I feel like there's a weird delay to Mario's recovery. Several times now I've fallen off the edge and, despite my best efforts, his Up + B doesn't seem to kick in until it's too late.

Air dodging has a really large amount of end lag on it that prevents any other action, so if you've been trying to air dodge towards the stage to recover you might of screwed yourself several times.

the bad ends just kick you back to the file select screen, and you can reload your game from just before you did the thing that made the bad end happen. It doesn’t hurt your file.
