Once again, I use a shield for them. They're really the only non-boss enemies I consistently use them for.
Oh by the way, I found a rod called Gallahorne (MST: 506 ATA: 421 Photon Art: Rodeo Drive). It's yours if you want it.
Hmm. I'll check back with you on that, but it sounds good. Anything you're looking for?
Nah, I don't really need anything. I've gotten so many random drops that I've gotten all my gear set up for my other character and the one I have yet to make. You'd have to wait a while to get it. I'm in the upper floors of the Eternal Tower and plan on finishing it. I should be done in about 2-3 hours...- ____ -

On that note, just how tall is the tower in the first place? I tried to run it last night, and lost my patience at floor 60. That stupid message thing said "you have much further to go," and I was like...yeah, no.
101 floors, 7 rooms each floor.
Hibernation mode is your friend.

It's roughly 100 floors. The boss you fight at the top is an amalgamation of all three of the bosses in the tower, Guardian Mother. It's not really all that hard, just stay really close to it and it can't hit you most of the time. You can tell how much further you have to go to the top by pulling up a color wheel and looking at it. The colors of the floor and lighting correspond with colors on a color wheel. Purple is the last color and the final battle ends up being a Batman Can Breathe In Space kinda thing because of how high the tower actually is. She also drops a crazy amount of items. Hybernation mode doesn't tack on to your play time either and you can do it anywhere, even in the middle of a fight. Dying doesn't make you restart from floor one either.

I think I found a decent cannon for you AC. Gun Diva (ATP:595 ATA:486 Photon Art:Divine Ray) it's only problem is it's element is life, so you'll need to change it to something else. Also got a gunblade for you, Bangasa Jikomi (ATP:553 ATA:408 Photon Art:None). Got another Stormer saber for whoever wants it.

No photon art on the gunblade? I'm learning of the importance of chaining. Namely, that if you can build up a good chain, a good photon art like Earth Bullet will deal ridiculous damage. Chaining seems to make photon arts deal critical hits, if those blue flashes are anything to go by. Gunblades seem to be the replacement for shotguns, but they can't control crowds for crap unless they have the Earth Bullet photon art (Bullet dance sucks, boo). Is there any way to give a weapon a photon art? I haven't seen one.
edit: I've also grinded my phobos shoot up to +30 to make it better than my other rifle. It's 6-star, the phobos shoot is 5 star, so...I'm not about to waste trigrinders on something that isn't the best thing I can get my hands on.

Yeah, chaining makes things die like *snap*. I did find a gunblade for a lower level (but has higher stats?!?) that has a photon art, but it's bullet dance. It's called Nersir. (I just got an Ice version, which has the photon art Zero Impact)
On an entirely different note, if you have a weapon with the Tornado Dance photon art and lock onto a target wile using it, you essentially become a big, whirling seeker missile.
Just noticed another oddity with the Tornado Dance. If your back is against a wall when you use it, you'll stay glued to the wall and not move forward, but you'll still do the midair barrel rolls.

...I think I can see my character coughing up blood now...I finally beat the eternal tower on Hard Mode...and I now have some of the best weapons. I've got an Armburst bazooka (ATP:736 ATA:457 Photon Art:Crazy On) and the Asclepios rod (MST:553 ATA:433 Photon Art:Rolling Bar) for you two if you want them. Gonna move on to completeing the rest of the hard mode missions to unlock Very Hard tomorrow. Still didn't get any inventory expansions, just 20 digrinders and 8k meseta.
...Grants is fun.
Especially when you have a mag with Floajil.
Floajil is the one with the two rabbits that give you temporary unlimited PP, right?
I've only got one more mission left until I get Very Hard mode. I've been finding a large amount of joke items (lethal and non lethal varieties) recently. You apparently get an upgraded version of the reward you got on the lower difficulty (e.g. Normal mode mission reward: Twin Ketchup->Hard mode mission reward: Twin Mustard) when you complete the mission. Oh and Miijhal, if your looking for a good shield, do the last mission for the Arca Plant on hard mode, you get a shield that's bigger than your character and has the stats that back up that size (well, it's strong for a shield, and it also says that it deploys automatically [have yet to look into if it really deploys of it's own accord]).

It is. It also grants invincibility if all you chain three other photon blasts with it.
Grants is pretty much what makes a force a force from what I can tell now. :P

Ugh, dear god, whatever you do, do NOT play on Very Hard (it's actually called Super mode, but whatever). The exp is horrible, the item drops suck, and everything has so much HP and ATP that you'll die if your fighting more than 2 Garapythons at once unless your using a shield. Also, the shield I had previously mentioned doesn't self deploy, but it still works really well and takes almost no PP to block. I managed to kill the dragon once, and I had to use a scape doll. it only dropped two red box items (normal and Light Gallahorne), a telepipe, and 4k meseta. Only gave me 4200 exp...
Oh, that trick I mentioned earlier about Tornado Dance and being velcroed to the wall, turns out it works with any Photon Art that moves your forward, like the shield technique Bull Smash.

Happy Thanksgiving all!
Just a quick update on Super mode. I take back my statement about the drops being crappy , they just don't drop weapons that often (the exp still blows). I got a Black Phobos (made from the Black Shard) and it's pretty good. I've started finding 7 star weapons too. Foolishly started up the Eternal Tower on Super mode. I hope to find all of the Zero Weapons sometime soon!
P.S. Status inflictions on foes REEEEALLY help in killing things like the Arkzein and (Za)Phobos

Is it just me or is there something going on between Reve and An-OhdeargodI'mbecommingashipper...
edited 26th Nov '09 5:44:48 PM by Miijhal
Indeed, there does seem to be something there between the two. More one sided than anything though.
edited 26th Nov '09 5:54:19 PM by A-roo
Well, that's two story modes down. Just need to do the CAST story.
Edit: Haha:
Reve: Now I can't die until I correct your obviously erroneous impression of me, you manipulative little...
...Yeah, I treat Reve like crap. >:D

Who doesn't?
I've delved really far into the tower now. I've yet to find one of the Zero weapons, but did find the Fuuma Shuriken slicer and Kai's weapon, the Emperor Axeon.
I actually plan on treating him nice on my next playthrough. I'm going to treat everyone else like crap, though. Especially Ogi.
Been a while since I've posted.
My attempt at the eternal tower has left me kinda burned out, I suppose. I'm trying to make progress on my HUnewm, but I'm moving a bit slowly. I've hit a complete brick wall in hard mode: goddamned Humilias. I mean, sure I could skip him...and I could probably beat Trinity and Falz at my level. But I have to do it. I have to beat him solo, just for the accomplishment. And the only way to beat him is to dodge every single freeze beam, because the resulting sword attack will fucking kill my ass 3/4 of the time.
Maybe I can do the lame thing and purchase 3 scape dolls from the photon drop shop, though for some reason I don't think they will last me the whole fight unless I can master the laser-dodging technique. It can get rather difficult when he's turning the floor red...
I think I said this earlier, but he can't shoot you if your standing underneath him. I could loan you a unit that'll make it a little easier. It's a Null Slow, so if you get hit by the ice beam, the slow beam that comes after will unfreeze you and you can get out of the way un-slowmo'd. If I find a Null Freeze, I can toss that one your way too.
Problem is that hard!Humilias tends to stick to the ice beam; his use of the slow beam is...sporadic at best. Good to know that they have status curing units, though. With any luck, there's a Null/Freeze. And with super-godly luck, I might actually find it.
I have, on rare occasions, managed to get behind him while he's sliding around pre-laser. Usually, though, he moves too quickly for me to pull that off, and I'm extremely worried that if I'm too close to him, it would be impossible to dodge at all.
And apparently I have to do this anyway if you have to beat all the quests to unlock the next difficulty. Not looking forward to the eternal tower...I mean, come on. This game is full of good design decisions, and general improvements over PSO. Who was the bonehead that decided you have to do the Eternal Freaking Tower before you can reach the next difficulty level?!
Your certainly right, and for some reason the tech saver thing I have reduces the PP usage. It gets rediculously hard though after the second boss fight. I walked in to a room with two Arkzein and died five times because all they did was spam missiles and ram into me. And I just encountered the rare version of the giant apes from Paru...and they're called Frunaked for a reason. Now if you'll excuse me I have to bleach my eyes of it.
P.S. The best way to kill the two Arkzein is to stand behind one and have the other one spam missiles and it'll eventually kill the other one and then you can deal with the missile spam one normally.
