It could be fun if future Metroid games did a Castlevania thing where there's an alternate campaign where you play as a character that already has all the upgrades. Play as Raven Beak and just stomp your way through the game.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersOh hell yeah, playable Raven Beak would be cool. Or playable Anthony, play tactically with a plasma cannon that takes a while to reload, so you have an ice pistol sidearm.
Raven Beak should be as OP as possible and the final boss should be Metroid Samus.
Heck, I think a prequel story starring Raven Beak in his prime would be cool.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. There's nothing to suggest he isn't in his prime in Dread, though.
I mean, his forces have been decimated from dealing with the X, but Raven Beak himself? Seems pretty powerful already.
I mean, he's visibly old as per Chozo lore.
If he's this badass as an old man, imagine how tough he is at his physical prime.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Got the Gravity Suit in Dread and I gotta say, either Sakamoto or someone in Mercury Steam must have loved the Seeker Missiles from Prime 2 because the Storm Missile is basically that in Itano Circus form.
I've heard more than a few people say that seeker missiles were the best idea that Other M had, and I can see why. They're a pretty nifty gimmick.
They debuted in Prime 2 last I checked but yeah
Yeah, Echoes was the debut of both Seeker missiles and 3D Screw Attack.
Also I don't think there is a scan for the pond in the Groove of Life you power bomb for an Artifact.
I ended up needing to backtrack after I started the artifact hunt.
"But if that happened, Melia might actually be happy. We can't have that." - Handsome RobFinished playing Super Metroid.
Previously when we were ranking games I listed Zero Mission as higher, mainly because ZM was my first Metroid game and also because my experience with Super Metroid before was rife with getting lost and frustration. Trying it again, I got lost much less often and found myself liking the level design, longer game length, and environmental storytelling much better. The clunky controls are still an issue, so in terms of fun ZM still has the edge for me, but I would like to see a remake of Super Metroid with more modern intuitive controls.

The floatiness I could tolerate. What bugged me more was the sheer amount of tools assigned to Select.
"Let me look around for hidden blocks. Select Missile, Super Missile, Power Bomb, Grapple, X-Ray Scope. Now I see it, a Power Bomb block. De-Select Scope, Select Missile, Super Missile, Power Bomb. Laying Bomb. Now there's another wall where I can't find the hidden blocks. Select Missile, Super Missile, Power Bomb, Grapple, X-Ray Scope..."
It gets even worse if I want to switch tools in the middle of combat.

Yeah as good as Super Metroid is it's stuff like that which make me place other games above it on my personal ranked list. I'd love a remake with updated mechanics.
/crawls back under rockUpdate on AM2R:
I'm pretty sure I'm 3/4 done with the game and still loving it. Just found the Ice Beam, kicked Serris' ass with it, blasted those stupid green alien barriers, and made my way through the caverns to finally meet the final step of a Metroid's evolution and it's...a giant mutant rat. It's a pretty tough rat to beat, though.
Also, R. I. P. The scientists and rescue team. Pretty sad that you find them just in time to see them get killed.

Just a simple man, making my way through the Tropes. You know what's funny about the Space Pirates? I noticed this while playing Zero Mission and then had to go back and double check.
Metroid 1 does not feature a single Space Pirate in it, outside of the bosses Kraid, Ridley, and Mother Brain. Super Metroid introduced the standardized bipedal blaster-shooter design that would become the Space Pirate model.
This carries over to Zero Mission, too. Despite infiltrating the Pirates' base of operations to take down their leadership, you never fight a single standard Space Pirate in the Metroid 1 segment of the game. It isn't until the new "infiltrate Ridley's ship" portion that Space Pirates actually enter this game about fighting Space Pirates.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Oh yeah, that's the Omega Metroid. It was in the original game and slightly less of a pain due to being smaller. Even tho it floated in that version. Funnily enough the Omega Metroid in Samus Returns kinda fights like its AM 2 R version in some respect. And really, all three of them are way more badass bosses compared to the Omega's final boss stint in Metroid Fusion where all it had was a claw swipe and it died to Ice Beam spam.
They were in the manual...I guess.

If I had to guess it's probably Early-Installment Weirdness making it so every enemy in the Famicom/NES game was a "Space Pirate" before Super treated most of the returning enemies as hostile wildlife instead.

🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaZero Mission has Space Pirates in Tourian… as corpses. The cutscene as Samus takes the elevator down implies the Metroids broke out and killed all the Pirates in the base.
I think it's actually more likely that Mother Brain knew you were coming, so she let the metroids out of containment so they'd attack you, not caring if they also ate pirates.
I like to believe Mother Brain let the Metroids out.
Like. She's a Chozo organic AI thing that's only allied with the Space Pirates. So it's no skin off her back. As soon as she found out Ridley was dead and his killer was headed her way, she calc'd that the Metroids would make for a stronger line of defense than the Pirates and promptly let them loose.

Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Plus she can mentally control the Metroids anyway.
She even tested out her control and made the Metroids eat some Pirates for an appetizer.

I also came across a wall in the Ruins that doesn’t scan at all (or maybe I didn’t look at it right—the color-coded scans in the sequels are a big QOL upgrade), but it’s cracked like other walls. Missile for a Missile Expansion.
