synchros were a mistake.

It wouden't surprise me if OCG winds up banning the card before TCG gets it,or that it gets banned and errata'd before then.

Card art for a Jaden card and a Yusei card.

Is it just me, or does Satellite Warrior look like a Transformer?

Unique variant card. So basically it's either a Spell variant of Mirror Force or a Harpie's Feather Duster, but you cannot have any face-up cards. I feel like it could have a slightly more restrictive effect(control no cards), but for the most part, it has a decent restriction. Worth noting that it has kind of a hilarious naming style here. Raigeki Storm more or less refers to two cards it doesn't actually emulate. Raigeki in practice could be considered something like a Mirror Force, though. Same with Heavy Storm being used like Harpie's Feather Duster. It also has a hard once per turn.

I love the card, but I do think it isn't as balanced as it could be. It's pretty eh late in the game, but is fairly good going second. It'll a comeback card, but decks can easily use it for establishing an OTK board right after its used. It could use a few changes, imo. Or any of these, till the end of the turn.

  • You can summon up to 3 total monster(s)/times.
  • No monster activations on your part.
  • You cannot set any spell/traps(possibly for the whole turn?)
  • You cannot inflict battle or effect damage.

The last one is worth noting cause a huge issue these days is that while you can easily get rid of a strong monster, you cannot often do that if they have a strong backrow to compliment it. Problem is some decks can have a strong backrow and a boss, and there's no hard counter to it in the TCG. This card has enough restrictions to make sure you can use that kind of counter to begin with. It doesn't mean it'll work(good luck getting this off with 3 Solemn Judmgents around). Also, this card is probably why they keep moving backrow up in the OCG. They have another counter to the immense amount some decks play, where HFD can barely do anything to combat it, forcing them to use tons of small hitters that mess with the deck's own consistency. So something a bit more balanced was created. It's worth noting the TCG has very few backrow-heavy decks(which is why HFD isn't heavily needed at this time. Once in a while it'd be really great, but we usually have enough to work). OCG is very different and can have combo and/or backrow heavy decks. It's a pretty different game in that regard. It's also worth noting our backrow started to move up once when cards were created to help combat the idea of backrow-heavy decks. Solemn Judgment and on-summon traps came back only when Hey, Trunade! was released. Compulsory didn't move up till Red Reboot released, a more proper counter to it. In other words, they still kept the fact we didn't have a true mass counter to these cards in mind. This is why Book of Moon is likely still at 1. There is no Red Reboot for spells. ...Which is good, cause that'd be massively broken. Spells are far faster, after all. That said, with this released, we might get 3 Book again(though they may wait till HFD comes back too?).

[up][up] Heh. Worth noting that OCG also doesn't really care about HFD and plays around it pretty well. The complaints are TCG-side since people just don't want to play protection. The fact we have 3 Solemn Judgment should be enough to counter this(which is not going to go off often). If we get HFD back, it'll be a far different game though.

[up] Noice. The constant staple cards actually will get punished for once. I'm sure a few decks will use it to make an OTK easier, but it's a one-turn stun card, so that makes sense.

[up]x2 Realistically you'd want to activate it during your opponent's turn (presumably during a mirror), which could just turn off your own Ash.

Also Called by the Grave already exists.

New Pringle for Sky Striker.

It ain't dying any time soon, clearly. That, and killing it when the tins are still fairly new is a bad business move. Nerfing them is far more logical. Which is what they did.

October 14th 2019 TCG List

  • Forbidden
    • Guardragon Agarpain (New)
    • Knightmare Mermaid (New)

  • Limited
    • Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor (New)

  • Semi-Limited
    • Dark Armed Dragon (Was Limited)

  • No longer on the list
    • Chaos Emperor Dragon – Envoy of the End (Was Semi-Limited)
    • Destiny HERO Malicious (Was Semi-Limited)
    • Ehther the Heavenly Monarch (Was Semi-Limited)
    • Elemental HERO Stratos (Was Semi-Limited)
    • Inzektor Dragonfly (Was Semi-Limited)
    • Shurit, Strategist of the Nekroz (Was Semi-Limited)
    • El Shaddoll Construct (Was Limited)
    • Royal Tribute (Was Semi-Limited)
    • Super Rejuvenation (Was Forbidden)

Only things I'd change is keep Malicious where it is(at 2) and have Super Rejuvenation at 1 where people can't abuse it for FTK's. Well, not a fan of Ehther, when Pantheism should have been at 3 first, but the rest really don't matter anyway. Royal Tribute, dumb as it is, is largely irrelevant. Hell, Necrovalley is actually more worthwhile on its own for its useful floodgate nature. Mermaid ban was expected. Agarpain wasn't too odd, since it's fairly clear they seem to be more trying to copy the OCG than do their own thing at this point. Though they still keep some things their own, even then. Oh, right, REDMD should've went to 0 if they're keeping Elpy there. That'd further balance the deck. Maybe it's cause they also have both baby Chaos Dragons limited that there's no need. We have Seyfert coming, so it was obvious they can't outright nuke Guardragonss, so this is likely why they hit only some of the ED bits overall(I don't mean the fact Agarpain is the Link, but because it summons something that isn't from the main deck).

What's interesting is Shaddolls has more tools in the TCG. It's not at full power in either format(as Norden was actually a huge boon to the deck that helped it stay relevant too). Whether or not Shads will actually top again(I know they've shown up a little since Construct's been at 1, but that's not the same as being meta relevant. It just means they, gasp, see play like tons of decks that are still irrelevant do). I would've liked to see something change among True Draco stuff, though. Interesting that the meta wasn't much touched and most of it was giving decks back their tools instead. DAD going to 2 is however pretty cool and I definitely will work that into a deck I have. Especially since the last piece it needs is Raigeki Storm to be remotely playable. I still got Instant Fusion for Thousand-Eyes Restrict fun(plus, that alone has won me some duels. I'm talking about casual low-end stuff, but it has done its job. Mind you, traditional and via Metamorphosis, so that's a relevant factor of why, since it stays up without using extra cards). I had to retool it from a deck I used for an old Yugioh roleplay here, one I call my "Battle Pack Deck". I'm trying to remember all of its currently forbidden stuff. I think I did use Shockmaster in that build, and I might still have Heavy Storm in there. A lot of stuff came back it used, though, like Exciton Knight and Witch of the Black Forest, along with Thousand-Eyes Restrict(as it was banned at the time I created the deck in general, though it wasn't added till way later, so it only technically counts), and that might be it? I don't remember using Pot of Greed(though no reason not to), though.

Orcust can't be splashed into literally anything anymore, so they're still really hurting with Mermaid gone.

Monarchs are super bricky so Ehther coming back won't do much.

Which is why Pantheism should move up so the deck can be viable. Right now, they're giving the last card they need at 3 back. This is how they poorly attempted to give back tools for Qlis. They just needed Scout to 3 ages ago. Their equip spell didn't hurt either. Stormforth's only real problem, other than Ehther being stupid with it in general, is that it's abusable a little too easily in True Draco, and to no surprise... they're viable partially due to it like anybody could see coming.

The only issue with Pantheism at most was the burn/Exodia FTK's, and those are dead with Chicken Game gone. And even if that moved up, Terraforming's limit kills it a bit too. Though my guess is the fact that they don't need to summon anything generally is why Chicken Game is kept gone. You could still get to it via other methods, like Planet Pathfinder(which don't get me wrong, would still be bricky too, but it seems more like a safety precaution at this point). Though mind you I'm referring to how it might still be a viable FTK if Chicken Game went back to 3. At 1, it's not possible to really abuse for any easy wins. I mean, assuming the deck doesn't get Droll'd, but they could easily play around an Ash in comparison.

Droll might see more sideplay now. Also, Reincarnation is perhaps the evilest counter to Deep Dragon Draw Exodia possible... if you go first.
