UPDATE: The new characters coming to Street Fighter V are:
- Dan Hibiki
- Rose (returning from IV)
- Oro (returning from III)
- AKIRA KAZAMA MAKING HER FIRST PLAYABLE APPEARANCE IN A STREET FIGHTER GAME. NOT MAKING THIS UP. LET'S F*CKING GO.
- There's one more character to be announced later, but WHO CARES BECAUSE AKIRA'S COMING AAAAAA

It's pretty big, but I'm too busy over here getting hype over Oro.

I admittedly don’t know much about Rival Schools, but I gotta say Akira has a pretty great design and I can tell why she’s popular. Definitely excited for her, Oro, and Dan.

It's honestly pretty weird that they introduced Menat to do everything Rose would and then followed it up by adding Rose, now that I think about it.

Akira is certainly unexpected (barring the apparent three guess that were made by other tropers). And they said they debated who among the cast should make it in, before her connection to Sakura put her at the top. My guess is they wanted someone with some kind of connection to SF beyond being in the same universe, and Akira had that, plus something to set her apart (which Hinata lacks since she's kinda diet Sakura) or a not too based on a gimmick (like Natsu, who's all about Volleyball).
They better be ready though. If people weren't asking to see Rival schools return before, they will be now.

AKIRA!!!!!!!!!! Now that is HYPE! What an amazing pick. Love Rival Schools/Project Justice, and it's SO cool seeing them get rep again. Glad they didn't go vanilla and pick Batsu either, but went with Akira. She's boss.
NGL I feel Dan is a waste of slot. Dan hibiki I'm not opposed to. Dan as paid DLC? Yeah I'm opposed to that. Unless he's free or buffed to hilariously good levels I'm pretty meh on him. I feel like Viper could've taken his place TBH. Or even Sean if they were THAT set on getting another shoto nerd in the game. I would've picked Sodom too, or Eagle. But Dan? Eh.
Rose is one of my favorite SF characters and I'm looking forward to seeing her in action again. I like Menat but I can't use her at all as she feels too different to work as a direct Rose expy.
Oro is a great pick. Awesome.
