Congratulations~! I just got my first purple hyacinth myself... though ironically, it spawned off of two of my half-dozen oranges rather than any of the field of blues I've been cultivating for just that purpose. Ah, RNG...

I got my first green mum today.

All I need now is purple windflowers and blue roses.

Blue Hyacinths that you cultivated yourself by breeding whites aren't capable of producing purples; it's the mystery island tour blues that can breed purples, they've got rare genes. Otherwise oranges are your best bet.

I'm working on purple hyacinths and green mums myself. I have some orange hyacinths grouped up, and I just got my second purple mum today (and I'm pretty sure they're both the right kind to make hybrids).

I have mum, hya, and lily gardens near my house; my brother is handling the other kinds. I think we're still missing purple pansies, purple tulips, blue roses, and black cosmos.

I've been sprouting blue roses like mad lately, due to the constant rainfall my island gets. I'll be happy to let anyone looking for them have one or two; in fact I can provide nearly any kind of flower, especially roses and tulips.

June's the season of big fishes.

Funny you should say that because my blues were all cultivated from either whites or each other and they were what spawned my purples rather than my oranges. Mind explaining that?

Also I think I'm cursed to never get rid of Sprocket because I have not had a single camper show up after Pecan. And I got even more dupes today. Is the game punishing me for rejecting her?

Got lucky with beetles. The island I visited was raining (and thus no bug spawn besides tree beetles) and had lots of palm trees.

I am crying however because of how rare Arowana is.

I have about 16 blue roses, so I'll be more than happy to let you have a couple, if you want. I do also have a handful of green mums, so I'd be okay with parting with one. Purple windflowers, though, I have only two, and I'm trying to cultivate more. So, for that, I'll say a tentative 'maybe later'. And don't feel so bad about it. The first blue roses I got were trades themselves (though I did later sprout one naturally from bred red roses anyway).

On a tangentially related note, Redd finally visited my island yesterday with three genuine articles. I bought the left Wild Painting for myself, my housemate laid claim to the Scary Painting, and the Perfect Painting I let someone else buy in exchange for an Amazing Painting, of which I already have one. So, if anyone else has a spare real artwork for trade, I'm open to it.

White hyacinths bought from seeds have the genetic code rryyWw. Breeding them together gives you a 25% chance of getting rryyWW, which is blue.

Purple hyacinths have RRYYww genes, which is literally the inverse of the most common blue hyacith, so it's impossible to get purples directly from those blues. However, the blue hyacinths you get from island tours have RRYyww instead, and those can be bred for a 25% chance of getting purples.

The only way I can think of that this happened without mystery tour flowers was that you somehow got RRYyww blues from breeding reds and oranges together or something, and they were next to whites so it looked like the whites produced them.

Redd actually showed up yesterday... with four fakes. (I thought it was three fakes and a real, but the Graceful Painting I got turned out to also be a forgery.)

Also, to correct something I said a few pages ago, it turns out someone datamined the odds for Redd's wares: 10% chance of three real and one fake, 50% two real and two fake, 30% one real and three fakes, 10% four fakes. There's always at least one bad one in the batch.
