No 40K thread yet? I'm surprised. Nay, shocked, shocked I say to discover there's gambling going on in this establishment...
I'm eagerly anticipating the imminent 5th Edition release, personally, but I was interested to know if anyone here plays and has a differing opinion on it. There are certainly plenty of people out there who seem to think that 40K 4th edition "only just" came out and that a new edition isn't needed. Anyone?
Warhammer Fantasy (including Age of Sigmar and WFRP) has its own thread here.

Land Raider Crusader, Black Templar Crusader Squads, Imperial Guard Crusader units (why they're in the IG now is anyone's guess, they used to be an Inquisitor thing), there's the game called Black Crusade...
Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies.Ecclesiarchy. They are intended to be the bodyguards of the Priests that accompany Miltarum Regiments which is why they have the Adeptus Ministorum Faction Keyword as well as the Astra Militarum Keyword (which they have for Matched Play reasons)
Shocked. Shocked, I tell you, that no one remembers the Knight Crusader, or the Crusader class robot. However, I draw the line at trying to list all the various ships, war engines, and wargear that have 'Crusader' in their name.
Right, but back in 5th edition onwards they were usually in Grey Knights or Inquisition lists, not part of the Astra Militarum. In the lore, sure, I can buy that, but in terms of their placement in a Codex they were usually buddied up with the eyes of the Emperor.
I remember back in 5th edition they were usually used as low-cost, surprisingly resilient tarpits, because a Storm Shield's not bad, even on a T3 unit.

Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies.Well if I remember correctly they were initially part of the Emperor's Tarot theme that Inquisitorial Retinues had in those days. Even then I think they were Ecclesiachy units seconded to the Inquisition though.
They are probably going to be in the Sororitas Codex without the Militarum Keyword, as will probably be the case with any Inquisition Codex that is released.

I've launched the Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team page. I never know what to do with the original Sandbox in these situations however.
Looks pretty good as it is, actually. I don't see any problems.
... And that's called jazz!Next week's pre-order: The Ambull◊ for Blackstone Fortress.
It is an expansion set for the game◊ that will also include a datasheet to use it in 40K. There will also be a dedicated Blackstone Fortress carry case◊.

Once a page is launched, its Sandbox version can be cutlisted.
Cool thanks. I added it to the cutlist.
With all of the new stuff that the Genestealer Cults have now in terms of models and vehicles, I'm wondering if they should get their own dedicated page.
I would say either that or at least an expanded folder on the current page kinda like the chapter pages.
GIVE ME YOUR FACEI haven't read the Codex yet but I do think giving them their own dedicated section on the Tyranid page rather than just a folder would be a better solution at the present time. As far as I am aware the page is still within its size limit and they are still a part of the overall faction.
A lot of the vehicles don't seem like they should be particular to genestealers - stuff like, "this is a civilian mining vehicle repurposed as a war machine" and "they use these buggies for scouting."
Makes me wonder if they'd ever consider Lost and Damned variants of those vehicles, or even other rebel factions.
That is an issue with a lot of Heretic Astartes vehicles as well. In the Cult vehicle case I generally prefer a wait and see approach and make a decision when/if they get mentions or become options for other factions.
Speaking of the Renegades and Heretics, I had been thinking of possible splitting their entry into Chaos Cult and Traitor Militarum folders (possibly a Mutant folder as well) as they do often appear separately in the background material.
Double post for the 40K Ambull rules:
Ambull: M-6" WS-3+ BS-6+ S-6 T-6 W-7 A-4 Ld-6 Sv-3+
Weapons: Enormous Claws: Melee S-User AP -3 D-D3
Special Rules: Rapid Tunnelling - The model can be removed from the battlefield at the beginning of the Movement phase and replaced anywhere on the battlefield more than 9" away from an enemy model at the end of the next Movement phase; Rad-Maggot Symbiosis - regains D3 lost wounds at the beginning of each battle round.

How does that thing work as far as keywords? Can you just take it in any detachment, or what?
A lot of vehicle allegiances mainly count on how they're colored, especially since Traitor and Imperial forces use the same stuff.
Flavour-wise the Cult vehicles are civilian vehicles but crunch-wise they are exclusive to them so I'd say that's justification enough to put them in the Cult section. Besides, what are the chances of us actually getting Lost and Damned rules again?
GIVE ME YOUR FACETo be fair, in the conversion videos they're just flat out using genestealer cultists as chaos cultists. It's not hard-coded in the rules, but there's an argument to be made that Genestealer vehicles could also be used as chaos cultist vehicles. I'd allow it, personally.
We haven't seen the full datasheets yet, so we can't know how the faction keywords will work for it.
EDIT: Thinking about it, there's a chance it might not even be available for Matched Play.

It makes sense; Chaos cultists would definitely be a more irregular force unless it's an invasion force being used by Chaos armies.
Today's Forge World pre-orders are Night Lords: Leviathan Dreadnought; Terminator Praetor; Power Armour Praetor; and Dice.
