Mass Effect RP

Dano'Qam is in Engineering, working on... something going wrong with the engine. He stops for a moment and speaks into his omni-tool

"Ship's all ready for you guys. It's small, ugly and badly armed, but it's a start."

"Don't undersell yourself, man." Una answered, walking around the bridge inspecting the ship. "It kinda smells funny too." The Asari wanderer found herself adjusting her pistol in its holster at her hip. She wasn't with the Eclipse any more, she had to remind herself, although one could be forgiven for assuming she was, given her practical, loose-fitting casual wear, but hey, as far as she was concerned, she had saved her "sisters" over at Eclipse the laundry bill by not returning this stuff.

"I'll be up on the bridge in a minute! The engine's being a bosh'tet!"

Dano enters then engine room. The sound of his omni-tool reactivating is heard, followed by an Overload attack.

"Just had to hit the manual restart!"

"This thing? Malfunctioning? Fancy that." Una mumbled as she poked a loose panel with some important-looking wires behind it. That had to be a security risk of some sort. "This thing is five minutes from bosh'teting us into a million little pieces." She wasn't talking to anyone in particular now, she just felt it had to be said.

"How much money did you actually spend on this wreckage with an FTL drive?" Torkar asked through the communicator.

Larry had to lean across to the navigator's chair to hit the intercom.

"Please tell me they paid you to take it away. I've seen elcor ships with easier to move rudders."

He glanced at his omnitool as it continued running calibrations and adjusted the input sensitivity.

"Who even made this rustbucket?"

It moves and it has life support. Would you rather walk?

Una frowned as she ran through her checklist, defending this place would be... problematic to say the least. "Walking would probably be safer." She mumbled, pondering if she should blow some cash on a decent VI, or something to kick the antiquated security systems into the right gears. From what she could tell, the system had two modes as of now, "Off" and "Shoot anything that moves." Or so she thought, techy stuff seemed as alien to her as her species' reproductive habits seemed to most humans.

"Well no, but it'd be nice to be able to sleep without wearing my suit."

Larry gave the console an affectionate punch.

"Aw hell, it's ours. Maybe after a mission or two and some upgrades we might even be able to come aboard without a teatnaus shot."

Nathaniel sighs "Dano. I swore you promised us a good ship. I've seen better ships in the back end of the Alliance fleet. This ship is a joke. Fear this crew as they fly in a rusty schoolbus! Didn't your rep give you more money to buy something actually usable?"

Yeah, it's called everyone-charges-a-quarian-more-because-my-ancestors made-the-geth-and-the-rest-of-us-suffer-for-it.

Or maybe I just went to a dodgy dealer. Maybe he didn't know I was the first /uns quarian and I could, and may well will now kill him without bating an eyelid.

On the plus side, I have te engines running.

"Hey, don't put down the back fleet like that. We had some standards." Larry rejoined with mock severity.

His Omni-tool beeped at him and he straightend in the helmsman's seat.

"Okay, I'm good to squeeze whatever we can out of this Prothean artifact when you are."

Nathaniel laughs. "Prothean!? Older than that. Looks older than that ship which attacked the Citadel!"

"Man, I saw that thing with my own eyes, no optic enhancements. She might've been old, but she was in fantastic shape."

Larry couldn't bite his tounge any longer.

"Not unlike certain crew members, hurr hurr."

He stares. "Who you referring to? Dano doesn't look too bad. I've seem worse Quarians. Dano should be lucky Blue Suns didn't assign him to that mission. Archangel would have destroyed him."

He smiles. "At least we got a Krogan."

"Double negatives pal, they're handy. As for our Krogan shipmate: When you get the chance I could use a hand with these foot pedals, they're freaking hydraulics. Haven't seen those since I went to the Amish Country on leave. That was a mistake."

Una grumbled as she bent over and looked at an air vent along the floor. "Whoever designed this thing was either thinking with his ass or actively hated security." She couldn't see where the thing was going, the blueprints could help her, or not, she'd encountered some pretty... unhelpful blueprints in her time. "Yeah, that's a welding job alright." She said as she rose back up.

Didn't last 5 minutes. Timed you.

You know Arhangel's dead, right? Nailed him with a gunship. That's what I've been told, anyway.

Nathaniel's eyebrows raise. "Hydraulics? Jeez Dano. Were you looking for the oldest ship in the whole damn shipyard? So would any of you guys mind gathering your budget and buying a real ship?"

"Are you sure that's a good thing human boy?" Torkar said at the mention of him "Still I like our little piece of rusty metal, reminds me fiery wrecks over which we cooked the remains of our enemies back in Tuchanka"

"A Gunship? On Omega? That's some pretty sweet flying. Not sure how I feel about that particular kill, but I'd buy the pilot a drink."

"Heh, Nathan, if I had my pension why would I be here?"

You don't like it, go to the old Suns base I was at. Gonna have a ton of credits lying around there, and it's still shot up pretty bad.

"Speaking of which." Una said, leaning on the most solid piece of railing she could find, she couldn't help but notice that the bridge was in dire need of some sitting space. "What's the big plan here? I can accept the charm of a ramshackle ship and a ragtag bunch of misfits as much as the next guy, but some sort of mission statement would be lovely."

Larry stroked his chin contemplatitively.

"I'm not opposed to that idea myself. A little scavenging might do us some good. If the fuel guage isn't lying I can get us to about quarter of the way to the citadel and back on one tank with a reasonable ammount of spare fuel."

"What's that? You were actually going to get a pension? C-Sec never gave me one."

He turns to Dano. "Any ships remaining in the base? I'm sure it'd fly better than this thing. Larry's mom would make a better ship then this thing!"

His eyebrows raise. "I heard of the death of Archangel. Sadly I saw him get up after. THAT'S when I ran. If a gunship can't kill him what can?"
