I haven't been to any of my local stores lately to see what they have, but as far as Ultimate Wave 2 goes, I'm only looking for the Plant since I pre-ordered K. Rool and the Ice Climbers months ago...which is bad news for me if Plant is turning out to be this wave's unicorn.

It helps that Sakurai is probably on the wealthier end of things and probably got into the business because he really likes games.

Previous wave was similar: Ridley was common, Wolf was rare and later on became common and I found two Inklings period. Its weird seeing multiple Ridleys and Wolfs but they don't reprint Inkling.

For wave 3, I'm predicting common Young Link, rare Ken and invisible Daisy.

Speaking of which I just realized this is probably Ivysaur's merch that is beyond Pokemon "standard". By standard I mean all mons get a mon-colle figure and a card and maaaybe a plush, Ivysaur wasn't featured at all in the anime unlike his base form and isn't a final form so it doesn't get as much visibility compared to the other mons in Smash and thus almost no merch.

Poll on the hardest spirit battles

I only decided to choose 15 because otherwise the Strawpoll would be stacked with answers, so I missed a few such as Baby Bowser.

I voted The Boss and 9-Volt and 18-Volt. The Boss is mostly a player skill challenge, depending on how good you are with your character you'll have an easier time. The latter fight mainly because of Sheriff, assist killer or not you still have to get near him to kill him.

Pauline, because it throws a combination of a gigantic stage that requires effort just to navigate, a punishingly short time limit, and two very aggressive AI that chase you down (combo-heavy Mario to keep you locked in hitstun while powerhouse DK finishes you off) while you're trying to chase down one of the floatiest characters in the game who runs the instant you even get semi-close to her.

You can use the Staff to try and cheese a victory, but even that requires a lot of luck/dexterity/timing. The reason I beat it was due to Artificial Stupidity and Peach self-destructing off the bottom of the stage.

I feel like there's two different types of difficult spirit battles. Difficult but fun (The Boss, Geno) and then there's just plain ones that are just horrible such as Pauline and 9-Volt & 18-Volt.

I'd rather do The Boss purely because it's one of the most fun fights and is purely skill based, instead of just throwing a bullshit gimmick at you and calling it a day like Pauline.

Is this toughness in terms of a spiritless run, or just tough in general?

Spiritless, probably Wily or the Boss would take it. With spirits, though, a KO heal spirit and/or a Franklin Badge spirit makes Wily very manageable, and Madame Butterfly turns the Boss into a joke.

Meanwhile, I feel like the 9 Volt & 18 Volt fight isn't quite as bad as Wily and the Boss, but there aren't really any shortcut spirits that make that fight easier.

I'd vote 9 Volt & 18 Volt as the worst, mostly since a lot of the other hard ones are relatively easy to cheese (Pauline you can use a Staff or count on Artificial Stupidity, Dr. Wily is a breeze if you use Ness/Lucas to heal between waves, Giga Mac and The Boss you can make pretty manageable by abusing a character with a good grab at the edge of the stage, etc.). 9 Volt & 18 Volt there isn't really anything like that you can do, since even with Assist Killer its a massive pain to take out Sheriff before he racks your damage up to obscene levels. x3

A Spirit that confers Super Armour (Full Armor X if primary, Gold Mario if support) is the ticket to beating the 9 Volt & 18 Volt fight. Rush in, kill the Sheriff, and the other two are easy enough to take down after that.

I voted Pauline and Geno.

Pauline for the outright sadistic parameters of the battle. Geno for having no consistent cheese methods, forcing you to play skillfully.

Black shadow was the one that gave me the most grief. Captain Falcon and Ganondorf were unrelenting in their assault and the random spikes in damage you would take was not helpful at all. Took me a good 20 tries to beat them and the fact that he's a Spirit Board exclusive meant I couldn't just re-try over and over again like the difficult fights in World of Light.

I do lots of stuff. The real question is am I any good at that stuff.

This is pretty normal for amiibo. After the initial preorders go out, sometimes it takes a bit for more stock to appear online. amiibo aren't what they used to be in terms of popularity, they don't fly off the shelves anymore. It's not out of place to see piles of amiibo in bargain bins sometimes.
