One, actually, since Otherarrow changed his vote.
I have failed as a tally counter. I must now forsake my task forever to the strains of dramatic music. Or something
I wish my life was soundtracked.
Heart of StoneOtherarrow, whyyyyy! Why hast thou forsaken the human village etc. etc. Nitori, eh? It's about time i gave her a good thinking-over. Would also do Nazrin. Not like that, shush.
And yeah, I think an occasional place-round might be a good idea. Which reminds me I should get on my Gensokyo writeup. I've been doing... a lot of write ups >_>.

I write some fanfiction. Satori's Tale is done... but I'm not.Honestly? Super honest? I don't like Nitori for some reason. And not in a "Let's talk about Tenshi so I can rant about why I hate her" kinda way. In a "I'm not feeling this one, can we do someone else?" kinda way.
Stupid and selfish I know, but eh. Sorry for the trouble.
And yes, I still think a "place round" would be a nice change of pace.

LE GASP! PARITY!
Heart of StoneI just couldn't think of a third character. It's like writing in a vote for Mickey Mouse, I guess.
A super capitalist Touhou character would be fun, though.
If Reimu weren't so lazy, she could do it. Alas.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersKanako sorta half-counts. It wouldn't seem odd from her, at least, so long as she keeps her soul.
I sure said that!"And this, Sanae, is the very first faith I earned. I keep it special. Now come, you've finally gathered enough faith that I can swim in it."
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIf you think about it, hoarding every coin you earn isn't very capitalist at all. Hasn't he heard of investment?
He doesn't actually hoard every coin he earns. The ones in the vault are just the ones he earned personally or some such nonsense. He's got a lot more money out there in the field earning money.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersWhat about Mrs. Two-Stones?
Anyway, profile - I started one for Nitori back when she was still in the lead, with the thought that if the votes got close I could cash mine for the character I'd just written up a profile for. I'm sleep-deprived and distracted, so I don't think it's my best work, but I expect tomorrow is not going to give me many opportunities to improve it or write one for another character - at least not for another twenty-four hours or so.
So pick your poison: a somewhat suspect Nitori profile now, or a profile tomorrow night (God willing). Or I guess someone else could do one for Scrooge or whoever might be in the lead now, I dunno.

Wasn't she a moneylender?
For lack of suggestions to the contrary, it's turtle time.
Theme:
Akutagawa Ryuunosuke's "Kappa" ~ Candid Friend*
Stage: The Flawless Fortress ~ The Untrodden Valley
bgm: The Gensokyo the Gods Loved*
Spellcard Motif: Rivers, Water | Kappa-city | Applications of Gadgetry
Notable spellcards: MoF, DS
Optics "Optical Camouflage," Drown "Trauma in the Glimmering Depths," Water Sign "Kappa's Flash Flood," Kappa "Monster Cucumber," Kappa "Exteeeending Aaaaarm," Water Sign "Water Carpet"
Write-up:
Nitori is Touhou's most well-known* kappa, and in many ways exemplifies her race. She is fascinated by humans and enjoys watching them, though her shyness leads her to do so from concealment, and she'll try to scare away any who wander into a dangerous place like the Youkai Mountain. She's also a skilled engineer who will disassemble human-made devices to see how they work. It is this vocation that overshadows Nitori's ability to manipulate water - magic in a place like Gensokyo is almost passé, but home-made optical camouflage, force fields, and exteeeending aaaaarms get more attention, to say nothing of the missiles. And she also loves cucumbers, to the extent of making a spellcard to summon one as a snack.
ZUN describes her personality as a bit strange, and mentions that it may shift suddenly in the middle of a conversation. This, along with the aforementioned gadgetry, leads many fan works to employ Nitori as a mad scientist, with her mere presence excusing any giant robots or modern conveniences that appear in the story. Her team-up with Marisa for Subterranean Animism has led Nitori to be added to the witch's harem, while other works use her interest in humans to explore some interspecies romance, usually turned tragic by her shyness, hostile villagers, etc.
Less explored are Nitori's darker aspects, such as her spell card that gives her opponent traumatic flashbacks to looking at the water's surface from the wrong side, hints that the kappa's "friendship" with humans might be more one-sided than they think, or the fact that, as one tengu put it, sometimes it looks like kappa are "playing innocently, but if you look closely you tend to see a human drowning." Nobody seems eager to touch on the issue of surprise proctology either, though this is understandable. With feuding immortals and dead princesses around, maybe just being a cucumber-loving amphibious machinist is enough.
Relations:
- Marisa Kirisame (ally, or maybe more?)
- Kanako Yasaka (local goddess, employer)
- Suwako Moriya (local goddess, fellow mecha enthusiast?)
- Hisoutensoku (creator?)
- MoF cast in general (neighbors)
- Those other kappa◊ (fashion imitators, fellow engineers, rival engineers)

"Seriously, don't eat the mermaid. And not just because it's half cannibalism." ~OtherarrowYou didn't wait long enough.
Nitori seems rather friendly for a butthole stealing turtle monster. Maybe she didn't get the memo that youkai and humans were ment to be "enemies", for lack of a better term? Maybe she was too fascinated by humans and their ways. She wanted to go talk to them, but could never overcome her shyness. So she has to be content with sneaking into the village using a faulty camo device and hopes no one notices her.
I've always gotten the impression that the kappa weren't the super tech engineers that fanon makes them out to be. I always thought that the kappa were "playing scientist" the same way the tengu were "playing newspaper". Is Nitori just "playing scientist"? Or is she the one with legitimate passion for science?
Then again, they did make the Dragon statue in the human village, and that seems to be a rather legit weather forecast machine.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.They have SCIENCE but they don't really have the scientific method. They are not very empirical, it seems.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThey also aren't big on cooperation. I doubt they have anything approaching technology. Just items that do things. And they probably incorporate magic in their design.
Details details. She's two points ahead of Nazazazazazazazazazazrin at the moment.
