I've clocked in almost 30 hours but I know I missed some episodes and sidequests so it's probably closer to 40 hours.

And my copy is finally shipping from Amazon.ca. Well, I had Pandoras Tower to tide me over.

There been any word on Pandora's Tower? I know it's the least hyped of them all but I feel like we should get it just for completionists sake.

[up] Well XSEED has no plans on localizing it. So the prospect looks grim.

I have family in Europe who visited, so they brought it for me. But yeah, while I really enjoy it, it doesn't have nearly the pedigree behind it, and apparently the sales in Europe weren't that great.

Even so an English dub already exists. It's basically free money so I could see them doing a limited print run of about 50,000 copies. At fifty dollars a copy they'd make 2.5 million dollars which should be more than enough to cover any expenses they'd incur in shipping it over here.

So, erm, a bit of thread necromancy.

Is anyone around here playing this game? I recently got back to my save file, and tried out some of the online multiplayer. I was amused by the Deathmatch mode, mostly becuse magic seems to be insanely powerful. To the point that the room I was in eventually moved to everyone being mages, which turned the match into a multi-sided Sniper Duel.

I'm mostly progressing through Story Mode. Thus far, I've gotten so far as the aftermath of the first Gurg invasion.

I kinda wish there was co-op for the story mode. It' be cool to have a partner play as Yurick or someone.

Agreed. Though I wonder how they'd do all those skills that require Command Mode to activate.

True. It'd be easier with more buttons.

Though... nobody but Zael has a use for the C button, right? Maybe they could have done it so that holding C would let you do a real-time menu to select which skill you will perform by holding A.

I'd be down for some multiplayer if my Wii still worked. Though I'm actually kind of suprised that people are still playing this online.

Well, for all its flaws, it's still pretty fun.

True. I think co-op bosses are more fun than Deathmatch, if only because Deathmatch seems to devolve into magic sniper duels.

Which are actually kinda cool. It's just that warriors seem to get screwed over.

Well, when there's no such thing as MP, and a single fully-charged spell kills instantly, you've got some quadratic wizards up ins.

There is silence, but that requires either getting the Silence Pan or diffusing a Forest circle.

I guess that would explain why nobody was picking Mirania.

So, I finally completed the game. That Playable Epilogue can go on forever.

All in all, I think it was a good game. Not nearly as mindblowingly amazing as Xenoblade, but it was pretty good, with some solid mechanics, and decent story. I feel a bit ashamed to admit that I only really started strategizing heavily around the final battle. Magic circles are fun.

So, a question. In the final battle- final boss- Climax Boss, who was it ultimately possessing Dagran towards the end? I'm not sure if it was The Outsider, or the soul of Zanguarak. I initially thought the former, but all The Outsider wanted was to return home, so that makes little sense.

Oh, and I like the multiple callbacks towards the end. "I'm sick of it. Sick of all the pain."

It's been a while since I played it but I think the answer is no one. It was all Dagran. Unless you mean the giant monster form, in that case they were just using the Outsider's power to transform into that.

But in the final form, the boss was referring to Dagran as a third party. Saying that "as long as the one inside me lives, my body will rejuvinate." Or "As long as your friend lives, nothing will change." And "The one within me has memories of you."

At some point between stages two and three, Dagran ceased to keep control.

On that note, how funny is it that The character you begin the game as becomes the final enemy?

Huh. If I ever get a chance to play the game again I'll look into that.

And on that third point: It's pretty neat, but I can't shake the feeling that I've seen it somewhere before.
