Nah, just wondering. I'd recognise d-orbitals anywhere, but I can't remember anything about them anymore. It's been a while... I kinda miss Chemistry, although I was always better at Organic Chemistry rather than Inorganic.

...and the conclusion I came up with and the song I would have asked about was Shut Up And Explode, which fitted the general jist of the hints you gave (well, apart from the female lead part), and could have been related to the hint in an incredibly snarky way. But whatever, I don't really like that song (Crystal Energy) much, so I probably wouldn't have got it without more hints anyway.
