I see no reason to doubt that this is what happened.

Wrestler Kirby has a lot more close-range attacks (like jabs and kicks) to supplant his grabs, can dash grab straight up, and also copies Alex's Flying Cross Chop and Cammy's Spiral Arrow.

It's a straight upgrade over Suplex designed with a fighting game setting in mind, basically.

Someone on Twitter went crazy over that the masks that used in the Moon Warriors Boss Battle in Story Mode might belong to the other two heroes that sealed Void Termina away.

So here's a thing. Apparently, there's a folder in Kirby Fighters 2 marked "Kirby3d."

I'm actually glad he did dial back the Christian Kirbo gag a little. It's funny but he really overplayed it back in Something About Kirby's Adventure.

Something that's bugged me for a while: what's Bomb Kirby's new(ish, seeing as it's been around for a few years) hat a reference to?

Also, the Kirby Fighters 2 OST rocks.

It's kind of surprising to think they've never had a track in a game that put Dedede and Meta Knight's themes together. Even Smash's Superstar Medleys tended to to keep Meta Knight's themes away from everything else.

Makes sense. Smash is basically Kirby mechanics reimagined as a fighting game.

I had a thought.

What if they were always intending to release Kirby Fighters 2 when they did and somebody thought that it was already released and accidentally put it on the list early.

I'd imagine that's pretty close to what went down. Big video game companies don't typically alter their release schedules based on leaks, so it's basically a guarantee that Nintendo always meant to shadow-drop KF2 when they did. The webpage getting updated early was a mistake of some form; perhaps they meant for it to update automatically when KF2 was out, but they fumbled and the site updated right away.

My guess about Bomb Kirby is that the original look looked too close to Sword Kirby, so they decided to give him a wizard hat instead.

Bomb Kirby's modern hat is based on a party popper, if I'm not mistaken.

Well it's a party hat with explosion-like patterns on it. And ever since Return to Dreamland when the hat switched the actual bomb explosions have had a firework appearance, so I guess they decided to just make "party" a theme for bomb Kirby.

It's amusing that the shape of the original Bomb/Sword hat was an exact replica of the Poppy Bros. Jr. hat that Bomb was referencing, but slightly off from Link's cap that Sword was referencing... but even now that Sword is the only one with the hat, they never get rid of the pompom at the tip. It's like Kirby is wearing a knock-off Link cap (and don't get me wrong, I like it just fine that way).

Speaking of Sword Kirby, have you noticed that his cap is now knitted.

Second thing, for those who have played Kirby Fighters 2, how are you finding the online? It's not bad in my opinion.

Godawful online in a Nintendo game? I'm shocked. Shocked!

I really hope this year gives them the kick in the pants they need to start improving their online. It's already starting to do so for other companies.

How does Kirby fighters feel? I'm tempted to get KF 2.

It plays like a Kirby game but the abilities have been slightly tweaked to better fit a fighting game.

Also Magolor is still overpowered despite being nerfed for this game.

Also, also petition to get Mirror, Leaf, and Sleep in this game.

Edit: Oh, and if you ever fight Gooey I advise keeping your distance because if you get close you can easily be trapped in his neutral B.

The Tridimensional Cannon in Planet Robobot kind of although the idea there was more the halberd in general.

Parallel Rivals in Star Allies also uses a snippet of the Revenge of MK ending (which was his boss theme in the game) and a snippet from Masked Dedede.
