No 40K thread yet? I'm surprised. Nay, shocked, shocked I say to discover there's gambling going on in this establishment...
I'm eagerly anticipating the imminent 5th Edition release, personally, but I was interested to know if anyone here plays and has a differing opinion on it. There are certainly plenty of people out there who seem to think that 40K 4th edition "only just" came out and that a new edition isn't needed. Anyone?
Warhammer Fantasy (including Age of Sigmar and WFRP) has its own thread here.

We have another big nasty for Chaos in the Lord Discordant.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireThat looks absolutely sick. Better than everything else in the Shadowspear box, actually.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.We have hit peak Warhammer.
Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies.I maintain that the Emperor's Champion is peak 40k, but this isn't far behind.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.That model is now responsible for me keeping the Chaos half of Shadowspear for a future project (as opposed to selling it off as intended).
I see that nabu-san went ahead and redid the characters index page...did an agreement on doing that ever come together?
I noticed. As I remember I said I liked yours, and suggested an addition, and he said he would be fine with yours but I don't know if it went any further than that.
EDIT:Here is the last time it was mentioned

Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellToday's Forge World pre-orders: Cawdor Bomb Delivery Rats for Necromunda. I love the one with wheels
Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellWhile it is part of the Age of Sigmar Blades of Khorne release, today sees the pre-order release of the plastic Khorne daemons including the awesome new Skulltaker. The Limited Edition version of the first Siege of Terra book, The Solar War, is also available to pre-order from Black Library today

Knowledge is Power, Guard it Well(So sorry for the quadruple post)
Next weeks pre-orders:
Chaos Marine scenery, the Noctilith Crown◊
The Noctilith Crown also represents some exciting developments in the lore. Last year, in Forgebane, we found out Blackstone can be attuned to weaken or strengthen the power of the warp. The Noctilith Crown is one example of what happens when the Heretic Astartes get their hands on this miraculous mineral, used to sunder the veil and allow ingress for their daemonic allies…
Sourcebook Vigilus Ablaze◊ that includes rules for all the new Chaos units. There is also an updated version of Codex Heretic Astartes: Chaos Space Marines◊ but if you have the old version of the book all you need is the Vigilus book to be up to date◊.

Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellThe Vigilus stuff looks cool as hell. Never expected the minosr but beloved warbands would get their own rules.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.So I was browsing the Penny Arcade site, and Tycho recently commented on Warhammer 40K in a post that mainly covered The Division 2 and how scarily accurate (in his opinion) it is that society could collapse that quickly after a plague that killed tons of people. He more or less managed to sum up the state of the Imperium and everything wrong with it in one paragraph:
On a side note, in the comic that accompanies that post, he claims that one of the signs that society has crumbled is the presence of deer wandering the cities. Which makes some sense — if deer are bold enough to wander the cities, that means they clearly don't think humans are a serious threat. The post-apocalyptic deer are probably looking at the filthy hairless monkeys with a mix of pity and scorn.

Disgusted, but not surprisedSo, the new updates suggest that Chaos Cultists are losing the legion benefit from their detachment.
Which means compared to guardsmen, they have lower armor save, lower leadership, no orders, no legion/regiment trait, no commissars and they cost a point more.
But we can use tide of traitors once per game. That's worth it, right?
(I play 1k sons, the legion trait doesn't affect cultists for me anyway).
Health sure is versatile. It's possible to be both light-headed and dim-witted. At the same time, no less.Kind of neat there's a new box of Chaos marines.
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984Well, they do get all the neat buffs like Prescience, Endless Cacophony and (for some goddamned reason) Veterans of the Long War.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.I like the new models in several of the Chaos Marine folders, but where did they come from?
Pics from the pre-order preview I posted yesterday: Here◊ and here◊.
Today Warhammer World uploaded another Sisters of Battle preview
All Warhammer 40,000 ranges tell a story, with each miniature revealing something about the army it’s a part of. Take the Genestealer Cults – miniatures like the Jackal Alphus and Sanctus show off their stealthy guerilla tactics, while the Nexos exemplifies their meticulous preparations before each battle.
Or the Death Guard, whose commanders are often biologists, alchemists and experimenters as well as conventional military leaders.
With the upcoming Adepta Sororitas release, our designers have had the chance to realise the command structure and characters of the Sisters of Battle in tremendous detail. The Adeptus Ministorum – the universe-spanning church that maintains a theological stranglehold on the Imperium – has long been a key pillar of the background of Warhammer 40,000, and the new range brings them onto the tabletop as never before. This is Warhammer 40,0000 at its most gothic – nightmarish, beautiful and unmistakably awesome.
Most Sisters of Battle characters will build upon core details and imagery you’re already familiar with. This power pack◊, for example, features more ornate detail than the standard Battle Sisters, as well as a leather-bound chainsword (you never know when you might need one).
This cuirass◊ feels more ceremonial than those worn by standard Adepta Sororitas and is replete with engravings and other fine details to make the Character stand out.
Everything, right down to the bases, has been taken into account. Ruined statuary and columns◊ help to bring the world of the Adepta Sororitas and the shrines they defend to life and place them firmly in the 41st Millennium.
Every new Sisters of Battle Character will help to flesh out their world even further. This time around, we’ve been able to recreate details and flourishes never before possible. These can be small but meaningful touches such as the rosary beads that adorn several senior Adepta Sororitas◊ to demonstrate their constant faith, even in battle. You’ll notice, if you look closely, that these beads are of different sizes – each is meant to represent a specific virtue, or cluster of virtues, practised by that specific Battle Sister.
Flocks of doves◊ play a similar role as symbols of purity and peace that juxtapose fascinatingly with the brutal weapons wielded by the characters they’re modelled with.
As well as these key aesthetic touchstones, the new Sisters of Battle characters are replete with subtle details that speak to their specific roles. Take this audio device◊ – a baroque implement designed to issue orders, prayers or motivational litanies.
Let us know which champions of the Adepta Sororitas you’re looking forward to seeing in plastic on the Warhammer 40,000 Facebook page, and stay subscribed to the Games Workshop newsletter to make sure you never miss an update.
My third favourite Imperial faction is looking like it will be very nice

Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellCool; I'll have to check that out this evening.
They're really feeding us a ton of preproduction material. It's really cool.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireCultists losing Legion Traits is a blow, but the cheapest way to fill out a Battalion is still them, so I'm willing to wager they will still have a tabletop presence.
If they intend for cultists to continue to have a presence, they'll have to start selling them again. Last I saw, the cultist models were no longer in the store.

Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireThe Sisters get to have some Disturbed Doves? Awesome.
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984John wu love this
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Know your somewhat-bigger heretics.
The Emperor's Children one is actually basically accurate.
Cool. I'll see what I can make of it.
In other news: GAMA Update
Blackstone Fortress Expansion: Traitor Command◊ including a Traitor Commissar and Ogryn.
Could we be seeing a Traitor Guard army again in the future?
The next update isn't due until after I've gone to bed unfortunately.
