Stellaris's Humanoids and Distant Stars DLC received a free patch yesterday. All humanoid species portraits now have new customization options. If you don't have the Humanoid's DLC, then you'll still get the customization options for the humanoid portraits available in the base games. Meanwhile, Distant Stars got new outcomes to the L-Cluster.

As for CK2, new ways to make friends and enemies.

For those curious Paradox has uploaded a Design Stream videoon Youtube that shows off 2.2 and explains the reasoning behind it.

If you have the time/inclination to watch it it's rather interesting and informative.

So, what's everyone's thoughts on The New Order: Last Days of Europe mod for Hearts of Iron IV?

I think it's quite interesting, dosen't fall for a lot of Dated History tropes regarding Nazi victory scenarios. The fat that the mod is built around avoiding WW3 is also an interesting feature.

Also a side note: we will most likely be getting our first complete monster effortpost associated with any Paradox game(albeit unofficially) from this mod(no one qualifies in any of the games itself, groups can't qualify, and for mods beforehand, no one in Kaiserreich does anything viscerally unpleasant onscreen, and while there is a CM-esque figure in Red World, she's too controversial to ever qualify being a real life political leader in power right now.

I think it can be interesting. I just wish that they’d give us a release date...Not that I’m bored with Kaiserreich or anything.

Well don't expect mods to give us dates until very close to the finish line....

It's interesting, though the exact means of getting to the start date are basically ASB - in particular, the New Economic Policy was on track to meet or exceed the results of the 5 Year Plans for industrialization, which means that Bakunin's USSR should have been at least as industrially prepared for WWII as Stalin's.

Yeah it has a lot of stuff that are frankly ASB like NEP causing downfall of Soviet Union in WWII and Sealion, but it should be noted that the developers have admitted the implausibility of the scenario and it feels like they're building a house of cards(the Nazis assuming total control of Europe) to see how it violently tumbles down when Fascist, but Inefficient nature of Nazi bureaucracy and socioeconomic policies hits Germany hard.

In CK 2, what's a good way to break up a large empire that you feel is getting a bit too large?

Because I've conquered all of Britannia as Mercia, but now the Empire of Francia has taken over all of Denmark and Scandinavia, including Iceland and Faeryar, and I really want to get Faeryar back (not to mention clear the playing field so I can make a push into mainland Europe).

My first thought was by simply killing the Emperor, and that hasn't happened yet, because the Emperor has, like, eight male kids, and if done right, I feel I could work the game's gavelkind magic, but somehow, I don't think it'd be that easy.

And also, the defensive pact I was part of failed, and he shitstomped us. Defo too big to exist.

China is the only "easy" way. Since that won't work in this case, you need to get claims on their various subkingdoms and press said claims, thus tearing big chunks out of the empire. Be ready to break truces while doing this, since you'll need multiple wars to take a hammer to 'em.

So basically, just kick their ass in war.

Problem is, I do have good gold gain, but he has almost 2x my soldiers. I have 17k tops, he tops out around 34k. And I have to cross the Channel to get there, with his capital being right there. However, my soldiers are in a much more condensed area than all of his, being just teh British isles versus Scandinavia, Germania, and Francia.

Eesh. Maybe I should just get the Pope to excommunicate him so I can convince all of the Christian nations and the Byzantines to go after him.

That or start assassinating people, fomenting discord through your Chancellor, stuff like that.

I've been trying to mess with it. I think it's just a classic case of an empire getting too big, but in enough time, there will be a revolt from some of the guy's nobles that I can jump on while he's busy to take him down.

Hi, everyone.

I thought I'd ask - what's everyone's opinion on the Cold War: The Iron Curtain mod for Hearts of Iron 4? I've seen discussions on some of the other mods here (The New Order, Kaiserreich), but don't remember seeing anything about this one.

I found it pretty interesting. So far, its nowhere near complete (partially complete for the 50s, in early access for the 60s, nothing supported beyond 1972/whenever Brezhnev dies) but what already exists allows many options, from plausible (Neutral reunification of Germany) to...not (Restoration of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth). And since the amount of time is so large, and the amount of micromanagement for larger powers not insignificant, it can feel like a marathon at times.

The awful things he says and does are burned into our cultural consciousness like a CRT display left on the same picture too long. -Fighteer

I know it's not gonna be for everyone, but speaking of HOI 4, I highly recommend the Equestria at War mod. Pretty great total map conversion mod, yes it's MLP oriented, but a hell of a lot of effort has been put into it and it's pretty damn well-done.

Anywho, that being said, I've been meaning to expand my mod catalog for HOI 4, so Iron Curtain and several others seem like good ones to pick up.
