[up] level 9 is a weird level for a fusion that need yubel. Is this because of the anime version of super poly?

It's meant to be Yubel before fully forming, when Yubel still needs to attach to someone else to have a presence, hence Level 9 Fusion.

The effect is funny though, instant Level 12 Yubel when your opponent tries to activate an effect lmao.

Yubel’s arm is their only solid part there. Recall they first appeared in the anime as just the arm with a glowing, intangible body that poor deluded Professor Viper thought was his dead son’s ghost, accordingly cooperating with Yubel.

Viper’s son was also one of the VANISHINGLY few characters whose death wasn’t edited around in the dub.

So. I want to make sure you all understand that Phantom of Yubel is absurd, and could very well be what the deck needed to be meta. Like it's a negate that you make by breathing heavily and summons your boss monster, and turns the brickiest cards in the deck into starters.

And the fact that it's level nine means that if you have Nightmare Throne up, it lets you summon Spirit of Yubel on top of whatever other guy you're summoning off that effect.

What ive also learned is that its special summon condition isnt once per turn either, so you can have very easy non fusion material fodder for link or rank 9 plays

While we're waiting for the next batch of news, I'm kind of surprised that they never tried to fill out the missing combinations for the original group of Elemental Heroes.

Even if you want to ignore any kind of double-up fusion (Avian + Avian), there's still quite a few combos that were never used in the anime.

The big issue is that Konami and the players don't like Fusion with specific requirements (esp given the speed of the game nowadays). so any specific combo that didn't get used past GX is off the table.

What also doesn't help is that there is no reason to use them over the more generic versions like Omni-HEROES, Masked HEORES, etc. Or that Jaden switched to a more Neos-focused strat midway which choked out space for potential combos. The manga didn't help there wither as he used a different suite of heroes that only added to the list potential combos and ASLO switch starts midway (Masked HEROES this time)

If Konami had decided to use generic mats for GX out of the gate, maybe this issue wound't be so, but then again it would've also led to a unrecognizable GX era and likely accelerated powercreep.

Like you're more likely to see Konami fill in the gaps with Masked HEROES or even NEX counterparts than you are to see combos like Wildheart+Bubbleman, Burstinatrix+Lady Heat or Bladedge+Avian be things.

I'm still waiting for Pot of Bubbleman. Bubbleman of Greed.

Whatever they call Bubbleman with his anime effect. I don't think it'd be terribly OP compared to some things that we have now.

[up][up] I mean, it's not as if every single thing they've ever released in the past few years has been super playable. They could probably get by by including it in a set that's also got some over designed monstrosity and do fine.

Perhaps (Enlightenment Dragon is a thing after all), but I don't think they will do it often, esp for HERO.

[up]Enlightenment isn't even that overdesigned, and it is playable.

Was talking about the whole "fusions with two specific mats" thing, irrespective of the rest of its design. It is the only card in the recent card pool that has that (though the Albaz fusions had one named material in all but three cases, two being because of being part of a different archetype)

As I was planning on listening to "Black Hole Sun" I just found about about this card "Ebon Sun". It was designed to work with The Supremacy Sun, but I can already see it being used to cheese discard costs for Diabellstar and other cards, gain life points off of Clear New World, etc.

Yeah, that's part of the "Gold Sarcophagus of Light" support, which I guess is now called "Shining Sarcophagus"

If I could ask a Master Duel question here, how good are the decks at each level of ranked considered to be?

Rookie/Bronze/Silver. Waters of jank. Realm of people who dont really play yugioh alot but will never stop playing DM or Blue Eyes.

Gold: Skill starts to matter a bit more, but weird decks can still be found. Losses dont affect rank here yet so its the last stop before entering stronger waters.

Platnium/Diamond: Welcome to modern yugioh. Expect many players here to know their stuff and are trying to climb up the ladder. Master 5-2: Victory is all that matters. We shall stun you, otk you, combo 30 minutes into boards you never thought possible. We have tech cards you arent sure are even real specifically for cards you just used. Only the bravest travel here.

Master 1: Silly! Once you've climbed to the top you can play whatever you want. Honestly whatever you fight up there is between you and God. Expect anything and everything.

Hmm. Alright. At the end of last season I was one win away from Platinum 1, with a variant of the gifted Swordsoul Deck and my original deck, but now I'm not progressing, have the occassional backslide, and opposing decks are more boring than fun. I'm wondering how much of it is a skill issue on my part. If I'm a "third rate duelist with a fourth rate deck", i.e. a duelist whose skill isn't good enough to get beyond the third highest grouping (Platinum) using the cards I like that might not actually be good enough for Platinum consistently (so, Gold).

Victory is all that matters. We shall stun you, otk you, combo 30 minutes into boards you never thought possible.

I feel like this describes my experience in Platinum. Like:

  • that XYZ ftk burn deck that ends with 3 monsters on their turn, ranks up one XYZ on your turn and destroys another, gaining 17,000 LP and doing the same amount in damage before you've even had your own standby phase
  • Superheavy Samurai Artifact Scythe lock
  • Runick/Gozen Match/Rivalry of Warlords
  • And so many Labrynth, or Branded, or Snake Eye decks.

Just a reminder that there's a Master Duel specific thread under the Video Games section of the forums.

It is when you consider its AG.

Its a good card. Not being special summoned is a non issue in AG as the NS is basically free and tanker can also ss it regardless. Its a search target with AG box, has protection with ag duel, and can send a golem as cost to help set up gy plays. All around a good card for AG.

Exosisters read like a weird Catholic School yuri manga. "Buddy" is doing a lot of heavy lifting.
