Tales of Arise was just officially announced at Microsofs EA conference.

The protagonist pulled a flaming Long sword out of totallynot!Lailah, so this is 90% another entry in the Zesteria world.

Time to win that bet and make those Celestial Seraphs cry like the big babies they are.

It looks like an actual modern game made this year instead of another PS 3-PS 4/PC port, so thats hype.

Not!Lailah has a gun. Distant sequel sounds about right.

Wonder if we’ll see any returning characters. Hard to say what the timeframe is here, but I don’t think it really matters in this case.

The plot this time apparently involves two worlds in conflict with one constantly stealing resources and shit from the other. Kinda like Eternia honestly. Which I'm hoping means its a whole new universe.

It might be. Too early to tell right now.

Magic gate between the two sealed by a magical bet.

Nah still works even if you factor in those details.

Just saying that it could get annoying after a while.

And based on how it look,s the switch would probably have a hard time rendering all the new effects.

Yeah, I honestly got enough of that port begging stuff from Flight Master on here and it gets tiring.

The Switch can run Skyrim, true, but that has limits and I actually kind of doubt Arise will run on it.

You got Vesperia on Switch anyway so its not totally devoid of Tales games.

Fair enough.

I mean, I did say I didn't want to be a broken record.

I just...I thought we were past this. I thought the Switch would be getting more.

And it's getting a lot, but some companies still seem to snub them and put their A game on Sony and Microsoft systems.

I figured a handheld that's almost as powerful as most consoles would draw them in more.

I was hoping for some fresh stuff too.

The Swtich is strong, but with the new Sony and Microsoft consoles coming out next year, Nintendo is gonna need to update their switch'es graphics capabilities to truly catch up and keep third parties. They're stable now, bt its very precarious at the moment.

Also, I hear a lot on how PS 5 is gonna be backwards compatible with the PS 4 library, something the PS 4 itself sorely lacked with PS 3.

Heh. Well, they had the guts to keep with that story. I guess they wanted to finish what they started.

Now it's the Zestybersyriseverse

The bet is won and the Celestials just get pettier would be the natural conclusion.

Plus a world of the dead and the Divine fits when we know humans can reincarnate into Seraphs even though neither race get how it works.

It also might be the same setting but a different continent. There’s at least one other as of Berseria, but it was only ever mentioned.

Oh there's defnitely more lands out there.

Their own version of Dhaos vs Martel happens on one of them.

I'm pretty out of touch with Tales, so when I saw someone pulling a sword out of someone else I immediately assumed it was connected to Tales of Destiny, because it and its sequel were the only Tales games I recalled involving swords as people.

@ Kombat: heeeey, I did not port beg! I just wanted Namco to show some respect for Nintendo, that's all.

1996-2003: You don't get Tales games cuz the N64 sucks lol.

2004-2007: You get Symphonia, and no more games cuz the GC sucks lol.

2008-2011: You get a zero budget spinoff and don't get Graces cuz the Wii sucks.

2012-2017: You get no Tales games (Not even Symphonia HD!) cuz the Wii U sucks.

I thought that those dark days were finally left behind, like Rob hoped.

@ Rob: you have to remember that games like Disgaea 5, FF XII Zodiac age and Dragon Quest 11 have their definitive editions on Switch. And they released at least a full year after the big console versions. It's too soon to say 'it will NEVER be released on Switch'.
