <Hey! What kind of cheap tactic is that?>

Brie: <I'd like to live, sorry!>

-she backpedals as best she can on her Gligar limbs, the Pawniard taking a wild swipe at her as she goes-

Foam: <Have no fear, for I am here!>

Brie: <Come on.>

-leaping into the air, Foam takes a deep breath, before firing a Hydro Pump down into the Runefaust Pawniard-

Dunsparce didn't stop being a thing or anything.

Guardiana

Talbain clicked his teeth a few times until sparks developed. He then opened his mouth to reveal that he had his teeth on fire. <C’mon!> He demanded from his backpack.

A Samurott, Delphox, Blaziken, Stoutland, and Shiny Ninetales materialized in that order in response to the call.

Helmsman drew a seamitar glowing blue as Roy had fire circle around his chest. Julius used Bulk Up as Sunny used Calm Mind and Amaterasu howled.

Roy and Amaterasu both rammed down the same Pawniard with Flame Charge while Julius and Sunny focused down another with Play Rough and Flamethrower, respectively.

Talbain and Helmsman nodded to each other and coordinated a strike on a Pawniard, Talbain biting them after Helmsman slashed at them.

They were all retaliated at, but it wasn’t anything debilitating.

Lucius: Well... it's a lot of things, honestly. I... Arceus, I forgot how hard this is. I guess I'm just wondering if there's anything I can... y'know, do. To make up for things, I mean. I've met plenty of people who wanted to, but I never believed they could... I just never thought I'd be one of them.

Lumiose Pokemon Center - Today

-Lucius is throwing a birthday party!-

-By which I mean he's sitting alone in his room drinking cheap beer and watching old cartoons.-

Lucius: Man... 21 today. Does that even mean anything when you're technically not even mortal anymore?

"They were hurt because they cared about you, and in a fit of rage you hurt them and went Kylo Ren. Thankfully you've avoided going fully Kylo and are more along the lines of Anakin now. That's a good thing."

A pearl mirror floated before Lucius as in it a shadow puppet theater played, depicting Lucius in a cape, wielding a blade made of obscura, walking away from a group, their hearts cracked.

"So you fucked up. However currently you're more like this."

The puppets became images of a man in a blue baseball cap, wielding a blade of aura, facing off against Lucius still with the Obscura blade, over a lava pit fighting to the death, pain in their eyes.

"And less like this."

The image changed once more, to that of Lucius alone, the shadow puppet spoke, "Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."

Denali set the notepad down, "You can make it up to them, but not in a self destructive way. Let's start small, what are some constructive ways to help them?"

Volpe's House

Leone has started to laugh, but abruptly stops when he notices his sister's quiet but almost palpable anger.

Tigre takes a deep breath, and pushes the pocket chessboard out of the way.

Tigre: We have played enough of your game, signore Shun.

Tigre places her hand on the table, forearm angled forward and hand in a grasping position.

Tigre: We play my game now, si?

Herdier whines as his back leg starts kicking because of Lucille's chin scratches.

Janet: Heh! Whaddya know! He likes that!

Janet finishes off her coffee.

Janet: Yannow, he doesn't usually warm up to folks outside of me, but it seems he really likes you!

Lumiose City - Pokemon Center

A blur of blue and red lines bursts into the centre and throws themselves at Lucius.

Levi: Lucius! Lucy! Stumps!

Levi squeezes Lucius and spins around, before stopping (but still squeezing him with enough force to remove the air from his lungs)

-He attempts to straighten up and compose himself.-

Lucius: Um... fuck, I dunno. I know that I probably wouldn't be accepting apology Berry baskets from some ex-Cipher goon, so why would anyone else?

-Lucius barely has time to let out a startled exclamation before he's glomped by Levi.-

-He returns the hug for a few seconds before blinking in surprise at his phone notifications - especially the first one.-
